It would appear!

Nice to see bullying wasn't lost in the classroom.

No one has the right to stop conversation and intimidate people into submission

You will never stop people talking about the news, but hey, keep thinking you are so above and better than others (minght help if you went out and got a life)

A dangerous precedent has been set, you're right.

People with the IQ of plants have gained access to keyboards.

I blame the triffids.

No-one's spamming. Some posters have decided recent threads have been utterly cruel and tasteless and after a lot of debate and going round the houses have decided this is one way to say so, is all.

You'd get the full picture if you looked up a few of the related threads from the past few days. If you can't be bothered (and who could blame you) then you'll just have to take it on trust that people's attempts to encourage the ghouls who are unable or unwilling to have a rational discussion to pipe down a bit are well-intentioned.

minorityrules · 11/09/2007 23:04

But there hasn't been encouragement

Shut up you freaks isn't exactly encouraging

There has been rudeness and nastiness, very few have been on and tried a ecent calm discussion, the ones who did got a reasoned debate (from most)

oh what is it you actually want, minorityrrules?

VeniVidiVernonHartshornNUMNQV · 11/09/2007 23:07

Yes, do spit it out, there's a love.

There's also a bit of 'if you walk into our pub, don't start acting like you own the place' about it. Some the worst extremists who want to post every bleedin' scrap of unsourced unreliable gossip and disgusting speculation about what exactly happens to dead bodies are people who have only cropped up because they've googled M McC's name. They don't actually want to join MN, they want to indulge in the most appalling fantasies of what might have happened to a very real little girl and get all outraged when anyone dares to point out they are living in a parallel world and can't spell ruddy DNA. Or McCann.

It's not that regulars own MN, but it's not really on to walk into a new place and start a fist fight, is it?

minorityrules · 11/09/2007 23:15

I just think it is highly unfair that few can do this as I think it is bullying

New or old every one has the right to voice an opinion, just not to silence the other

It comes across the 'old' members do feel they own it here

OP posts:
Blandmum · 11/09/2007 23:16

No-body is silencing anyone

and as we have all been told, over an over again. If you don;'t like the thread, don't read it

mandalena · 11/09/2007 23:18

Welldone MinorityRyles!!
My personal opinion is that what happened recently is bullying. I am new and felt very uncomfortable.
Discussing a headline is pathetic and nasty?
Eemm, i thought bullying is pathetic and nasty.
Keeping an open eye is silly?
Emm, no. Following/believing blindly a person/group is silly and simplistic.
P.S hope i make sense - otherwise the bullies are going to laught at my English again.(surprise surprise we dont all had English as first language)

KeirHardAitch · 11/09/2007 23:19

well, it's not really a few, is it? and i think it's unfair that a bunch of weirdos can get kicked off their usual forums, google a missing child's name, come up with MN and start ruining this place for people who have put a lot into it and get a lot out of it... i agree that not everyone on those threads has behaved badly, but unfortunately the sicko element is uncontrollable so everyone is being penalised one way or another.

MrsMarvel · 11/09/2007 23:20

Minorityrules, you're right, it's bullying. Some people just love an argument and while the bullies are getting on with shouting people down there are some other good threads going on. See you there.

KeirHardAitch · 11/09/2007 23:21

er, i don't think minorityrules shies away from argument, mrsm.

VeniVidiVernonHartshornNUMNQV · 11/09/2007 23:22

Ah, bullying too.

minorityrules · 11/09/2007 23:23

'don't read the thread if you don't like it'

I haven't read the ones tonight but they took over active conversations for a while. And regular conversations were being lost

A mob mentality took over, wantingto belittle anyone who has anything to say about MM. Basically saying anyone that talks about it is stupid

That's not fair

OP posts:
minorityrules · 11/09/2007 23:24

If I walked away after starting a thread and then being asked questions and not answering, I'd be called a troll!

So no, I dont walk away from a discussion

we have the right to post what we want.

The people on 'the' threads made that quite clear.

We have the right to express out distaste. But when we do that people start to say we bully!

We were having fun, making jokes. It was funny

I know which side of the line I'd rather be on

I repeat what has been said to us over and over again. If you don't like the threads, don't open them

KeirHardAitch · 11/09/2007 23:26

nor should you if you don't want to, MR. i was just answering MrsM. you don't strike me as a victim of bullying.

mandalena · 11/09/2007 23:27

Oooops, done it again. That was 'rules' not ryles. Sorry

TolpuddlapinMartyr · 11/09/2007 23:27

IT IS NOT FUCKING BULLYING!!!!!

Will everyone STOP belittling the word with its casual use on here. Christ, you've never been bullied if you think that's what this evening has been.

SeaShells · 11/09/2007 23:29

Mumsnet is the best! It's better than eastenders! lol

minorityrules · 11/09/2007 23:33

Actually, I was bullied, I got to the lets try and kill herself stage

So thank you for that

I will stand up for what I believe in now and no one wil ever (virtually) push me down the stairs and break my leg, or throw piss in my face or cut my hair off again (amongst other things) Would you like evidence of my bullying experience to validate my knowledge on the subject

OP posts:
KeirHardAitch · 11/09/2007 23:36

weeeeeell... is it possible that your experiences may lead you to be a little over-sensitive on the subject? because no-one did anything like that tonight. we just typed innocuous threads like 'george michael prefers gentemen' into our computers. seriously. i'd be surprised if you weren't highly sensitive about it, given your experiences, but mightn't you be over-reacting a bit?

MrsMarvel · 11/09/2007 23:39

Cut the woman some slack Aitch.

VeniVidiVernonHartshornNUMNQV · 11/09/2007 23:39

Oh MR that sucks
