I’ve just been reading this story and it has brought me to tears - that poor, innocent little girl. How on earth is this manslaughter?! Those two monsters should have gone down for murder. I hope they have a dreadful time in jail.

agree with you, even the slant on the DM journalism is ‘what a terrible mother’ first and ‘what a bastard he is’ second. Even though statistically it’s more likely that he killed the child read the text exchange. This isn't a woman cowed by an abusive partner desperately trying to protect her child.

bloodywhitecat · 06/08/2021 09:05

It saddens me the number of children on the At Risk register whose cases go before the courts but the judge rules they should be returned home yet when it goes horribly wrong SS will be blamed.

RedMarauder · 06/08/2021 09:29

@LysistrataVickers

I wonder how their legal teams felt having to try and defend that pair of evil monsters 😔
They detach themselves from the horribleness of the facts. If they didn't they would go mad.

One of the former crown prosecutors said he joined them because he couldn't cope defending the bad guys.

IheartJKR · 06/08/2021 09:43

I have what I know is an unfair reaction to the balloons and toys left at the building.

All those people who cared enough to spend their hard earned money to buy something and placed it in Kaylees memory. Did any of them ever walk past her and see how she was treated? Did any of them give a shit about her when she was alive? Did any of them care enough to report their concerns?
Kaylee didn’t have much in life, what’s the fucking point in being nice to her now??

This annoys me so much.

SS frequently have their hands tied.

Due to what some of my family and friends do plus the social workers I know who have left I can say this.

For example in a neglect case I was told about different neighbours had to report the mother over 10 times - including a couple a few times each- and my relative had to trap her so she was caught in the act, so SS could intervene.

In my own case with some of my neighbours due to the state paying for their housing only the threat of losing their housing due to their other anti-social behaviour affecting neighbours children allows SS to intervene. Oh and different neighbours have to complain with a least a couple a few times.

In one case because it was presumed I was the only woman who made a complaint - I wasn't I knew some of my other female neighbours who could hear made other complaints - the abusive women started telling at me. Luckily a male neighbour, who is a doctor, heard and told her he was going to report her for her yelling.

Oh and in all cases the parents are offered help but turn it down.

bluewanda · 06/08/2021 10:30

In this case, the boyfriend started smacking Kaylee early on and it escalated quickly. The mother says she didn’t do anything. And this carried on right up to her hearing him punch her repeatedly and then see the terrible marks on the night before her death.

@MeridianB The mother was physically abusive to Kaylee too though, as evidenced by the text messages we've seen. The police team who investigated the case also said that no one will never know what exactly happened on the night of her death, as both parties blamed each other.

MeridianB · 06/08/2021 11:00

I don’t think we’re disagreeing @bluewanda

I was responding to comments about why the mother was getting negative headlines and why women stay with vile boyfriends.

brittleheadgirl · 06/08/2021 11:06

@Bagelsandbrie

I actually think the whole Covid world has caused so much depression, anxiety and despair financially and in every possible way that a lot of people have just given up caring about their children / families. Of course these things have and will sadly always happen - and I’m not saying that’s the case here- but i think there’s no doubt that the stress of these situations can’t help families already on the edge.
Ffs!!!

Covid has inflicted terrible hardship on my family, it has been an awful time for us but do you know what? It made me care and worry about my children more.
It made me go the extra mile everyday to ensure they were ok.

Hang your head in shame, what you've written is shocking.

bluewanda · 06/08/2021 11:30

Exactly @brittleheadgirl. I'm not sure why @Kittykat93's post from earlier (which was along similar lines to yours) was deleted - what she said was spot on.

TerraNovaTwo · 06/08/2021 12:01

Oh no! Don't you dare accuse the commenting police officer on being harsh on the mother. FFS. She gave birth to this poor little girl. She was complicit and as her mother she did NOTHING to protect her daughter from harm/from her lover - she abused and allowed the abuse.

Hope they both rot in hell!

Kittykat93 · 06/08/2021 12:11

Thanks op. I shouldn't have told the poster to F off but I was just really angry that covid should be blamed for this disgusting abuse. There is no reason, or excuses for what happened to that little girl.

ilovebrie8 · 06/08/2021 16:58

oh my what the heck is wrong with some people I can't believe what @Bagelsandbrie has written...shameful!! Nothing on this earth should make that mother do what she did....she deserves the worst and some...the pics of the little girl make me weep! what she must have suffered...it is truly evil ...

CLV1972 · 06/08/2021 17:05

Are you for real! 😠

bluewanda · 06/08/2021 17:35

15 years for the mother, 14 years for the boyfriend:

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9869365/Mother-23-jailed-killing-daughter-3-way-wanted-sex.html

Sentencing the pair, Mr Justice Foxton QC said: 'On the evening of August 8 you Redfern went to Priest's flat. The two of you went to have sex. Kaylee wanted to stay up and play. There is no direct evidence of what happened next.

'Kaylee was sick more than once during the night as a result of the severe beating. You lost your tempers and it is clear you were joint participants in that assault. You both knew you had seriously injured Kaylee.

'You, Priest did nothing to seek medical help. A prompt call could have saved Kaylee's life. You both lied repeatedly during interviews.

'From the severity of the injuries caused by the assault it is clear there was an intention to cause serious harm. The injuries were caused by a ferocious assault.

'You and Redfern were equally responsible. You had ample opportunity to raise any concerns. Kaylee was very vulnerable and you were in a position of trust. You did nothing to summon help.'

Absolutely appalled at that sentence

Hidehi4 · 06/08/2021 17:45

So upsetting hopefully the pair of them will get what they deserve when they are locked up. I have read so many stories of parents killing their poor children in the last few weeks they need to bring back the death penalty

GingerBreadTeddy · 06/08/2021 17:46

I am absolutely sickened

PercyPigAndMe · 06/08/2021 17:46

It's relatively good for manslaughter

And let's face it, nothing but hanging this pair would satisfy me tbh. And I'm actually anti capital punishment

ilovebrie8 · 06/08/2021 17:51

Hanging is too good for this pair !! They deserve a horrible slow death ...scum utter scum to do this to a defenceless little girl 😞

WaltzingTilda · 06/08/2021 18:15

Seeing that footage makes me sick. That poor little girl is looking at that monsters face in the lift and not once does that monster seem to look back at that little girl. What a waste of a beautiful little life, what a heinous crime. 9 months in that monsters womb to be sent to a tomb three years later by them. 15 years is not near enough. May karma , if real, take away the ability for those monsters to ever have children again. There are so many people who would have loved and cherished that little girl, its such bad luck she was born to that monster. Rest in peace beautiful little girl. I am so sorry the world has let you down.

Thisnamewasnttaken123 · 06/08/2021 19:52

Their sentences were so lenient it's absolutely awful.Sad

prh47bridge · 07/08/2021 14:33

I haven't read the full thread but a couple of points.

The jury decided to acquit them of murder and convict them of manslaughter. They had a lot more information about the case than we do and unanimously decided it was manslaughter. It seems the prosecution were unable to prove which of the accused actually killed Kaylee, which may be why the jury went for manslaughter. But this was absolutely their decision, not anyone else's.

Looking at the sentence, this looks like a Category B case of unlawful act manslaughter. That being so, whilst the law allows a life sentence, the maximum the judge could impose without giving the accused an easily winnable appeal was 16 years. The judge could not, therefore, have gone much further than he did.

ilovebrie8 · 07/08/2021 16:16

I get that it’s complicated legally. But that doesn’t take away from the fact those 2 monsters beat a defenceless 3 year old to death ....they should never see the light of day again! It’s inhumane and they didn’t call for help until she was dead...I only hope prisoners deal with them!

CLV1972 · 07/08/2021 17:21

Will they actually serve the full sentence?

Kittykat93 · 07/08/2021 20:22

Totally agree. I think it's fucking barbaric that these two pieces of shit could be walking free living their lives in ten years..they should never be allowed to be free - that poor little girl never was.
