She was only 73. Huge part of my teen years. So sad.

I'm in Melbourne where she was from. So much respect, for her lovely music and also her massive philanthropy.

We are also mourning Judith Durham and Archie Roach. Three iconic artists lost in a week.

No she was from Cambridge originally, we claim her as British!

I heard it on the radio today, God, this is so sad. Good bye, Sandra Dee 😥

A truly beautiful lady inside and out. I've been a fan ever since my teenage years in the 70s. Wonderful singing talent. Even before Grease she had number 1's, several music awards, and was well established in her own right as a pop icon. Grease was the icing on the cake for her! In one of his interviews, John Travolta (relatively unknown at the time) said he was in awe of ONJ when he visited her mansion to persuade her to do Grease, seeing all her gold records on the wall and awards in the house!

She was said to be the same friendly, lively, "girl next door" type of person in real life as well as on TV. Nothing artificial about her. She was also inspirational, especially with her work for conservation, animals, and of course cancer support. Despite life throwing her lemons along the way (failed business, relationship breakdowns, miscarriages, failed films and a mystery disappearance of a partner), she always made the best of it, always positive, always looking forward, and never dwelling on things that went wrong.

The World is a poorer place this morning!

I've read all the Mumsnet threads and even those on the Daily Mail, and there are no negative comments at all. Has to be a first. She was a realistic, inspirational person and I am so upset!

Nothing to be negative about. She was an inspirational 70s icon who was as lovely in real life as she was on TV/screen. Very humble and never took success for granted, forever grateful for what she had and a strong supporter re her charity work, animal welfare and the environment. Her singing ability was something special, and she also developed into a good actress and dancer. Never "dished the dirt" on past boyfriends, ex-managers, co-stars, ex-business partners, etc - always stayed positive whatever life threw at her. I've been binge-watching her on Youtube this morning, not just her concerts, songs, etc but all the chat show interviews she did, and she really was a beautiful person. A great loss and very sad. The only consolation is that she lived a good life, did a lot of good things, and she really did get a lot of pleasure out of life, particularly the simple things like her animals.

We have organised a girls' night at the weekend when we are going to watch Xanadu and Grease. It may feature black satin leggings too. I already have the shoes and top.

The Victorian government has offered her family a state funeral which they have accepted.

R.I.P. Olivia.

Richly deserved given her support for charities and environment concerns.
