I was watching the news last night re Kate McCanns requestioning by the Portuguese Police. I have updated on the events this morning and it appears she will be declared as a SUSPECT today. Im shocked about this, what do you all think? Surely she didnt have anything to do with it?

Mrs Marvel:

How do you know what the Portuguese Police know. We are not privvy to all information about this case. There are secrecy laws and the police there choose to do their jobs rather than be media whores.

Lauriefairycake · 07/09/2007 14:19

Expat - whisky to go with it ?

TigerFeet · 07/09/2007 14:19

Why do the Portuguese police need to tell us anything at all?

Seeing as so many people on here seem to think they know the definitive version of what happened anyway

[why oh why oh why have I let myself be sucked into this thread? I've never been interested in teh Madeleine free-for-all before]

SueBaroo · 07/09/2007 14:20

On a completely personal opinion, I really don't want it to be anything to do with the parents, because the scale of the deception would be enormous and hugely damaging in too many ways to list.

However, there really is no reason whatsoever for people to assume the automatic innocence of the parents based on 'gut-feeling', anymore than there's a reason to suppose they did do it, on 'guts'.

It could be the dodgy curry you ate last night affecting your guts, but it ain't gonna be anything to do with the McCann case.

For some reason, dads always like socks, Expat!

expatinscotland · 07/09/2007 14:21

He's 71, an avid golfer who doesn't drink or smoke.

He enjoys jigsaw puzzles, photography, BBQ, Mexican history and gardening.

Yes, my mum is not much of a drinker, but she does enjoy a dram of an evening now and again - preferably single malt Scottish whisky.

can i just say
bleach is the best and flash kitchen woth bleach is the dogs bolleuax BUT ruins clothes

HorseyWoman · 07/09/2007 14:23

tigerfeet, I COMPLETELY agree with you. Would be lovely if we knew who did it for sure, but it's really nothing to do with us, and just because we haven't been told all the information or shown all the evidence, it doesn't mean it is not there; nor does it mean the Portuguese Police are clutching at straws. The PP probably have a shit load of evidence you haven't even thought about. Just because their facilities and technologies are behind ours, doesn't mean their brains are. Oh, and let's not forget, if we are implicating the Portuguese Police then we also have to implicate the British ones, seeing as at around midway through this investigation, they became involved as well.

Neverenoughhandbags · 07/09/2007 14:23

I don't understand how anyone can be charged with any sort of murder/accidental death without a body.
I also think that if there is DNA evidence, they have to be absolutely sure that it is correct-Kate and her children share DNA(assuming she was not from an egg donor).
The speculation about sedatives is very far fetched. There are easily available OTC mild sedatives that at worse would cause a child to sleep into the next day.
There have been heartbreaking miscarriages of justice in the past-I hope this poor mother does not fall foul of another.

SueBaroo · 07/09/2007 14:23

How about one of those 'funny' gardeners mugs from Past Times?

What about finding a photo of an old mexican carrying some golf clubs, who is having a barbeque in a gorgeous garden and turn it into a jigsaw for him?

LaCerbiatta · 07/09/2007 14:23

Yes, let's divide 150000 by 6: it's 25000. Compared to 500 seems like a huge difference to me....

HorseyWoman · 07/09/2007 14:23

Exactly my point suebaroo.

tinkybelle · 07/09/2007 14:23

if forensics have found her blood in the back of the car - what explanation can there be??

expatinscotland · 07/09/2007 14:23

STOP USING THAT BLEACH CRAP! It's unneccessary, bad for you, bad for the environment, and ruins clothes.

There are so many better alternatives out there.

McEdam · 07/09/2007 14:24

hear, hear, Cod.

noddy123 · 07/09/2007 14:24

why is it that people cant have a general disscusion about this on here, we are allowed to voice our opinions you know. nobody knows what happened yet. you get people thinking they know more than the police people calling each other all sorts of names and now we have some idiot talking about bloody christmas presents!!!!

Great idea, lili! I could photoshop a photo of him carrying his clubs and stick it in, say, a photo of Glamis Castle gardens and turn it into a jigsaw.

He'd fecking love that!!

Thanks!

SueBaroo · 07/09/2007 14:25

But expat, it makes me feel better to pour bleach down the sink when the drains honk, because I can visualize all the wee germs being dissolved...

NadineBaggott · 07/09/2007 14:25

HorseyWoman · 07/09/2007 14:25

neverenough: half of Madeleines chromosones are her father's and half are her mother's. Therfore, everyone's DNA is different.
