Watching the news just now and I can't believe my eyes. It looks absolutely horrific.

I want to think everyone got out safe, but sadly I just can't.

Some of the news reports are about alleged poor safety standards and dangerous living conditions. If that's true it just beggars belief.

OP posts:

there was someone on from Camden council earlier stating that accommodation will be provided for every single displaced family - she said the boroughs will work together to ensure this. She then listed 4 venues the people could present to.

HelenaDove · 14/06/2017 14:41

Condensed im guessing you have been through a lot yourrself to hang on to it after a split Thanks

SarahMused · 14/06/2017 14:42

The queen must have a few spare rooms at Kensington Palace. Perhaps she could do her bit for the community.

roseTablewood · 14/06/2017 14:42

"They'll be put in hotels Bog." that's good to know, who will be paying for this?

HelenaDove · 14/06/2017 14:43

Thats good news user.

Changedenomnom · 14/06/2017 14:43

Rose- eventually, the insurance company. In the short term, the management company

The80sweregreat · 14/06/2017 14:43

its so sad and horrible - an awful awful thing that could have been avoided going by the news reports.
Every time i put the news on now its all also sad and gloomy and heartbreaking.
Heart goes out to the victims and their family and friends. The ones fighting for their lives too. Thank god we do ( still) have an NHS to treat people.

user1496484020 · 14/06/2017 14:44

Chelsea & Westminster council will pay for it.

The80sweregreat · 14/06/2017 14:45

I hope that a funding page is set up in a day or so.

WallisofWindsor · 14/06/2017 14:45

I remember watching that South African girl (in the picture) on X- Factor
She is such a brilliant singer. So tragic. Praying for all Flowers

TheBogQueen · 14/06/2017 14:45

I can't imagine what it must be like to lose everything like that. In a few hours. And that's without the loss of life too.

I'm glad they will have a roof over their heads even if it's just a hotel.

The queen oferknv rooms at Kensington palace would be an amazing gesture -but it's not going to happen is it.

Changedenomnom · 14/06/2017 14:46

Chelsea and Westminster aren't even a council, it's the royal
Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. There is no reason they need to pay for it as far as I can see- the management company will pay and in the very short term it won't even be expensive. Then they'll begin negotiating with insurers for a medium to long term
Solution.

ChinaRose · 14/06/2017 14:46

Echo the Queen comment. Pretty sure the palace round the corner has enough space. Wonder if they'll come forward?

Here Are The Questions The Government Needs To Answer About The Grenfell Tower Fire
Why wasn't there a review of fire safety regulations in tower blocks? Why weren't sprinkler systems fitted into blocks? Are other buildings safe?

Decent summary of questions.

CoralDreamscapes · 14/06/2017 14:47

There are over 1000 empty homes in the borough at the moment. Perhaps people could donate their keys to these (also not going to happen)

Dumdedumdedum · 14/06/2017 14:47

Aren't Kensington the council responsible?

Changedenomnom · 14/06/2017 14:47

Questions from people who don't know anything about fire safety though. I wouldn't be going to buzz feed for information.

Lagirafe · 14/06/2017 14:48

Do other blocks have the same cladding does anyone know?

CoralDreamscapes · 14/06/2017 14:51

I am guessing all of the cladding on the buildings on the right hand side list may be the same?

RedToothBrush · 14/06/2017 14:52

Fire expert: Grenfell Tower tragedy 'entirely predictable'

‘What we saw at Lakanal House should have been enough to make people think about what was going on with the outside of our buildings in terms of cladding.’

The80sweregreat · 14/06/2017 14:54

I cant see the Queen getting involved somehow.

I am not being goady, but i 've never known the Royals to do that much for anyone, even during the blitz they hid away in their nice homes going on about the bulldog spirit and all that ( my parents and inlaws lived through the blitz in WW2) it used to make my mum laugh that they pretended they had to have rationing and not much water in the bath. she knew it was rubbish! Would be lovely if they did do something though and prove me wrong.

Goingtobeawesome · 14/06/2017 14:54

@DanceTheBlues thank you so much for posting about the older man. I'm crying again but with relief.

CondensedMilkSarnies · 14/06/2017 14:55

How must you feel if your flats are
Covered in this cladding ? Even if it's not to blame that's cold comfort for the residents at the moment .
