15 year old girl has been found guilty of murder

In my town this happened

Liz Edwards and her daughter Katie was found murdered by a boy and girl aged 14 at the time

The boy admitted murder. The girl didn't. She admitted to manslaughter instead, despite all the evidence it was her idea.

Today she's been found guilty. Good. She's just as bad as he is. I hope the justice system gives them a good jail sentence

please remember that as they are underage it is illegal to name them. If you do know who they are (as I know it's quite common knowledge at least around here) you cannot identify them at all!

I would agree that it is the work of seconds to find out further details with regards to the perpetrators.

Maybe we live an a post-anonymity age?

It's a horrific case and no, I don't believe the "If they hadn't met, it wouldn't have happened" line, because the nonchalance and lack of remorse indicates far deeper issues.

Oh shit, sorry. I'll report it myself. I wasn't thinking.

It's easy to do that when it comes to this case

Anonymity is almost impossible nowadays. The whole thing is just so horrifying and sad. I think people are nosy about it (me included) for the very reason that the victims are just ordinary people, like us.

Emotional turmoil but no MH issues.
Unbelievable. Who knows what happens to people really though?

Nitpicking here but the 'Australian' case was actually in New Zealand.

Back to the point of the thread, this is a horrible and very sad story. I feel so sad for those left behind to try to make sense of it all.

Maybe we live an a post-anonymity age?

I think we do. In this case it is easy to find out the identity of the perpetrators.

I can find the perpetrators easily but not the motive.

Report
AyeAmarok · 18/10/2016 21:10

What on earth was the motive for this?

Awful case. Agree that it's hard to believe that someone could do this and not have mental health problems.

But then is "evil" a MH condition? I suppose I'd say no.

I think what's so awful about these sorts of crimes committed by teens, and teenage suicides, too, is that they have no idea what they're really doing. As an adult you know that give it a few months, or even a year or two, they'll feel completely different, but at that point they give in to their feelings and fuck, it's the rest of their lives and everyone else's lives, too, that are affected.

True Imperial.

But because they've actually done this, they will both always be a bit hardened to it, and so I'd doubt they could ever be completely rehabilitated.

Very sad all round.

I don't know how everyone else finds out more information about this case "in 5 minutes" I've tried and have come up with nothing that hasn't been on mainstream news.

They don't. Nobody knows anything that hasn't been on the mainstream news. They just do the "ooh, I know a secret" routine.

Every woman her own CSI officer..........

I have searched and can't find the perpetrators or a motive- perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place. What on earth had this poor mother/daughter done to the couple? Can someone PM me?

Same here rollonthesummer - I am no use at deducing stuff - hopeless at Cluedo etc

Having read numerous news reports I am no further on and still wondering why this poor lady and her daughter were murdered.

It took me under a minute to google and find their names and photographs. The information is out there if you want it,
nobody's doing a 'I know a secret' routine because it's not a very well hidden 'secret' in the first place.

AyeAmarok · 18/10/2016 21:57

Trying to keep the link between the murderer and the victims a secret is futile. Anonymity in a case like this is never going to work.

The news reports actually made it worse I think as the information was even more conspicuous by its absence.

No one is doing CSI. No one will say openly as it is not allowed.

Same here drama, the info is definitely there and it is accurate.

It's an utterly devastating case. One day, when they realise what they have done...can you just imagine?

For me, the most demonstrative part of the account was what happened afterwards - the eating of ice cream, watching Twilight etc. Horrifying and evil.

DanyellasDonkey · 18/10/2016 22:03

Ah, got it now
