I was watching the news last night re Kate McCanns requestioning by the Portuguese Police. I have updated on the events this morning and it appears she will be declared as a SUSPECT today. Im shocked about this, what do you all think? Surely she didnt have anything to do with it?

No need, Sue. Put in 2oz. of borax and 2 oz. of table salt. Put a full kettle on to boil. Pour 4 oz. white vinegar down.

Pour full kettle in after it boils.

Let sit for 5 minutes.

Clear, neutral smelling drain - voila!

SueBaroo · 07/09/2007 14:28

How about this, expat?

lilibet · 07/09/2007 14:29

Any ideas for my mum?

She is nearly 81, has cataracts, doesn't do well with anything mechanical, doesn't use any make up or toiletries, doesn't drink or eat sweet stuff, and has enough photo frames/ornaments/clothes to last her a dozen lifetimes.

HorseyWoman · 07/09/2007 14:29

Err, no, the population of Britain is 6 times greater than that of Portugal. That doesn't mean Portugal has 6 times less child crime, just that there are less children to go missing in Portugal, and therefore 500 as a percentage of the child population in Portugal would be greater than 500 as a percentage of the child population in Britain. Saying that x% of portuguese children, compared with x% of Brit children go missing each year, would illustrate your point.

expat, cheers, I shall give that a go. Because, after it's not like the smell of bleach reminds me of fresh flowers any more than the gagging drains.

Horsey:
Yes I understand that-my point is that although not identical, they will be very close because of their relationship and inaccurate or incomplete typing could be an issue.
The reports I have seen state that "partial" results from the DNA typing have been obtained.Whatever that means.

orangehead · 07/09/2007 14:30

neverenough, im not sure what u getting at about the dna?

minorityrules · 07/09/2007 14:30

So again anyone that wants a reasonable discussion over a very important news story get told to shut up by a few

If you don't want to see it discussed, don't come on the thread!

People are only discussing what we have been told so far and are entitled to discuss those facts

Get off your moral high horses and leave them to it

Not read the whole thread so this might have been said but if she is a genuine suspect (and not just using the legal 'protection' it affords) then - if she's suspected as having been a potential danger to one child already - why on earth would she be allowed to remain with the other two chilldren? Has she actually been arrested?

Very confused by all of this.

Why or how on earth could a foriegn couple, on holiday with a group of friends, manage to kill a child and dispose of a body in a place that they don't know very well in a fairly short space of time. And to dispose of it so well that no-one ever finds her is just unfeasible. It doesn't add up at all.

Here here minorityrules. I just don't get it.

expatinscotland · 07/09/2007 14:36

I think a ferm would be better, cod, although depending on the species they can be tempremental.

mytwopenceworth · 07/09/2007 14:37

She's been declared a suspect by the police, there is a lot of speculation and statements from, for eg, the sil, that she may be charged with the accidental death of her daughter. But at this stage, that's still speculation. The only thing that is confirmed, is that she has been named as a suspect.

But we are looking at that from the english law pov, but this is a different legal system. A suspect doesn't mean the same thing and from what I have read and watched, it is more about asking some specific questions. It may be that the questions are asked and nothing further happens, it may be that she is charged. There's no confirmation of either at the moment.

However, I think bashing people for wanting to discuss a news story in the news section of a public forum is a bit off.

Neverenoughhandbags · 07/09/2007 14:38

Orangehead, I am no expert-but am curious about what "partial" results of DNA analysis means.I wonder how good the putative sample from the car is and whether it is an exact match for Madeleine or a close match.

Bulbs is a lovely idea at this time of year - get a tasteful basket of them, and get the kids to give them and then spend some time with her planting them together. Then you can watch them come up in the spring! Lovely

MrsMarvel · 07/09/2007 14:38

"I don't understand how anyone can be charged with any sort of murder/accidental
death without a body."

Good point.

dd is a beauty therapist and we get clarins stuff very cheap

So that rules out the manicure and the hand cream.

Bulbs are a nice idea but was looking for something a bit bigger

beansprout · 07/09/2007 14:39

Agree with cod.
