I didn't light any touch paper.
I buy it and wondered why everyone hates it so much.
I don't like the Express as it doesn't feel like a real paper.

lisalisa - I was a City lawyer for 12 years. I can tell you that your colleagues will be judging you for reading the DM! Unless, of course, it's your secretary's and you read it whilst standing at her desk...

beep · 11/09/2007 13:39

I hate the Daily Mail because I have had 2 dm journo's walk into my house uninvited, refuse to leave when ask, tell me lies, carry on questioning me in front of my sobbing 7 year old daughter, try to trick me into giving them a photo of my recently killed brother. They wrote a centre page article, the first sentence contained at least 3 factual errors, they refered to my late brother the whole way through as killer C-,(was a road accident and the inquest found it to be accidental death). There were so many lies in the piece it was laughable. It was very upsetting for the whole family and my brother's partners family, especially his children.

Hathor · 11/09/2007 13:39

Oh fair enough. It got a big dingdong going though.
I think you should read all the papers.
The Murdoch ones are particularly balanced.

morningpaper · 11/09/2007 13:40

Lisa you are sounding a bit dim TBH

How can an intelligent person now have "picked up a broadsheet for years" ?

that's just

weird

NAB3 · 11/09/2007 13:41

Okay. Tell me what paper is good then. I read the DM as it is small and I can read it quickly. Busy busy so don't have hours to read .

Dinosaur · 11/09/2007 13:41

Of course, you don't actually have to pick the buggers up any more.

I read quite a bit of the Grauniad online during the day, and save up the Tedious Times for the evening (yawn).

Peachy · 11/09/2007 13:43

Having to LOL that the ink doesn't come off the DM as well

it bloody does, it comes off all of them

I know, because as Dh comes home each morning he grabs the bannisters and deposits the ink on the white gloss there makes no difference which paper he helped out on that night

tis always filthy

NAB: Books are also small and you can read them in your own time over a period of weeks

If you want a paper then buy lots of different ones and see which ones you like

beep, thats just awful. Am so sorry to hear this.

seeker · 11/09/2007 13:44

Because it's mealy mouthed, small minded, zenophobic, mean spirited, self-righteous, narrow-thinking, smug, and petty.

TigerFeet · 11/09/2007 13:45

Do you really have to read broadsheets to be intelligent mp

I am a bit news obsessed so do want a daily paper.

I hate snobbery about newspapers.

So many people on mn think it's such a big deal and get ridiculously steamed up about who reads what where (and positively apopleptic about the DM.)

They're only newspapers fgs, get a grip.

(Private Eye all they way for me! )

NadineBaggott · 11/09/2007 13:46

yesterday I read the Mail AND the Telegraph (in the pub) and strangely most of the stories were the same .....

madamez · 11/09/2007 13:46

Bear in mind that reading a paper doesn't mean one agres with its stance on all or any subjects covered. My parents get the Mail and I flick through it when I visit them, partly in the interests of giving the old blood pressure a good workout.

But hey, I get my news coverage from the MN IN The News threads. Everything you could possibly need to know about is in there, of course.

BIWI · 11/09/2007 13:46

Desi - as a Guardian reader, I was about to answer your first post about the Guardian, but have realised just in time that you were waiting to wind us up!

I hate the DM with a passion - and I do 'read' it fairly frequently as my business partner gets it. (Why I have no idea). Every time I read it I am still shocked by what purports to be 'reasonable' editorial views about women, single parents (usually mothers), immigrants (usually branded asylum seekers), those not blessed with employment, etc etc

But their financial and health pages are good - just a shame about the rest of it.
