Sorry that was Vincent McAviney who tweeted that.

blueskyinmarch · 26/07/2017 17:09

Been at a meeting and just catching up with recent events. It is all turning into such a shambles and at the heart of it all is a desperately sick boy who needs to go peacefully and soon. He doesn't care where he dies so all of this is purely for C&C. If Connie had stayed by his bedside instead of taking things to court every day she could have had a lot of quality time with her son.

I am beginning to wonder, and I say this kindly and with compassion, if Connie is becoming mentally unwell by all of the stress and grief and is genuinely not able to see what is right for Charlie. I am so worried about how she is going to react once he has gone. She is so not going to cope.

Lynnm63 agreed, if I bite any harder I'll taste blood.

While these court cases and motions and hearings, appeals, and 'last minute reprieves' are leading to adjournments, there's a terminally ill boy with an utterly dreadful quality of life, being breathed for while his parents fight against the sadly inevitable.
I feel like C&C- while clearly devoted to fighting for their child's 'right to life', albeit misguidedly, are prolonging his suffering so they can postpone their own.

I wonder if what has been hoped to be a shrewd long term plan is actually turning out to be an inexperienced judge in over his head.

I read the last resort as him indicating that he was now not going to give any more time: it's simply a matter of how long is spent at the hospice before Charlie is extubated.

AztecHero · 26/07/2017 17:11

TBH I wondered if the judge asked for the media to leave so that he could say quite frankly as sensitively as he can (but bluntly) that the time has really come to face facts and to let Charlie go. And maybe call CG as well.

Whatever he has said has not gone down well with CY if she is indeed losing it and shouting at him in the court.

Devonishome1 · 26/07/2017 17:11

Misshavis- I'm looking on twitter at Joshua Rosenberg but can't find what you have said. Where are you reading the information?

Judge: you want a default position if no agreement by 1630 on Friday? Armstrong: yes.

Thanks k you dyke. So gosh never had a problem with a hospice, it was just hospice long term or home that was the issue

LovelyBath77 · 26/07/2017 17:12

I feel concerned that there seemed to be no more family support available to come to the court today. Surely some kind of support worker could be found, at least. I am also concerned the judge is being swayed by emotion over the case/ media etc.

Ceto · 26/07/2017 17:12

He should have checked Ceto - you're an officer of the court. Plus most solicitors/barristers want to at least appear professional

That's what I said, Gobbo. Quote:

Charitably, Armstrong can't have known the doctor was a GP. But that does then lead to the question why he didn't insist on someone getting at least basic, checked information before he even mentioned him.

totallyliterally · 26/07/2017 17:12

@LBC Court has risen again with Connie seemingky breaking down+shouting at judge. Her mum has just gone in to comfort her. Legal teams have gone.

Is the last tweet from Vinny LBC

Nothing else since from JR

If legal teams have gone I wonder if that is it for the reporting and rest is private now.

MissHavishamsleftdaffodil · 26/07/2017 17:12

Please keep ranting Maryz I'll get you a pager. We need this thread to stay. Although still think an evening decamp to the other place under an innocuous title to keep this off active would solve the evening influx of one off posters unaware of the need to be guideline aware and those who would like to discuss the appropriacy of the thread existing at all.

11122aa · 26/07/2017 17:12

I think GOSH deal with hospices regularly in cases similar to this.

LovelyBath77 · 26/07/2017 17:12

What is the default position, the hospice?

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 26/07/2017 17:13

Probably told a junior to find an ITU doctor, and if he didn't have one by X o clock, just get ANY doctor from their regular expert witness list who is free to be called, then keep looking for ITU doctor to replace first doc?

I can't agree with that. That question is essentially asking if Armstrong and the pro bono
legal team have intentionally misled the court. That is a really serious allegation.

Please can we not pose questions like that where there is absolutely no evidence to that effect

blueskyinmarch · 26/07/2017 17:13

In absolutely not being nasty about the parents. My heart is broken for them. I have lost a child and know what that feels like. I didn't get time with my DD. She wasn't ill, she was killed by someone. I would love to have had a few last moments with her to tell her I loved her and to hug her. The grief is all consuming and can send a person mad.

IdentifiesAsYoda · 26/07/2017 17:13

Aztec

Yes, I wonder that too

My post about turning stones got me thinking about how absolutely stir crazy that'ld drive you! If you're allowed to keep going you cannot stop! The next stone might contain the miracle etc, and how do you give up when you're doing it for your baby?

IdentifiesAsYoda · 26/07/2017 17:13

bluesky

I am so sorry.

MaudGonneMad · 26/07/2017 17:14

Court now locked, media and legal teams outside, CY inside with her mother.
