couldnt possibly read ALL the posts, but wanted to add acouple of points. I think that channel 4 should take some of the responsibility - not for what has been happening, but for what has been shown. the evening programmes is not live and they should not have shown such a collection of abuse.
Secondly, im that sad that i was on the bigbrother www on Wednesday and was disgusted to see this:
"Today the girls were civil as Shilpa helped the glamour girl do her hair. Danielle looked almost embarrassed as the Indian fiddled with her fringe, as if there was something she wanted to get off her amply formed chest."
Why are they themselves referring to Shilpa as 'the Indian'?
i cant help feeling sorry for Jade - no she's not blameless AT ALL, but I think the validity in the points she was making has been all but lost by the manner in which she expressed them. I worry for her about the reception she will receive.
that said, there's a little something inside me that thinks she will recover well from this and turn it to her advantage. By that i mean she may become patron of the ex-bullying or bullying awareness campaign - if there are such campaigns. Its not too dissimilar to the way attitudes and aware about sexual harrassment and domestic violence has evolved, IMO. I think she will probabaly work hard to raise awareness and admit that she did not recognise that her behaviour could be interpreted as abusive and racist....
then we'll probably have even MORE of her on our screens as she works hard to try and exhonorate herself. Methinks.
