Why have PSCmum and Sophable's posts been deleted????

Heathcliffscathy · 10/09/2007 22:14

AHEM? WHY????

Heathcliffscathy · 10/09/2007 22:15

oooooo....i could be ready for a serious (not really) flounce about this. hope an explanation is in the post.

quint · 10/09/2007 22:17

Boring boring boring boring boring

If people want facts about the case watch the news, stop speculating and stop fighting, this is not what mumsnet is about.

MrsDoolittle · 10/09/2007 22:17

Come one sophable, I met you, you seemed like a reasonable sort of person. Are you throwing that kind of accusation around at everyone?

This is an internet forum. Madeleine McCann is high on the media at the moment. This is "In the news" and the rest?

Do people really think that a site registering in excess of 17,000 members, maybe 10 posters(and that's pushing it) posting on this thread represents the current train of thought?
I don't think so.

Anyways, I don't like this, not for any other reason than for all the MN argy bargy which is typical of any site that has become so big. So I'll leave you all to it.

Good night

Heathcliffscathy · 10/09/2007 22:19

sorry but i stand by the 'accusation' that those for whom this story seems to be epic on the horizon of their consciousness need to look to themselves as to why.

and am totally bemused as to why i should have been deleted.

Mercy · 10/09/2007 22:20

Sophable's (deleted) post was pretty innocuous (sp?)

What's going on?

TotalChaos · 10/09/2007 22:21

Sophable, I am amazed and not very pleased that your message got deleted.

Heathcliffscathy · 10/09/2007 22:22

who is on mn watch tonight? olivia? justine? rachel? what is going on? please, i really don't get this. and am far too tired and disinterested to argue about it. but very very confused.

...maybe Mumsnet Towers were aiming for one of bobbysmum07's posts, virtual tippex poised, & their hand slipped?

Heathcliffscathy · 10/09/2007 22:23

I didn't report it, but the line,"you are WEIRDOS" is not the most subtstantive of posts now is it?

McEdam · 10/09/2007 22:26

I really dislike all this rubber-knecking, people getting their kicks over the fate of this poor little girl.

The fact that the Portugese police do not provide official media briefings (although clearly, just as in the UK there are plenty of cops happy to gossip) means all these so-called developments are half-truths and speculation. Please, let's leave it.

If any hard facts emerge, fine, let's discuss it as any other news story, but hopefully with some sympathy for Madeleine and her family, not with absolute glee. Even if, God forbid, someone in her family was in any way responsible - and we have no way of knowing that - there would STILL be dozens of other relatives whose feelings we should be considering.

Tbh, if you can't spell out the phrase behind the DNA acronym in full, you really aren't qualified to debate the possibilities and limitations of this branch of forensics ESPECIALLY when there are no facts.

sunshinegirl · 10/09/2007 22:28

Morning paper, have just read that Telegraph article, so totally hits the nail on the head.

I strongly suggest you all do the same

Maybe you could link it again? Sorry can't find it!

ThisIsDavinaPleaseDoNotSwear · 10/09/2007 22:28

Am I the only person on mumsnet to find the behaviour on both sides offensive?

JustineMumsnet · 10/09/2007 22:29

Hi Sophable and all.
First, Sophable we deleted your post because you called the members posting on this thread "WEIRDOS" which breaks our rules on personal attacks - no problem with your latest post where you make the same point but without the name calling.

To everyone, we reiterate that we don't disallow threads about Madeleine McCann because it's a valid discussion topic in our opinion. It is leading every news bulletin everywhere - it would be nonsensical to ban discussion entirely.

Neither do we disallow Mumsnetters' right to object to that discussion, say they find it distasteful whatever - we do ask everyone (whichever view they hold) to abide by our abuse policy (stay legal, avoid obscenties and personal attacks) and we do urge everyone to remain civil also. To quote the MN philosophy - we are here to make folks' lives easier - not the reverse. Generally shouting and hollering makes things more difficult.
Cheers,
MN Towers

elasticbandstand · 10/09/2007 22:30

so called story still not on BBC news, only sky. haveto concede, ignore sky.

auntyspan · 10/09/2007 22:32

Can I ask a polite question?

Why are people registering their distate? If I find a thread that I find distasteful, or one I have no interest in, I just move onto something else.
Sometimes I find MN shockingly intolerant and judgemental

Beetroot · 10/09/2007 22:33

read the thread the answers are here

quint · 10/09/2007 22:34

I think it started when the Guardian quoted some views from MN on Saturday, lots of people got upset byt this as they didn't feel that these were the majority views.

In the past lots of people who disagreed stayed silent, they now appear to be joinging in the discussion so that people know that MN is not viewed in one way only.

Hope that makes it clearer!

Heathcliffscathy · 10/09/2007 22:34

OH COME ON.

cunt on some thread undeleted, weirdoes (insult only depending on your opinion, I am a weirdo for example) deleted.

this smacks of fear to me. mn bigger and better than that surely.

nonsense.

sorry.

elasticbandstand · 10/09/2007 22:35

i reckon its because it gets out of hand aunty.. and people dont like being quoted in guardian, fair point..

JustineMumsnet · 10/09/2007 22:35

Well, as you know, we think you've every right to your opinion...
