Is GB News the beginnings of a new political movement?

I don't really know what GB News is.

I take glances at the clips that appear on Twitter every now and again. The thing I find curious is that people rubbish it on here. But Neil Oliver is one of the main presenters isn't he?

I really like him. He's seemed, in the past, when I've watched his history programmes to be a very astute character.

I'm wondering ... GB News ... could it be the beginnings of an outspoken outlet that we need ... and the beginnings of a new political party perhaps?

Don - oh LBCmakes my head hurt.

I don't really sit and watch news. I watched a couple of bits on topics I'm interested in and thought, okay, this person might not have had a fair hearing before. Or even a hearing at all.

I am saddened to read that they went on about AHA that way but I didn't see it myself and I'd need to see it with my own eyes.

Interesting to watch the way people are rounding on you here OP for starting a discussion about this. It would appear people feel very threatened by GB news and/Reform party and as per usual rush to label it alt right etc. Even if it is Alt Right (and I cannot say as I have not listened to it) can't we debate it rather than attack the person asking about it?

Honestly I wonder why people are so afraid of watching stuff or reading stuff.

Use your critical thinking skills. Look fir alternative opinions. Make up your own mind.

[quote SheWoreYellow]Quick google of a Neil Oliver finds this

I hadn’t realised he is dick. I always thought he was a bit sleazy but I’m surprised by this.

MatildaIThink · 24/10/2021 11:13

GB News is pretty much an anti-truth news organisation, promoting ideology rather facts. If you want to label it a movement then it would be a bowel-movement.

sst1234 · 24/10/2021 11:15

It’s fashionable to be on the left and rubbishing any conflicting opinions is what the left does. Not rubbishing them but banning them. This gives rise to platforms like GB news.
Contrary to what you read on here, GB news does have a following because ultimately millions do believe that a biological man is not a woman, and that we don’t need people flying in private jets to tell us to live in caves to save the planet. That there is such a thing is individual responsibility. And that every issue in life cannot be viewed through lens of racism, ironically the white savior syndrome.
But hey no doubt, the progressives will tell you that anyone who disagrees with them is just stupid.

No it's not, it's the dying roar of dinosaurs demanding dinosaur rights. And it made Andrew Neil cry, too right wing for himGrin. Which, apparently, came as a bit of a shock to him. So why we should be expected to trust his judgement on other matters, in which he supposedly has expertise, is a mystery.

1Week · 24/10/2021 11:48

That displays your biases far more than it sheds light on GB news' Longwayoff

longwayoff · 24/10/2021 12:16

Yes, I am biased against right wing frothers and proud to be so. They're biased against my leftie pinko commie rat beliefs and me against their nasty semi-fascist agenda. Happy to be on this side and don't know why the believers aren't ashamed to own theirs. Thanks for pointing it out though, just in case anyone had missed it.

Then the same left will cry when the Tories win a majority at the next election...... Turns out calling potential voters names and questioning their intelligence does not make them want to vote for you.

GB News is fulfilling a need for people both left and right who've become disillusioned with the old guard MSM all singing from the same partisan hymn sheet. There's obviously a gap in the market as Rupert Murdoch is also launching a news channel soon. It's good to listen to people you don't agree with.

Kendodd · 24/10/2021 12:26

I have watched Nigel Farage ranting about immigrants on there a couple of times.

Anyway, they don't need a new political party, they've completely captured the Tory party.

Murdoch might be reconsidering having seen the viewing numbers for GB news. There are times that it has had zero viewers. Last month Dave (the TV channel) had an hour of a man eating a sandwich and it got more viewers than GB News!

1Week · 24/10/2021 12:28

That's it, let it all out longwayoff

Let's never give up on free speech.

Kendodd · 24/10/2021 12:29

Also, I remember GB News saying they wanted to produce news that better reflected public opinion. WTF???
The news isn't there to reflect your opinion, it's there to report the facts.

Hope he's told Piers Morgan, who was crowing about joining the News UK TV channel. Anyway, competition is good and the best channels will survive.
Gilead · 24/10/2021 13:19

It’s tosh, right wing beliefs, little based in fact and nothing even nodding at science.

daisyjgrey · 24/10/2021 14:03

I bloody well hope not.

Dancerinthedark01 · 24/10/2021 18:10

Well this is pretty anti government. Is it left or right wing?

I always thought I was left leaning but I agree with every word of this.

I don’t think vaccine passports are left or right. I don’t think any of what he’s saying here is, is it?

well said. Everyone should look at opposing arguments on important matters. Media is mostly a left-leaning echo chamber sadly
CorrBlimeyGG · 24/10/2021 18:31

Well this is pretty anti government. Is it left or right wing?

Most of the swing voters at the last election were/ are anti government, but voted for 'Boris' because he's apparently a man of the people and levelling up and stuff.
