start here

should have thrown turkeys at him obviously.

i can't argue your lat post elf - becuase its my argument entirely to be against the death penalty. that we may take one innocent life.

ELF1981 · 16/02/2007 14:02

I have always sat on the fence re death penalty. I sit on the fence for a lot of things actually! One moment I think yep, string 'em up, the other I think lock 'em away. I believe Life should mean Life, not out in 15 yrs.

I look at my little girl and feel I would want to tear somebody from limb to limb if they hurt her, but could I then live with myself?

Tortington · 16/02/2007 14:04

i recognise that i have 2 seperate thought processes - one as things should apply to a wider society - and then what i would probably like to think i would do.

ELF1981 · 16/02/2007 14:06

My mums answer is to brand people, and let the general public take care of it, which somebody would do, but that always sits a little uneasy with me too.

AitchTwoOh · 16/02/2007 15:09

i agree with custy. i'd want to tear someone's throat out with my bare hands if they harmed dd, but i recognise that as exactly why we have a judicial system so that i am not the person making that decision.

kimi · 16/02/2007 16:13

Can we hang and lynch here then?

paulaplumpbottom · 16/02/2007 16:14

I don't agree with the death penalty but I have no problem with people being locked up until they are old and grey. These sorts of people are a danger to society and I just don't think 10 years will rehabilitate them.

TaylorsMummy · 16/02/2007 16:15

for most things i am against the dealth penalty but for a disgusting beast that rapes and kills a 2 year old child in her bed there is only one punishment imo (that or life - which means life with no chance of parol - ever)

kimi · 16/02/2007 16:16

Im with US,Oliveoil and Littlebo on this, hang um!

I know we all have to be nice and PC and blame everyone and everything except the actions of the person who committed the crime.
Pop them in prison with a slap on the wrist and a play station.
I live near a womans prison and when it was built us locals got a tour and it was sickening, more like a hotel then a bloody prison and my taxes paid for it.
If scum like this go to prison then a 8x8 with a bucket to shit in should be what they get not a bloody 4* room. They let these people out of the prison near me with their prison issue bag and they head stright for the local londis and stand outside it drinking at 9.30 in the morning, pillers of socity they aint.

Just ask yourself (god forbid) what if your child was taken from you, raped and murdered, would you want a justice system that delt out a slap on the wrist, because god forbid if someone did that to my child I would rip them limb from limb with my bare hands.
By the same way of thinking if one of my sons grew up to be a sick evil child killer i would tie the knot in the noose myself (while you all could blame his upbringing).

(MOVED FROM OTHER THREAD)

paulaplumpbottom · 16/02/2007 16:17

I also agree that prison should be prison. Hard work and no luxuries. They need that Sheriff from Arizona over here.

bossykate · 16/02/2007 16:18

hang em and flog em.

oops i forgot i'm a liberal leftie pinko for a sec

Pann · 16/02/2007 16:18

yep. Hang and lynchings are available in some places.

pinko liberal. I am presuming this is used as a term to insult.

Is it to differentiate people from U.S. southern 'red-necks'?

Pann · 16/02/2007 16:19

oh, and "PC", another term of abuse, I take it?

TaylorsMummy · 16/02/2007 16:20

why do people assume that if you are in favour of the death penalty for a child killer you must want them hung, drawn and quatered or something i wouldn't give a toss how it was done as long as he wasn't in a position to do the same thing again.

castration is also a good idea imo although don't know if it would actually work

paulaplumpbottom · 16/02/2007 16:22

They have had great success with voluntary castration in the States.

Pann · 16/02/2007 16:24

"castration is also a good idea imo although don't know if it would actually work " from TM...

excellent example of your clarity of thought and it's practical application, TM. If you don't mind me saying....

TaylorsMummy · 16/02/2007 16:25

I just mean I don't know the practicalities of castration, that's all Pann, no need to get sarcy

paulaplumpbottom · 16/02/2007 16:31

It is very practical TM. Its certainly cheaper than keeping them in prison. Its done chemically.

Pann · 16/02/2007 16:32

Sooo, why do you think it is a good idea?

But we aren't concerned with good ideas here, it seems. Just in venting alot of self-indulgent, violent and ultimately self-serving noise. Nothing to do with much else.

TaylorsMummy · 16/02/2007 16:33

if you don't like the thread Pann, I'm not sure why you are bothering to post

why do I think it's a good idea? errm, let me think, maybe to stop any more innocent children being victim of these disgusting bastards. That do you?

SenoraPostrophe · 16/02/2007 16:35

Pann - many of us on this site are pinko liberal and proud. Jan didn't mean it as a term of insult.

I'd join in but I don't have the energy. "voluntary" castration huh? let me just check those US crime/prison stats...

VeniVidiVickiQV · 16/02/2007 16:38

But how can you think its a good idea if you dont know it works ie "maybe to stop any more innocent children being victim of these disgusting bastards" TM?

JanH · 16/02/2007 16:39

Oh god, no I didn't no - thanks, SP

Pann, I started this as a diversion from the one about the little girl, to get it out of active conversations. Pinko liberal was a quote from one of the string 'em up posts there.

OP posts:
JanH · 16/02/2007 16:39

Too many no's there.

And is that apostrophe correct?

OP posts:
NadineBaggott · 16/02/2007 16:40

I think we should rehabilitate the bastards
