I wonder how many people in that "backlash" actually have children of a pre-school age? Some of the comments I have read from this "backlash" have been so unbelievably judgemental and almost hysterical in their need to protect the Mccanns and their campaign. They don't seem to get that no-one is attacking them.

You know most young kids don't talk about current events in the playground, really they don't - they run around screaming and chasing each other and being kids.

Tiggiwinkle · 05/07/2007 23:29

I think you are the one who needs to go haychee. Do you have no interests other than the rather unhealthy obsession with this case? You have posted on nothing other than the two Madeleine threads!

Jacanne · 05/07/2007 23:30

And that last comment, about children not being bothered about a 2 minute add before a film, well as many have posted already on this thread - actually they are.

stressteddy · 05/07/2007 23:31

Tenacity - it's a marvellous thing!

controlfreaky2 · 05/07/2007 23:31

haychee, calm down love. you'll do yourself a mischief......oh, and reading your ranting is very, very dull darling.

I think the thing is that most adults aren't bothered in the least about a 2 minute ad before a film (in one ear and out the other) unless they have young kids who are scared by it. So it was doomed to failure on all counts really.

controlfreaky2 · 05/07/2007 23:33

Please can we have bigmamie the fully qualified peadea-wotsit back, I'm getting bored of haychee. Although I reckon haychee's started drinking now, so that could be entertaining.

you have been posting on here constantly this evening. did you feed your kids tonight at all? did you bath them and put them to bed? have you spent any time with them? not at all by the timings of your posts. id much prefer to 'layer on another roll of cotton wool' thanks miss 'oh so perfect parent'

TranquilaManana · 06/07/2007 00:03

i just have to say that the cake thread side discussion was jolly very entertaining on this thread.

im growing quite fond of her though she does make me chuckle

Well, curiosity got the better of me and I came back to see what happened.

You should listen to yourselves - you sound like a pack of hysterical, bullying hyenas. Were the personal comments entirely necessary? I don't know Haychee but I get her point and it seems a more considered and reasonable approach to others I've read here. If this is the example you set your own children towards people who hold a different opinion to you then they really will be in for a nasty shock when the mummsynet cotton wool is unwrapped.

Incidentally, if anyone is capable or interested in an adult debate, I've asked the view of professional - an infant school teacher who specialises in child development and welfare. Sarah Payne was in the news when both our children were about the age I guess your kids are (maybe a little older) and both of us told our kids what was going on with that and would do the same in this case.

I also asked my daughter, now 14, for her opinion and she says that whilst she knew about Sarah Payne and was upset about her, she didn't have nightmares about it because she felt safe and she was able to ask anything she wanted to know and have the questions answered. There was no big secret. And it meant we didn't have to avoid the television or newspapers which makes life a lot easier. Eventually children have to learn to deal with the dark side of life and pretending it doesn't exist, in my opinion, does them no favours in the long run.

tazmosis · 08/07/2007 17:06

This thread did get a bit like being in the playground...Haychee might have been passionate and even personal on occasion, but there is only one of her....

LittleBoot · 08/07/2007 21:12

Hello was your kid the age our kids are or (maybe a little older)?

Because there's a hell of a difference, you know.

That's why there's a debate. [Rolls eyes]
