The old thread takes too long to load.

Lets hope this is the one that contains the good news that she has been found alive and well.

Cod, these poor people have been punished more than a thousand life sentances!!!! What more can people want them to go through - please!!!!!!!

No-one, not one person should stand in judgement - ever, in a situation like this. We all have opinions as to whether something/someone is right or wrong in a given situation, but this particular case is one of high sensitivity and tenderness. Their child was wrenched from their lives! How much more do we all want them to pay!

EnidTheInvisible · 21/05/2007 12:23

sadly I have to agree with you dinosaur

edam · 21/05/2007 12:23

Agree with Cod (and Enid). I can only think there are people out there googling Madeleine's name and then going onto every site they can find to have a go at the family. It's sick.

figroll · 21/05/2007 12:24

Has mn been infiltrated do you think?

I'm glad you've said that Cod.

Where is this aggressive judgement coming from. Why are these peopel like this?

I want it to be very clear to myself and outsiders that this is not the general attitude/ethos of MN.

Please tell me it's not???

I've complained about MN in the past but have never seen anything like this.

ruty · 21/05/2007 12:25

Dino i didn't know a thread of yours was deleted. How odd.

Wolfgirl · 21/05/2007 12:26

...and TootyFrooty, you should refrain from calling other posters/contributors LOONs or other such slanderous names. Its not nice, its not clever/witty and its not tolerated. So please dont do it. Theres no need for it, more to the point

Newbies or not, have a right to post and not be berated or jumped on in such a vile manner.

lulumama · 21/05/2007 12:26

it is odd

i accept that a major benefit of mumsnet is that it is self moderated

but in the 8 or so months i have been here, never have i seen such vitriol, spite, nastiness and personal attacks..all of which go against the philosophy of mumsnet

anyone daring to criticise either side of the debate is rounded on, mostly by new, aggressive posters, who do not post elsewhere

am

if i didn;t love the childbirth boards so much, and get pleasure from those, i;d be out of here

OutragedfromTunbridgeWells · 21/05/2007 12:26

Can we not collectively quash it somehow??

Instigate a thread boycott or something?

edam · 21/05/2007 12:26

Bless you dino, not sure what I've done to deserve thanks! But yes, the weirdos who crop up out of the blue to have a ruck purely on the McCann threads do make you feel like you want to stick with recognised MNers, not strangers who are using this tragic case to enjoy a bit of bullying wherever they can spot an opportunity.

And it goes unchallenged because it's someone's "opinion". Ridiculous. For example, it's my "opinion" that the methods used by SWMNBN are abhorrent. But I'm not allowed to post that.

Total and utter double standards.

ConnieDescending · 21/05/2007 12:29

This thread has gone beyond ridiculous now. I was one who posted some comments when the super sleuthing was getting out of hand (in my opinion) but I will not stand for being called a bully or abusive.

Calling other posters bullies because they have a different opinion is completely out of order.

yellowsnow · 21/05/2007 12:29

why was the bono thread deleted then? It was their opinion that he is a tosser

OutragedfromTunbridgeWells · 21/05/2007 12:30

Maybe Cod or some other Mn bigwig could start a 'sign here if you support the McCanns'... and pledge to avoid all discussion of the case at present due to the unpleasnt attacks being made upon them.

Keep it in active convos.

Obviously they'll carry on on their own but will be starved of the oxygen.

oh dino Good thing is these posters are not on other non MM threads so hang on in there and get the support you need. If Mumsnet was judged by these threads alone I certainly wouldn't be here anymore. And there are definitely some posters who have helped make MN what it is, who are not around very much anymore because of the new tone. Don't you go too!

Well yes some one will, but I think the majority would support it.

(I am Smileyspeople BTW )

Saturn74 · 21/05/2007 12:33

It is most disquieting to continually read the ramblings of these 'new' posters, who feel it appropriate to criticise the family at every available opportunity.
At best, they have not embraced the MN ethos.
At worst, they are sinister and destructive.
I am shocked at how many regular posters have been hounded and insulted on these threads, when merely trying to explain that a certain amount of tact and empathy is called for at this time.
