nah, it was never apologise never explain (not sure who originated that either - lots of possibilities )

Hallowedam · 29/10/2007 22:40

Agree it's Linley. And frankly the senior royals must be relieved that it's this story we are discussing, and not some other escapades that newspapers and UK broadcasters are carefully not mentioning....

WendyWeber · 29/10/2007 22:44

ooooooooooooooooh edam, do tell!

paulaplumpbottom · 30/10/2007 07:43

quint · 30/10/2007 09:39

But you're not paying for the person who is repeatedly named here, he is not on the Civil List.

And [whoever the victim is] will now be thinking, 'Well I did what you're supposed to in these cases, I called in the police, but all the details were still splashed over the internet so I should have paid the money and kept it quiet and let the blackmailers go on to the next victim'.

I thought the person in question had his own privately bought home?

figleaf · 30/10/2007 11:35

Anne Dimamond (on the write stuff) has just said that the Royal has been named on the internet. I have looked but can't find it. Has anyone else?

SmartArseCoveredinCobwebs · 30/10/2007 11:38

Apparently some British journo blurted it out on a TV chat show on Fox in the US last night. I can't find any more details, though (although TBH I haven't tried very hard!)

CadaverousCorpulentCarmenere · 30/10/2007 11:46

Eliza I think they called the police because they don't care what we think. Even if it is true, which it may not be, they direct family of the royal in question probably knows about their proclivities.
I would say that the royal families sense of entitelment and arrogance wouldn't allow them to be blackmailed for something as minor as a sex act and the drug allegation is shaky to say the least as it is only in a royal envelope and could have been put in there by anyone.

CadaverousCorpulentCarmenere · 30/10/2007 11:47

After all these people are not dependent on their popularity with the public. It doesn't matter a toss if the public disapprove of one of them, particularly the minors.

RosaTransylvania · 30/10/2007 11:52

This is what is being said on the internet

figleaf · 30/10/2007 14:04

Thanks RosaTransylvania. I hate the fact that the rest of the world can know somthing but we can't. I think it is a publucity own goal to "seal" everything like this. The rumour mill goes mad and the story gets daily more fantastical. The press dont like it and the legal bods are crying foul at the orig' hearing being so secret. If He would just fess up and say he was a victim of a proposed blackmail plot the circus would die down in a few days. He may even get sympathy - who knows.
