So will it be Free Movement or not?

Given that most Brexiters wanted reduced immigration, would it be a real stich-up if the powers that be go for a free trade deal that has to include continued free movement of people within the EU? I suspect that this will be the outcome. How would you feel about that?

Perfectly fine. How did you think it would go? That thousands of people would quit their jobs and hundreds of companies would be able to afford to let them go? I would expect a new trade agreement to honour previous working practice, with the only difference being that we can trade with who we like.

Exactly. Immigration will carry on as before. I voted leave but even I know that immigration is not really the problem.

Then I don't understand why the Leave campaign made such a big deal of it

Anyway, I look forward to finding out who are those mysterious new trade partners for the UK

Immigration control was obviously an issue for some and is still being used as an excuse for dreadful behaviour, but personally speaking, I don't think it's an immediately solvable problem. New trade avenues can certainly be explored however. The EU's grip on the worlds markets was steadily falling and as an independent concern we might be able to use that.

We can trade with who we like, we just get to trade freely with the EU.
Part of the negotiation is expected to be EU requirement for free movement.
Effectively BJ wants free trade in EU and free movement. So exactly what we have at the moment then.......

So the UK is leaving the UE and then it will negotiate a deal with it that will involve a return to the free trade and free movement that it now has (and will also allow the Uk to find new trade partners somewhere?)

This does not sound like the Leave campaign at all. Sounds a lot more boring. And a waste of time.

How would you stop free movement within Europe anyway? Visas when going from Ireland to Northern Ireland, with a giant wall in between?

If they copy the Australian system, we'll have work permits based on points and electronic visas for shorter visits

That doesn't actually answer the question. You can have all the point you want but how do you stop people walking into the UK (NI) from Europe (Ireland)?

Looking at that article, I can't quite work it out.

Is he advocating an EEA style set-up with freedom of movement?

Or does he actually think he can demand from the EU freedom for UK citizens to travel, work and study across Europe, but a points-based system for EU-citizens to come here? If so, he's fucking delusional.

I am 100% convinced he wants to throw the leadership contest to someone else and run as far away from this mess as possible.

The referendum was on whether or not to leave the EU. No more, no less. Assuming that parliament chooses to take the advice, it is up to them to decide what that looks like. How would they work out what 17 million different people envisioned that to look like and deliver to all of them anyway? Especially when some of what was envisioned was based on lies and/or fantasy in any case.
