in for a penny....

MrsBadger · 10/07/2007 13:55

at least you have James Hook and Stephen Jones as wel - Lord knows what England will do for a fly-half this autumn...

AttilaTheMeerkat · 10/07/2007 13:58

I think Charlotte Church has low self esteem and self worth. Growing up in a household where her Mum's many relationship woes were plastered across the press did her daughter no favours at all, she has learnt from her Mum.

She probably thought that after the idiots she'd had a relationship with she'd got lucky with this man.

I hope that they can work through their relationship problems and learn from their mistakes. Both of them need to take a long and hard look at themselves - what led up to this and how can things change for the better?. None of this methinks has anything to do with her pg weight or supposed "letting herself go".

Bouncingturtle · 10/07/2007 13:59

I thought being pregnant was the ideal time to let yourself go, I figured, well going to get fat anyway so what the hell

I do feel sorry for Charlotte, Gavin is a prize turd. And so fecking what she's put on a few pounds, at least it shows she's not putting her health at risk desperately trying to stay slim like some other media types!

thomcat · 10/07/2007 14:00

Not read all this thread but I got to "Did she really need to put on so much weight???" and was too ed t carry on. Ohhh how rude! Who gives a flying fig how much weight a pregnant woman puts on! I put on about 3 stone in all of my preganacies and couldn't give a toss that I did and don't expect anyone to care on my behalf.

I don't know Charlotte Church so won't comment on her personally but will say I feel sorry for anyone whose partner snogs someone else, and it must feel quite a bit worse when you are carrying their child

Lizzylou · 10/07/2007 14:03

I put on shed loads with both pg's and am always fighting the flab...v harsh imo.

Desiderata · 10/07/2007 14:06

Gavin Henson walked into the Doctor's surgery.

Gavin: 'Doctor, you've gotta help me. Every time I look in the mirror, I feel sexually aroused.'

Doctor: 'Well I'm not surprised. You're a c*!

aloha · 10/07/2007 14:07

Some of us blow up like balloons (me, Charlotte Church, Catherine Zeta Jones) some stay waif-like throughout. It is the luck of the draw, frankly.
When I got pg I thought, hmmm..no more wine...very healthy diet...will lose weight. HA! I just grew and grew like Topsy.
Luckily I had some kind of hormonal reverse body dysmorphic disorder and thought I was ravishing. I am only now, 2.5 years after the birth of dd (dc2) getting back to a stone over my pre-pregnancy weight, instead of 2.5 stones over my ppw.
I am one of those unlucky buggers who keep it all on while breastfeeding (did that for two years - not a pound off). We are not all the same.
And oddly, my dh did not consider my poundage a reason to snog random passers-by.
I'm no fan of CC - but I do feel sympathy for a pregant woman who finds her partner is a complete arse when it's too late.

pooka · 10/07/2007 14:10

Honestly, what a horrible horrible thing to say TM. Makes me feel so .
FWIW I didn't have particularly big babies, but still put on about 3 - 4 stone each time. And then lost almost all of it within a few weeks.
Yes was enormous. But the idea that someone could be so vitoilic and .... bitchy.... as to think I'd in some way let myself go! Well, would have had steam coming out of my ears.

JeremyVile · 10/07/2007 14:11

I personally vote that "ooh, hasn't shae gone to the dogs" brigade put up pics of themselves when pg.

Its only fair we all get to judge surely?

LittleLupin · 10/07/2007 14:14

Aloha, you have no idea how happy it makes me to hear you say that about breastfeeding!

thomcat · 10/07/2007 14:18

I didn't loose weight brestfeeding either and the urge to eat chocolate and the like increased even more.

Oh and there is a pic of my pregnant in my profile.

TootyFrooty · 10/07/2007 14:18

I've always thought that the line 'they' spin you about breastfeeding helping you to lose weight was a lot of old hog wash. I didn't lose all my pg weight until I stopped breastfeeding. I gave up trying to lose weight whilst I was breastfeeding because it just seemed to cling to me and it refused to budge.

aloha · 10/07/2007 14:19

I went on a diet after breastfeeding and lost a stone and a half really easily. The rest is coming off...very slowly!

aloha · 10/07/2007 14:20

Studies show that some people have very thrifty metabolisms that slow right down during breastfeeding. We are the ones who would have survived famines!

DrNortherner · 10/07/2007 14:21

Oh yes CZJ balooned didn't she? And look at her now

Mind you, she is married to a sex addict so probaly gets loads sack action....

TootyFrooty · 10/07/2007 14:22

That is v interesting aloha and certainly makes a lot of sense.

I do feel the urge to punch very skinny post birth celebs who say "I didn't try to lose weight - I breastfed for 5 minutes and all my weight just fell off"

pooka · 10/07/2007 14:22

Should say that most of the weight loss after having dd was down to sheer unhappiness and exhaustion. Still retained about a stone until stopped breastfeeding when she was 13 months.
With ds, was much happier, but had put on a bit less weight, and didn't seem to have much time to eat. Again, the last bit of wieght went when I gave up b/feeding at 12 months.
Think it's only natural for yourbody to try and store some fat if you're breastfeeding, just in case.

Anyhooo...

Still think that to imagine that a pregnant woman is letting herself go by putting on "too much weight" is obscene.

oliveoil · 10/07/2007 14:30

I lost all my weight but whether that was to do with b/f or not (or just my mother's metabolism, thank you thank you)

but what I will say was I was STARVING whilst b/fding and ate cakes and stodge all day long

and still continued to do so when I finished b/fding

and then wondered why I was 11 stone all of a sudden (am usually about 9 and a half)

CC is curvy normally and what makes me SEETH is when magazines - usually ones hightlighting flab on the beach pics - say how she is healthy and great

and then the next week say Charlotte's Weight Hell or some other crap

these magazines have A LOT to answer for in the way that people think woman should look

handlemecarefully · 10/07/2007 14:33

Taylorsmummy - are you trying to establish some sort of newbie brand recognition by being contentious?

TaylorsMummy · 10/07/2007 14:36

no

LittleLupin · 10/07/2007 14:39

HMC, TM's not new! she joined about the same time as me.

handlemecarefully · 10/07/2007 14:41

How long ago was that then? I loose track of time. Pre-senile dementia you know

LittleLupin · 10/07/2007 14:42

7-8 months

homemama · 10/07/2007 14:44

Well I was in and out of hospital, sick as a dog with hyperemisis, lost loads of weight but no way would I have fitted into size 10 jeans (my normal size) after about 2mths!

I looked like I'd stuffed a pouffee (sp?) up my jumper!
