I’ve just been reading this story and it has brought me to tears - that poor, innocent little girl. How on earth is this manslaughter?! Those two monsters should have gone down for murder. I hope they have a dreadful time in jail.

It’s awful, so awful and today the little boy found in the river and again it’s mums boyfriend and mum. So upsetting.

@PivotPivotPivottt

I haven't heard of this before now I'm in tears after reading that and watching the CCTV footage Sad. Currently lying beside my 4 year old daughter who's just fell asleep and don't want to leave her side now.

Don't even have the words for the scum that killed her I'm so angry and upset after reading this.

All sad news stories get me but when it involves a child of the same sex/age as my own it always seems to hit harder.

I hadn't read it until earlier today. My DC are all grown up and it made me teary. Flowers

@Bagelsandbrie

I actually think the whole Covid world has caused so much depression, anxiety and despair financially and in every possible way that a lot of people have just given up caring about their children / families. Of course these things have and will sadly always happen - and I’m not saying that’s the case here- but i think there’s no doubt that the stress of these situations can’t help families already on the edge.
What?!! Don't even try to use the covid excuse for child killers!
Quirrelsotherface · 05/08/2021 20:47

Just read this and my first thought was bring back capital punishment. In cases like this, where there is no doubt. This 'mother' doesn't deserve to live. It's clear from the clips that she couldn't have cared less. That poor, poor little girl

@Sparklingbrook

It would be hard to believe anything about this was down to the pandemic.

Exactly this! Most people have struggled, financially, emotionally, and mentally because of the pandemic; MOST people however, have not beaten their daughter to death! Jesus wept! Confused

Thisnamewasnttaken123 · 05/08/2021 20:50

It made me teary too, and also angry they had been found guilty of manslaughter.
No doubt they will be out in their life time with our weak near on useless justice system.
Absolute monsters.

This. I just watched the 2 minute bit of video footage of the 'mother' with the little girl. The woman doesn't show a SCRAP of interest in her, and is just pissing about with her phone, adjusting her clothes, and smoking a cigarette! She doesn't even make eye contact with the child.

Vile monster. Should get life in prison, and the bastard who killed the little girl with her!

DrSbaitso · 05/08/2021 20:50

It's devastating to say, but there is a weird phenomenon where a mother will get with an absolute piece of shit boyfriend, or have a child with an absolute piece of shit man, and prioritise him over the child even when he is openly abusive and she doesn't get on with him very well. I can't explain it.

Worthless turds, the pair of them. That poor child. I'm still strongly against the death penalty but this kind of thing tests me.

MeridianB · 05/08/2021 20:50

They needed to prove intent to get murder.

And because the mother and boyfriend blamed each other, it would have be so awful if one or both walked free. At least this outcome means they are both criminally responsible for her death. And hopefully someone will throw the key away when they get sentenced.

Apparently the maternal grandmother reported her own daughter to SS but not sure when that was or if anything was done.

As a PP said, the number of cases like this where it’s down to mother and her boyfriend is really high.

MummyGummy · 05/08/2021 20:51

@NiceGerbil

It is horrifying. Poor little tot.

I know it's the DM but the reporting bothers me.

She was obviously an abusive mother because she looked in the mirror and at her phone while waiting for a lift?

The police officer quoted puts the full responsibility on the mother.

I think those things are not great.

Is there any mention of SS involvement? Reports? I don't know if the neighbours reported.

Tiny children keep getting killed. Over and over. Maybe add a society we need to get over the feeling reporting is interfering?

I mean I don't know. It's just so frequent. And I imagine they don't all get reported.

It's heartbreaking every single time.

I think you’re right. Protecting children is everybody’s business and no-one should be reluctant to report concerns. In the article I read it said neighbours had heard the child crying and the mother shouting horrible things at her, but it’s not clear if they reported this. If they had and social services became involved and picked up on her historical injuries perhaps she could have been removed before it ended in her death.
DoAnythingILIke · 05/08/2021 20:52

I read this and cried, went into my sleeping DD (aged 7) gave her a big kiss and tucked her in, can't believe how cruel the world is.

I was in a lift very similar to that with my DD today and I can't imagine not talking to her, watching her face etc. Makes me feel sick.

ShowOfHands · 05/08/2021 20:52

Stress due to Covid has been used as a defence for murder:

2LostSoulsSwimmingInAFishBowl · 05/08/2021 20:56

For me it’s the text messages between the killers about the little girl that bother me more than the footage of Kaylee with her mother: the hateful language and the way they casually discuss violent acts against a 3 year old child, like it’s completely normal. What kind of thought process must you have to behave that way? Hope they’re locked up for a very, very long time because the thought of people like that walking around is terrifying.

I know. I have known of a few women like this. The 'any man's better than no man' brigade. Can't be without a man - ever, no matter what a cunt he is, how vile he is, or how badly he treats her children.

Seriously human nature is fucked up. It's FAR too easy to have a baby. Should be much more difficult. Instead of having pills to make us NOT have babies, we should be made so we have to take pills to HAVE a baby. Sounds batshit, but too many people who should not be in charge of a fucking GERBIL have kids, and they can NOT look after them.

You have to take a test to drive a car/bus/plane/train/helicopter etc, and take lessons and exams to do certain professions: surgeon/ dentist/ electrician/ gas worker/ doctor/ plumber/ mechanic/ engineer etc, yet any bloody fool can have a baby - or multiple babies, and fuck them up for life, with their appalling parenting.

That's my rant, and this thread is upsetting. So I am hiding it now. And I am off to watch Love Island.

Oh man that footage is heartbreaking Sad
How the mother just saunters through the doors first and barely looks at her. Poor little girl Sad

TheWeeDonkey · 05/08/2021 21:13

So many stories in the news today of children being killed. Its just awful.

I think the mother and her boyfriend were sentenced with manslaughter because neither of them would admit responsibility so this way they could both be found guilty, I hope they stay in prison evil bastards.

For the little boy as well, its come out now that he had some very serious injuries.

Then there's those two poor girls who were murdered at the weekend

MiddleClassProblem · 05/08/2021 21:18

As there is no mention of ss I wonder if most of her historical injuries were picked up in her post mortem. It may be that she only went to hospital for the broken leg and that’s why they flew under the radar. Her mother doesn’t strike me as someone who would take her child to hospital unless she felt others would see the injuries.

Horrific story. Unfortunately too many kids live like this.

Bloodypunkrockers · 05/08/2021 21:21

That poor wee soul. It's heartbreaking

lavenderandwisteria · 05/08/2021 21:33

Heartbreaking Flowers

I think the point re covid is not so much that it’s an excuse (nothing is) but that support services haven’t been running as normal which might have picked up on problems prior to things getting to this point.

MyGrassIsBrowner · 05/08/2021 21:54

Having a nearly 2 year old daughter myself, I can't even fully read these stories anymore. It makes my heart literally ache. That mother and father are monsters 😢

This. I’m heartbroken - what can I do, how can I make a difference?! I can’t bear the thought that there are countless other kids right now going through what this poor little girl suffered.

OP posts:
bluewanda · 05/08/2021 21:58

It isn't manslaughter because of an uncaring jury. It's because they can't satisfy the legal case for murder as long as both deny it and accuse each other. However, manslaughter can carry the same punishment and can be proved.

I see, thanks @ShowOfHands. In that case I retract my previous comment about the jury. I just hope these two scumbags get the maximum sentence possible - and that their fellow inmates are aware of what they’ve done.

That mother and father are monsters Not the father but the Mother's partner.
I wonder where the actual father is? Did he know little Kayleigh-Jayde existed? Could he have stepped in?
What a heartbreaking situation.

Sadly crimes like this aren't that uncommon. Same as other awful things- tend to only get reported in national news if something different/ extreme.
