Easyjet flight refunds

Anyone else having difficulty obtaining a refund for their Easyjet flights? It is widely reported that you can obtain a refund by going to Manage Booking. However there is no option to obtain a refund, only to change your flight to a different one (and who the heck knows how to plan that one?!). The flight I have is to Spain on 31 March and clearly this will be cancelled. Is anyone else having a problem finding the elusive option to get a refund (are Easyjet actually not providing refunds because of Cashflow problems?). TIA for any information you may have.

I have had the same email as buffing. Here’s hoping!

Justmeandtwokids · 17/04/2020 19:47

I got through on the phone on Monday evening and the refund was showing on my credit card on Wednesday morning. Very efficient once I got to speak to someone!

Thanks for sharing @Watertorture and @Celeriacacaca

My husband was due to travel to Berlin today, I'll get him to try both options.

Celeriacacaca · 17/04/2020 20:51

Update re the email address. Just received this in response to my email. Confused

Celeriacacaca · 17/04/2020 20:53

THIS IS AN AUTOMATED RESPONSE – WE’RE SORRY, THIS MAILBOX IS NOT MONITORED
We sorry, this email address is no longer in use and we have not received your email. The quickest and easiest way to request a refund is through our new dedicated Webform. Please visit our Help Hubb_ to request a refund.

Watertorture · 17/04/2020 21:05

You're joking! That's really annoying

TaylorConrad · 17/04/2020 21:51

@Celeriacaca. Talk about being given the run around!

@Celeriacacaca oh that’s crap!

We’re you given a new link in that response?

Celeriacacaca · 18/04/2020 10:28

@ritzbiscuits yes the hub mentioned takes you to the new refund application.

bruffin · 18/04/2020 11:44

I not sure why people were sharing the email. I think it was for people in a certain stage of getting a refund and sent in a private email which was why i didnt share it above, a bit irresponsible really as it appears to be broken now

ritzbiscuits · 18/04/2020 12:39

Thanks @Celeriacacaca we’ll use the hub link above.

Celeriacacaca · 18/04/2020 13:56

@bruffin. I disagree re it being irresponsible. If EasyJet was complying with the law and not ignoring millions of customers and if it made the refund process straightforward (as it usually is) then there would be no need for people to find circuitous routes to obtain a refund that we are fully entitled to in the absence of any other sensible way to make contact with them.

When my son's flights to Venice were cancelled a month ago, all he had to do was click on a refund button. No interaction with staff needed, no tweets, emails or forms. The money was repaid several days later.

The company itself has said they have the funds to keep the fleet grounded until Christmas so it's about time they start releasing some of those funds to people who should have been paid. They've already been through similar situations with the volcano ash drama so it's not like their systems are being tested for the first time.

bruffin · 18/04/2020 14:02

My flights were 29th March, my flights cancelled 16th March, the refund button disappeared in that time, but everyone demanding money back now will just send company into administration and nobody will get anything.

Watertorture · 18/04/2020 14:27

Wtf is "a certain stage of getting a refund"? Your flight gets cancelled = you are entitled to a refund.
It's not some discount voucher that has been over shared Hmm

Watertorture · 18/04/2020 14:30

Remind me how much easyJet gave out to shareholders this year?

bruffin · 18/04/2020 15:12

I mean they are doing them in order ie when the flights were cancelled or were supposed to take off. I dont know how they are doing it, but I got to the stage where they sent me an email telling me how to get a refund ie the correct email address and format. I appreciate there are a lot of people waiting for refunds but not sure why anyone in this unprecedented times think it's going to be a quick process.
I am prepared to wait, which seems to work because I am getting there. They only have so many staff to answer calls,or respond to emails. I'm sure they will get there eventually.

mummytooneprincess · 18/04/2020 15:29

Thought I'd check back in to update.... we finally got our money back this week. We were due to fly on 22nd March and I asked for a refund on the 16th March

Vargas · 18/04/2020 20:17

Well bruffin I used the email address my friend used because we were on exactly the same flights but she got the email and I didn't. So your theory doesn't work for me.

CodenameVillanelle · 18/04/2020 20:22

Just filled in the refund request on the help hub and got 'sorry something went wrong please try again later'

bruffin · 23/04/2020 22:05

I just got an email from easyjet which said they have refunded my credit card today

TaylorConrad · 24/04/2020 09:05

@bruffin Yay! Glad you got your refund. Smile

I have been following this thread as I have also been trying to get a refund from Easyjet for cancelled flights. I got the email on Sat 25th saying it was being refunded that day but nothing has come onto my card yet. Has anyone else got the actual refund?

bruffin · 27/04/2020 20:21

Yes it came through 2 or 3 days later

TheGirlWithTheArabStrap · 27/04/2020 21:25

Thanks bruffin hopefully it will arrive tomorrow

TheGirlWithTheArabStrap · 29/04/2020 18:06

My refund arrived this morning 😁
