Hi guys new thread.

Let's try to keep this one as sensible and measured as the past 7 threads have been.

Please note the MNHQ comment on thread number 7.

"Hi everyone,

..... We had to remove several parent-blaming posts, so we'd like to ask folk not to do this. We think we can all agree that this is a truly awful time for all involved and we just wouldn't wish it on anyone. If there's anything we could do with more of, it's support. We'll continue to remove reported posts that break TGs (if we've missed something, do feel free to let us know).

If we have to make too many deletions, we will need to look at removing the thread; which is the last thing we wish to do.

Thanks all"

Starting now as 9 will fill up quickly.

The move to the new thread has started....

Lelloteddy · 17/07/2017 19:25

I wish people would just let these threads fill up and end naturally. There seems to be a bit of competition developing to see who can get the next thread set up. It adds to the criticism that some people are enjoying the sensationalism just a bit too much.
I think when the next thread is neede it should be run on the same title, then anyone who has contributed information from an ethical, legal, medical, research or personal perspective can refer back to it.

Venusflytwat · 17/07/2017 19:34

I didn't start the new one out of a sense of competition. I started it because I've been thinking about the issues today since reading the complaint thread and I wanted to try and keep it factual, with the links to the judgements. I actually then carried on posting on the old thread as you can see.

So no, no competition or sensationalism from me, your radar is off there I'm afraid.

Lelloteddy · 17/07/2017 19:42

All of the links can easily be posted on a new thread when the old one is full. The last few threads have 'ended' with 2 or 3 pages of people posting the same message to get people to 'move' IMO it minimises and sensationalises the whole issue. There is NO need for anyone to set up a new thread whilst the old one is still active.

Venusflytwat · 17/07/2017 19:48

You're entitled to your opinion Lello, and I can see your point of view. I can only speak for myself that it was actually an attempt to desensationalise things that motivated me to start the thread. As I said, the criticism from some on the complaint thread has laid heavily on my mind today. I really hope we can find a way of robustly debating the issues without causing them pain.

I know a few threads ago there was suddenly an influx of people who didn't know the basic facts of the case, and it got frustrating trying to direct people to links to the judgements, GOSH FAQs etc over and over again. Having them in or very near the OP has helped with that and some of these threads have moved so fast that links can get sunk quite quickly.

Anyway, that was my rationale, you are of course entitled to think it crap. It's done now I guess so there's no point me continuing to try and justify my thought process.

LovelyBath77 · 17/07/2017 19:53

I started the posts originally and have no problem with others continuing them. in fast am grateful, as no-one can be here all the time. I know people on here are sensible with what they post. The only comment I'd make is perhaps for people searching it might be less easy to find if it says CG Case rather than Charlie Gard. Not sure though Smile

MsHooliesCardigan · 17/07/2017 19:54

That tweet saying that this doctor can support Charlie when GOSH doctors haven't really infuriated me. Those doctors and nurses have been keeping Charlie alive for months and months. Much as I think they're misguided, I do still have empathy for his parents. But some of the CA crowd really need to take a long hard look at themselves.
How hurtful must it be to staff who have dedicated their lives to helping very sick children having to listen to people saying that they can't be bothered or are actively conspiring to kill Charlie when they have no right of reply?
I'm a mental health nurse and there are a few patients over the years that I have really gone the extra 10 miles for by working hours of unpaid overtime, coming in on my day off to accompany them to see their MP and giving them quite substantial amounts of my own money because, otherwise, they would have had no gas, electricity or food.
I will never forget how upsetting it was when a patient's mother who hadn't bothered with her for years turned up suddenly playing the concerned parent and told me that I didn't give a shit about any patients and was only doing my job for the money Hmm
I can't imagine what it's like having that played out on SM.

LovelyBath77 · 17/07/2017 19:55

I know MsHoolies. Flowers

MsHooliesCardigan · 17/07/2017 20:07

Thank you Lovely it's appreciated Flowers

Oh dear, if the speculation above is right then I am actually really sad. Surprisingly, for C&C, rather than for Charlie. I hadn't warmed to them, but when I read that, I had her tired sad face in my head and nearly cried for her.

LikeAFish · 17/07/2017 21:11

Can I just say that I work in paeds and oromorph has always been a controlled drug in every trust I've worked in, needing to be signed in and out by two nurses and measured.

oakleaffy · 17/07/2017 21:18

What is happening on CA ..another CA member who questioned CA has been blocked.
Names edited out.
A member was asked if she supported CA and she replied [copy and paste]
not anymore no, it's gone on far too long now, we've all been led to believe that Charlie was a lot better than he actually is etc. The kind thing would be to let him go. Like I said, I've got my reasons for saying that so don't jump down my throat please

oakleaffy · 17/07/2017 21:27

A reply before this questioning woman was blocked [when a user is blocked their name is greyed out] was this :
''

  • Not going to jump down anyone's throat, we are all entitled to our own opinions its just how some people word it.

I do have to ask though, since you do not support Charlie why are you still in Charlies Army? X''

She then got the order of the boot.
What is sad is that it is a gang mentality, anyone thinking outside ;the party line' is perceived as a threat and excluded [often with unpleasant bullying comments and sly eyed emojis.

It was possible to view CA pages without being a member of FB ubtil a couple of days ago.

Oramorph (Morphine sulfate 10mg/5ml) is not a Controlled Drug, although many Trusts follow CD storage and recording for it. It is quite legal for a single nurse to measure, issue and sign for a dose of Oramorph, although depending on the Trust, they may require a second checker.

My OH pointed out some very useful and explanatory posts on piston heads (of all places) by someone who has deep knowledge of the condition affecting Charlie, as well as what's being proposed as 'treatment' and why it sadly can't work.

I've been reading the posts and they are extremely good at explaining the very complex issues, including what's incorrect in a lot of the media.

The poster has also said that they'd be happy for people to take their material to use elsewhere, if it's useful.

The person is called 'Wiccan of Darkness' and the posts are in here if they are of any interest.

(I would try to copy and paste some of the explanations myself but not convinced I won't screw it up.)

Justaboy · 18/07/2017 14:26

ShellyBoobs excellent article that now why cannot the barmey army understand the bit about the duff DNA?..

nippiesweetie · 19/07/2017 05:32

Can I point out that NI does not pay for healthcare. It is supposed to be for pensions and social security. In reality it's all tax and ends up in the same pot.

The NHS is funded from general taxation.

cjt110 · 19/07/2017 11:13

Morning all.

Have seen 2 stories relating to Charlie this mornibng following he expert's meeting. DM link (Sorry!) Apparently the NY expert has not convinced the GOSH experts about the treatment in America and also Charlie has been granted US citizenship....
