What does it do that is so wrong?

mp
that link is misleading

The Express is NOT part of the Mail group

VeniVidiVickiQV · 11/09/2007 13:19

What morningpaper said....

OrmIrian · 11/09/2007 13:19

As Greensleeves said, it has pretensions. It's simply a right-wing anti-intellectual rag but it pretends otherwise so lulling people into a false sense of security because they thinks it's better than the Sun (which incidentally has excellent footie coverage... apparently).

lisalisa - blame private eye not me!
They said it...

(I think it's true)

Dinosaur · 11/09/2007 13:21

It is still very dull, lisalisa!

No, but it's equally as bad, IMVHO.

Cept, they dont have MMC on the front page all the time, they have conspiracy theories about Princess Di....

dislike either of them.

Desiderata · 11/09/2007 13:23

Daily Mail baiting is a popular and predictable MN habit. I doubt whether its detractors have ever read it, tbh. I suspect that some pimpled grebo at Uni told them it was uncool, and they've stuck with the notion ever since.

I suspect that most of them read The Grauniad, a paper so intellectual and rarefied that it doesn't actually have any news.

Iklboo · 11/09/2007 13:23

Oh and that bloody woman in the Sunday magazine bit who constantly bleats on about her husband cheating on her a kazillion times and how evil & nasty she is to him, how much she hates him and then (shock horror) keeps taking him back/sleeping with him.

My God - just clicked on that link.

Is 'that' story on the front pages practically every day?

No wonder there is so much hysteria around it.

I honestly never realised it was that bad.

Don't understand the "other papers are dry" argument

Buy a magazine if you want entertainment

If you want to know about current affairs, buy a proper paper

Why would you want your head full of racist crap?

tortoiseSHELL · 11/09/2007 13:23

it's hysterical, rabble rousing, pitchfork wielding, bigoted, right wing non-news.

Peachy · 11/09/2007 13:24

At least The Sun is open about what it is, though

Always saddened by peole who read Dm and think its an intelligent paper. OK, the Times isn't scintillating (quite like T2 and always find enough to get my interest up though) but woudl rather have nothing than DM any day

VeniVidiVickiQV · 11/09/2007 13:24

"Ormirian- of course its better than the Sun/.It doesn't have naked boobs peeping out from page 3 or g stringed women on teh front cover!!!

It also credits its readers with much more intellignece than the Sun."

THere is barely a difference lisalisa, which is why it is worse - it is disingenuous in its impression. Yet, underneath, it is just the same.

OrmIrian · 11/09/2007 13:24

"It also credits its readers with much more intellignece than the Sun"

Well therein lies the problem.....

Dinosaur · 11/09/2007 13:25

It's the spiritual home of "Mad" Melanie Phillips, too.

Sheherazadethegoat · 11/09/2007 13:25

pmsl @ OrmIrian

Peachy · 11/09/2007 13:25

Sorry to burst you bubble Desi but DH works (partly) for the DM so used to bring it home for a while, have read it and would not choose to again- its scary

OrmIrian · 11/09/2007 13:26

Well exactly VVV. A wolf in sheeps clothing so to speak.

TheApprentice · 11/09/2007 13:27

And it hates teachers who then have to spend ages trying to explain stuff to parents who have been mislead.

Can you guess what my job is?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 11/09/2007 13:27

I read the Times or the Telegraph when I do get a paper. Most current affairs info I extract from t'internet.

I used to read the DM for a short period (LU friendly - or so I thought). Then realised the Metro was actually a far better paper and it was free

morningpaper · 11/09/2007 13:27

My parents abd my in-laws are DM readers!
