Celebrity Big Brother: is it really racist or 'just' bullying and bitchiness?

I'm really not sure where I stand. A lot of it just sems like school girl horridness

I think if they handle it right, having no audience could be very striking and shocking to Jade. Not if Davina ruins it with sycophantic matiness, though. I think it could be a much more dignified and effective way of dealing with it, though whether Jade is bright enough to appreciate it is another matter.

fartmeistergeneral · 19/01/2007 13:43

Jo obviously went in there to kick start her singing career. She's definitely tarred with the same brush as Danielle and Jade. Only seen wee bits but those 3 always seem to be together and Jo is a bit sniggery behind a cushion-y iykwim.

Anyway, back to dog breeding for her. Those furry mammals will forgive ANYTHING!

Bananaknickers · 19/01/2007 13:43

Could you imagine though if C4 had let crowds in and someone gunned her down on the steps? Bet there are some that would take it to the extreme

LieselVentouse · 19/01/2007 13:45

It would make great viewing though

Freckle · 19/01/2007 13:46

C4 have clearly had words with the three witches as, if things had continued, C4's broadcasting licence might have been at stake. The terms of their licence probably specifically prohibits broadcasts of this nature.

The fact that there will be no crowd tonight will surely show Jade how terribly far wrong she has gone. As you say, the most hated contestant, Grace (not that I have any idea who she is), had to face the booing crowds. I hope it is made clear to Jade why the crowds were banned - and the fact that she is to have police protection (for which I truly hope C4 will be paying through the nose) must surely bring home to her that she is totally vilified.

sockmonkey · 19/01/2007 13:46

DH said last night after the show that they ought to hand out eggs to the crowd for when she leaves. He is pretty mild mannered usually. Maybe the whole no-crowd thing is for safety, as I am sure some would try and take it to that extreme... maybe not murder, but projectiles of some sort.

LieselVentouse · 19/01/2007 13:48

Ooooh projectiles yeah that would be good (((polishes hand grenade)))

fartmeistergeneral · 19/01/2007 13:48

I don't think it's outwith the bounds of possibility these days that someone wouldn't take a shot at her tbh. They're burning effigies in India fgs!!!!

Not of her, of some Carphone Warehouse mascot (only found this out on other thread, thought it actually was Jade).

sleepyted · 19/01/2007 13:49

Danielle and Jo will be licking up to Shilpa BIG TIME once Jade has gone.

Booboobedoo · 19/01/2007 13:54

Not sure about her 'deserving' a baying crowd tbh. Anyone seen 'Brazil'?

Off the topic of Jade for a mo, this was in Private Eye:

'In the cruel way of modern TV, Tourette and Sayer had been thrown together in the house despite the fact that Donny had once slept with Leo's wife. If the executives were aware of this fact, they're immoral; if they weren't aware, they're incompetent. Neither is desirable.'

Who believes they weren't aware?

igotissues · 19/01/2007 13:55

couldnt possibly read ALL the posts, but wanted to add acouple of points. I think that channel 4 should take some of the responsibility - not for what has been happening, but for what has been shown. the evening programmes is not live and they should not have shown such a collection of abuse.

Secondly, im that sad that i was on the bigbrother www on Wednesday and was disgusted to see this:

"Today the girls were civil as Shilpa helped the glamour girl do her hair. Danielle looked almost embarrassed as the Indian fiddled with her fringe, as if there was something she wanted to get off her amply formed chest."

Why are they themselves referring to Shilpa as 'the Indian'?

i cant help feeling sorry for Jade - no she's not blameless AT ALL, but I think the validity in the points she was making has been all but lost by the manner in which she expressed them. I worry for her about the reception she will receive.

that said, there's a little something inside me that thinks she will recover well from this and turn it to her advantage. By that i mean she may become patron of the ex-bullying or bullying awareness campaign - if there are such campaigns. Its not too dissimilar to the way attitudes and aware about sexual harrassment and domestic violence has evolved, IMO. I think she will probabaly work hard to raise awareness and admit that she did not recognise that her behaviour could be interpreted as abusive and racist....

then we'll probably have even MORE of her on our screens as she works hard to try and exhonorate herself. Methinks.

Channel 4 Statement re tonight's eviction:

"Over the past few days, Celebrity Big Brother has generated an intense and, at times, heated public debate which the evicted housemate will be unaware of.

As a result, Channel 4 and Endemol have taken the decision to conduct tonight's eviction in front of a studio audience and without a crowd."

LucyJones · 19/01/2007 13:56

Donny had slept with Leo's wife????

OP posts:
Booboobedoo · 19/01/2007 13:57

Apparently so

Freckle · 19/01/2007 13:57

She probably did it deliberately as a way of showing that she's not "raschall" and uses such terms as an endearment.

fartmeistergeneral · 19/01/2007 13:57

apparently

mummylin2495 · 19/01/2007 13:58

igotissues jade has just been taken off of the the anti bullying organisation.

igotissues · 19/01/2007 14:01

also have to say that i heard Jade say "muckawallah" NOT "fuckawallah" - not that is excuses her in any way.

BUT WORSE THAN THAT!

on the live show last night, Danielle laughing referred to H as 'gay boy'. She is the real bigot and the instigator and has become two-faced in an attempt to save face. She strikes me as very insecure and unbalanced.

enough now, my lunch break's over!

igotissues · 19/01/2007 14:02

last quick post. i know Jade's off the anti-bullying campaign. I just think she'll try and approach the issue from a different angle - from the point of ex-bullies who didnt realise the affect of their behaviour.

JoolsToo · 19/01/2007 14:03

tonight's interview will all be about how 'we have patched up our differences' 'we're friends now' blah blah

fartmeistergeneral · 19/01/2007 14:04

Danielle called H 'gay boy'?????

She is such a naive, gullible little girl. Just trying to be in with the 'in crowd'.

Apart from the obvious, what does Teddy Sheringham see in her?

JoolsToo · 19/01/2007 14:08

someone on DSpy recorded the 'justify' convo - here it is

"I taped E4+1, no way of getting onto YouTube, this is what was said...

As Danielle emerges from diary room sound returns, Jo and Jade are mid conversation...

Jo: ..no-one looking after me

Jade: I'll have a word with John

Jo: they could have written anything about me now

Jade: No, that doesn't matter in all fairness, and if they have, you can, there is always a way that you can justify it and you can do it and thats why.. I'll have a word with John because Johns the agent but then Catherines the publicist who (sound cut)"

donnie · 19/01/2007 14:09

'gay boy'? FFS!

I expect all he sees is a gigantic pair of inflated tits.I mean he can't love her for her character or intellect now, can he? bound to be dumping her now though.
