Awfully sad. She seemed like a lovely lady.

So sad. She seemed such a nice woman. I never heard anything bad about her. There have been a lot of reports over the past year that she's been ill so it doesn't come as a shock but it's still very sad.

Oh so sad! She seemed such a lively, funny, bright, sunny woman with wonderful talent to sing and entertain. Far too young.

So sad to hear this. She had breast cancer many years ago, only for it to return. She was an inspiration to me (I had breast cancer 10 years ago) She was first diagnosed in 1992 but I think she had been living with stage 4 cancer (in a very dignified way) since 2017.

I am shocked and saddened. I'm a 70s child and 80s teenager who somehow never went to see Grease at the cinema or watched it on TV until 15 years after everyone else. I did dance to Summer Nights occasionally though at discos and parties and I bought the single on 7 inch vinyl many years after it was a hit! DP is more of a fan than me but he just said oh yes, she had cancer. I missed that info.

I think 16% who have voted OP is being unreasonable are being very unreasonable themselves. I'm sure MN would move this thread if you ask OP - do we have an in memoriam section for famous people most of us don't know but feel sad about?

I tend to read and post mostly in What We're Reading and Education threads these days (first joined when I was first pregnant and on antenatal/postnatal and related threads) so don't know my way round all the forums.

I was absolutely obsessed with Grease.
I play her greatest hits in the car and sing Sam at the top of my voice,very sad news.

Aww that’s really sad.

She and John Travolta were a lot older than their film roles in Grease, but it is nonetheless shocking to hear that a figure in our childhood has gone, whatever we thought of her or him at the time or at any point since.
