15 year old girl has been found guilty of murder

In my town this happened

Liz Edwards and her daughter Katie was found murdered by a boy and girl aged 14 at the time

The boy admitted murder. The girl didn't. She admitted to manslaughter instead, despite all the evidence it was her idea.

Today she's been found guilty. Good. She's just as bad as he is. I hope the justice system gives them a good jail sentence

please remember that as they are underage it is illegal to name them. If you do know who they are (as I know it's quite common knowledge at least around here) you cannot identify them at all!

I didn't find it in 5 mins but the reports just after it happened have clues.

I still don't understand what the motive can be though.

If no one will say it openly then maybe that is an indication that speculating about it is pointless. People egging each other on to find out who they are. These are children. A family are utterly destroyed. Why do people need to know their names.

Birds we will not say it openly as it would be contempt of court, which is a serious crime.

I have reported this disgusting, prurient thread.

Just a reminder that we don't think it's in the spirit of Mumsnet to speculate in this way
Thanks ever so

Not sure why mine was deleted. I didn't speculate, say any names or any identifiable information. I just stated I didn't think it would remain hidden for long as a result of social media.

I just discovered the link but not the motive. I will never understand it even if I knew it anyway tbh. Wow just horrific Sad

lasketchup · 18/10/2016 22:44

I think because you said who was reporting it over social media. That's how I found it out, CatchingBabies

Report
CatchingBabies · 18/10/2016 22:46

Oh ok whoops. Didn't say the persons name though and the person reporting it hasn't been named I don't think.

It's really not difficult to find out - horrible case.

Yes Beattie I understand that. So therefore unless you want to commit contempt, this thread is pointless and unpleasant.

It's a shocking crime, people will discuss it. I'm not sure what is "disgusting" or "purient" about it.

The issue with regards to anonymity is an difficult one and will be of increasing importance society, far beyond this case.

The "awful thing" is that 2 teenagers plotted to kill and killed 2 people for very little motive that I can see. People discussing the awful thing is just normal, particularly when the media is so vague about it all and it is so unusual and horrific.
You choose to click on this thread, it's easy to avoid.

I agree balletgirlmum. If it's the same site I saw they have loads of cases on there too! The information is literally just there you don't even need to search for it. names and social media sites too! How is all that allowed to remain?

Report
Balletgirlmum · 18/10/2016 23:00

That's not the site I meant (though I think I know which you are referring to)

This is mainstream news sites relating to previous events that Im guessing have a bearing on these tragic events.

I find it odd that it's not in the public domain. Why is this case less bad than the Jamie Bulger case? In that case 2 boys who I don't think were even teenagers killed a wee boy. They were both named after they had been found guilty.
I don't see why this pair aren't being named when they killed 2 people. It is a horrible crime and they aren't little kids who don't know right from wrong.

I had assumed the older victim worked at the murderers' school and it was a grudge. I feel really sick at the actual (if the Internet is to be believed) link between them. It's the stuff of nightmares.

i think i read this originally HERe when it happened.
