Hi guys new thread.

Let's try to keep this one as sensible and measured as the past 7 threads have been.

Please note the MNHQ comment on thread number 7.

"Hi everyone,

..... We had to remove several parent-blaming posts, so we'd like to ask folk not to do this. We think we can all agree that this is a truly awful time for all involved and we just wouldn't wish it on anyone. If there's anything we could do with more of, it's support. We'll continue to remove reported posts that break TGs (if we've missed something, do feel free to let us know).

If we have to make too many deletions, we will need to look at removing the thread; which is the last thing we wish to do.

Thanks all"

Starting now as 9 will fill up quickly.

I have a feeling that he's going to end up being their new scapegoat and hate figure as opposed to laying all their blame at GOSH before too long.

Or they will blame GOSH for drawing him into their conspiracy.

TheWeeWitch · 16/07/2017 19:50

"No one knows what Charlie is feeling, but when doctors disagree, I think there is a strong argument that the parents should have the final say on further treatment."

No, @Lizzzar , the doctors don't disagree about Charlie. It's the parents who disagree with the doctors.

Writerwannabe83 · 16/07/2017 19:52

Considering a chunk of CA think that C&C should just walk out of PICU with Charlie in a maxi cosi, yeah, I'm sure they do think it's as simple as going on trivago and booking a flight.

I'm sorry but that nearly made me choke on my drink Grin Grin

Lelloteddy · 16/07/2017 19:52

I mentioned on the other thread that there was actually a CA poster who said that she couldn't wait to see the picture of Charlie being carried onto the flight by his parents so they could start their new life in the USA. Heartbreaking in it's naivety, yet scary in that some people actually believe that's what will happen.

Sostenueto · 16/07/2017 19:52

Nquartz yes I am worried too but haven't seen friend either. Am keep fingers crossed all is ok.Sad

TheFairyCaravan · 16/07/2017 19:53

I really wouldn't want to be in Dr Hirano's shoes if he says Charlie isn't suitable for the treatment.

TinselTwins · 16/07/2017 19:54

Doctors fees and cost of medication is the tip of the iceburg on an American medical bill

Absolutely NOTHING is "all in"
You get charged for the gloves the nurses used, every little thing. Just being IN the hospital as an inpatient runs up thousands per day before doctor has been near you or a med has passed your lips!

"they've found a doctor that is willing to treat him" = easy peasy deal done to CA

How can people be so clueless about the reality of US healthcare??

TinselTwins · 16/07/2017 19:56

I'm sorry but that nearly made me choke on my drink

I wish I was joking! That is exactly what they suggested after the last court result!

Ellie56 · 16/07/2017 19:56

Is Dr Hirano charging for his visit? And if so, who is paying? The NHS?

muckypup73 · 16/07/2017 19:58

Ellie56, I reckon so

annandale · 16/07/2017 19:58

I thought a huge chunk of the fundraising they have done has been for the costs of the medevac flight. I think in fact they are aware of those costs.

TinselTwins · 16/07/2017 19:59

Is Dr Hirano charging for his visit? And if so, who is paying? The NHS?

Expert witnesses are usually paid to give evidence in court, I'm sure he would be eligible to charge expenses for the trip. I would have thought that since the parents legal teams are the ones that called him to give evidence, it'ld be their firms who pay?

muckypup73 · 16/07/2017 20:00

Sostenueto, hello luvvy, hope youve poured me a glass lol

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 16/07/2017 20:00

Or they will blame GOSH for drawing him into their conspiracy pretty much that. He'll been bribed by them or something..the usual rubbish.

TinselTwins that's the sad thing like you say think it's that easy. Already been talks of why can't the parents just walk out..Someone said as they kind of can't due to the care he needs and being on a ventilator etc ..followed by replies of get the secret service or Trump to get him out...ermmmm

alcibiades · 16/07/2017 20:04

I was watching a documentary series yesterday about very ill babies being transported to specialist PICUs in Scotland. This is a retrieval service that covers all of Scotland and as far as Belfast. The degree of pre-planning and care needed for what, in comparison, are fairly short flights was incredible. One thing I took note of in particular was how they had to ensure the breathing tube was in the best position, because of the risk it could get moved while in flight. Multiply that by how long Charlie would be in the air, with possible severe turbulence, and the risk is huge.

CaveMum · 16/07/2017 20:05

This gives a good idea of the costs charged in US hospitals - a bill for giving birth:

I'm surprised CA haven't called on the army to do a medevac. They are the experts after all.

Ta1kinPeace · 16/07/2017 20:07

looking forward to thread 11 which may have less alcohol and more rational discussion in its posts ....

hopefully we'll hear some good news from lonelymummy soon too

LogicalPsycho · 16/07/2017 20:08

Is Dr Hirano charging for his visit? And if so, who is paying? The NHS?

The NHS have already gone above and beyond.
The whole reason there is an online shop selling Charlie merchandise is explained with the tagline, "all money raised goes directly to Charlie's Fight"

Dr Hirano is being hailed by the family as "the Man who will save Charlie".

So surely he is exactly what all that money was raised for?

Ellie56 · 16/07/2017 20:08

If it was as easy to take Charlie out of the hospital as CA think, Connie and Chris would have taken him out and gone to America long ago.

LapinR0se · 16/07/2017 20:10

If Dr Hirano received even a penny from Charlie's family then he would be ethically conflicted.

GabsAlot · 16/07/2017 20:11

i think one of the posts said get 007 to take him

stitchglitched · 16/07/2017 20:11

Deux I did see one CA post suggesting the Royal Marines could swoop in and take him Confused

sodablackcurrant · 16/07/2017 20:11

There may be a bit of a vacuum now until tomorrow's meeting and news.

Nature abhors a vacuum. So take that as you will.

No news. Filled with.......

LapinR0se · 16/07/2017 20:12

I highly doubt we will hear anything at all after tomorrow's meeting
