Ok guys, we have been very lucky to discuss this, please lets not give anyone anything to complain about, Mhq have been more than accomodating.

Its a shame we've lost the JR tweets

Writerwannabe83 · 25/07/2017 21:12

*Saucery

What on earth is the point of deleting this and starting a new one? Madness

Because some people have said they respectfully disagree with the parents' choice to sue GOSH.
It doesn't tow the party line to voice anything but unwavering support of that choice, so I think this Blank Slate thread has been requested, so that everyone is mindful to be fully supportive of C&C's decision to request compensation from the NHS.*

This made me smile Grin

Is anyone else concerned that the CA may have infiltrated HQ?

muckypup73 · 25/07/2017 21:12

Saucery, I find that highly unfair, we do not want the threads removing and the original op was not here.

LogicalPsycho · 25/07/2017 21:12

Sostenueto it's been deleted now.
There was no abuse or blaming. Just people not too impressed that there seems to be an upcoming compensation case against GOSH.

muckypup73 · 25/07/2017 21:13

Writerwannabe83, I do, because someone took something from off here a few days ago about what I said and posted it, it was obvious they were from Ca.

Redglitter · 25/07/2017 21:13

Wonder what's going on over on the CA page. All the posts have been closed and no new posts approved.

oakleaffy · 25/07/2017 21:14

Soda I agree..a few people pressing ''report'' till they get RSI can get a thread closed? crazy. Not seen censorship online before ?

Deux · 25/07/2017 21:14

Hopefully this link works, but here are Joshua Rozenberg's tweets.

Red - I've noticed that.

Apparently CY is commenting on some post on FB. Not sure why one as it's not on the CA page.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 25/07/2017 21:15

to take the thread in a slightly different direction - do any of mn's legal experts think GOSH would have a chance of suing the "professor" for the extra legal costs arising from his behaviour? And could Charlie's guardian sue him on behalf of Charlie - who may have suffered months of pain because his parents were given false hope?

No and no. Not in the UK. No idea about in the American courts and don't know if they would even have jurisdiction.

The guardian is essentially a public office and they will not (a) have the jurisdiction I would think to bring such an action on behalf of Charlie. They only represent his interests in this very specific case. His parents still retain parental responsibilities and (b) in any event wouldn't spend public funds on a speculative action like that (albeit I would think that Charlie may get legal aid if there were reasonable prospects) and (c) very sadly Charlie is likely to die soon so he wouldn't benefit from any damages, it would be his parents

Sostenueto · 25/07/2017 21:15

They were objecting to hospice I thought because they are only allowed a few hours there, not overnight? (Can't work out why only a few hours?).

muckypup73 · 25/07/2017 21:15

oakleaffy, it will be the same old ones, remeber that song? its the same old song....

@redshoeblueshoe

JR tweets from court are here still (I hope I haven't broken any charter but they are in the public domain).

And I hope I have posted the right tweets and link too!

they've actually said they're going to sue GOSH???

wow Biscuit

NorthernLurker · 25/07/2017 21:17

The issues this case raises are issues which can impact on us all. The rights of parents, the medical duty to do no harm, the ambivalence of social media which makes 'going viral' at least as much a curse as a blessing.....

We should be able to discuss those things and in discussing them we will also discuss those participating, inevitably. Do I, as a mother, sympathise with the parents in this case? Absolutely, whole heartedly. Would I fight for my child? Yes I would. Would I do what these parents have done in the cause of that fight? No I would not.

I think some terribly bad decisions have been made in a terribly bad situation. That's not blaming anybody for any of those actions, that's saying what has happened should not have happened and everybody involved has responsibility for that.

TheNightmanCometh · 25/07/2017 21:18

Could anyone clarify if Catherine Glenn Foster said anything to the GOSH barrister Katie Gollop? It sounded like she might have done from one of the LBC tweets but it wasn't very clearly written.

oakleaffy · 25/07/2017 21:18

Mucky...It is bizarre, no one was spiteful? i hear the march of hobnailed boots.

Co1onelblimp · 25/07/2017 21:19

The censhorship on here is really concerning. It seems you can only post in glowing terms about the parents. That seems to be the party line.
This issue is beeing discussed all over social media- no censhirship at all on the forums I dip in and out of!

blueskyinmarch · 25/07/2017 21:20

This case raises so many questions and it is hard not to be critical of how C&C have acted but we really need to be mindful of the fact they are about to lose their son. One day they may look back and wish they had done things differently but right now they are in the midst of overwhelming sadness and grief. We need to cut them some slack.

muckypup73 · 25/07/2017 21:20

DixieNormas, seriously?

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/07/2017 21:20

From GOSH statement

Yesterday, the hospital consulted the Director of Specialised Commissioning NHSE London who stated that it would not be possible to transfer Charlie whilst invasively ventilated for end of life care at home.

So, another reason why it's not going to happen.
