No agree about second thoughts dittany. Mind you, I don't anyone is applauding the titles resurrection are they? Despite how often I do seem to be refreshing it.

GLaDOS · 22/03/2009 22:48

As you were - it's an old thread. Cali is safely still rescued.

(Thought it v. odd!)

GLaDOS · 22/03/2009 22:50

Anyone watching Shirley Valentine?

Which of the same posters who were attacking Jade are expressing their sadness on the other thread wannabe?

I've asked this question already but no-one has answered.

oh sorry dittany, i assumed that you were going to take this line of enquiry somewhere... why were you wanting to know in that case?

noddyholder · 22/03/2009 22:51

NotAnOtter · 22/03/2009 22:52

That is a perfectly reputatable post-grad course. I fail to see what was offensive about it.

NotAnOtter · 23/03/2009 20:43
Hmm
GLaDOS · 23/03/2009 21:33

What? ?

LynetteScavo · 23/03/2009 21:37

Jesus Wept!

I have screamed at my own mother that I hated her when I was younger...doesn't mean I want to see her dead!!!

Karl is a first class twat.

NotAnOtter · 23/03/2009 22:24

if you failed to see what is offensive about it then i suggest you need therapy

do you come here often?

GLaDOS · 24/03/2009 08:33

NotanOtter, it's not a therapy course. Does anyone on here actually read posts properly or would that ruin the fun of constantly jumping to the worst possible conclusion about other MN'etters?

saraya · 24/03/2009 09:10

isn;t it so sad that we are asked to celeberate people of the like of Jade and her husband when there are literally thousands out there who are dying or have died of cancer and did way more than get paid for silly photoshoots. i think it is so sad and such a disgrace for those honest unknown people who suffer and who mean so much to others. She certainly got what she wanted out of life didn't she!

GLaDOS · 24/03/2009 09:17

But isn;t it that when people celebrate Jade they celebrate all the other anonymous people? That's why she was a 'reality tv' star. She represented the people who never normally made it onto telly.

AitchTwoOh · 24/03/2009 09:46

except that they all think they can get on telly now, and that's why we have jeremy kyle.

Threadworm · 24/03/2009 09:51

Oh God, Jade didn't represent anyone. I'm anonymous and she certainly didn't represent me.

If she represents anything at all it is just how completely crap our media culture is.

AitchTwoOh · 24/03/2009 09:55

i know, the telly's not short of talent-free boors. did anyone see stewart lee last night? e4? lol.

BabyBaby123 · 24/03/2009 10:01

she hardly got what she wanted out of like saraya! she died a the age of 27.....

GLaDOS · 24/03/2009 10:24

Why was she so popular then Threadworm? She represnted someone - as class maybe - one that is usually deemed vulgar?

AitchTwoOh · 24/03/2009 10:54

the sun is bought by a lot of people, it's popular because it serves a constituency. i think jade served that constituency as well. she seemed like a sweet lassie, quite funny, quite vulnerable in BB (although bullied that girl sophie awfully as i recall), plus i think that the tab readers felt bad having called her a pig so when she came out and lost weight, did all her articles etc they took her to their hearts. i don't read hello, ok, tabs etc so i didn't. iykwim? i don't have any investment in her or her brand. i just watched her on bb and cbb (where it all went tits up for her) and for me then she disappeared again until she got sick.

kingprawnjalfrezi · 24/03/2009 11:07

I think everyone is missing the point - the fact our media culture is so crap is that people buy the ridiculous magazines and tabloids that are produced. If you buy OK magazine you are effectively paying to see Jade die. You can't then complain about how low the media are. In my opinion, next time you think about buying Ok, hello, Alreet or whatever, you should put a couple of quid in a charity box instead.

GLaDOS · 24/03/2009 11:45

So is it the media culture that is crap or the people? I'm confused..

NotAnOtter · 24/03/2009 11:56

i know it is not a therapy course

GLaDOS · 24/03/2009 12:05

Dittany is interested in feminism and the issues about female oppression. This is a course about that. I would really love to have a conversati8on with Dittany where it didn;t rapidly get out of hand because she jumps to the worst conclusions about people who challenge certain facets of feminism. I've been on MN for a long time. I like Ditanny, but I also worry about her. I'm entitled to do that. Is that what makes me need therapy? If not why not be more specific.
