UCM - don't think I would actually! If I was Shilpa, I wouldn't want to lose the money just because someone was being abusive to me.

what i actually wrote was "i hardly need add that shilpa would definitely have wanted to join the show to raise her profile, just as every single other person in there did, but to suggest that because she agreed to go on the show she forfeits all human rights (as i believe i have seen people imply on these threads) is ridiculous and offensive.

i didn't say you'd said it, i said that i'd some people on this thread imply it. loads of people here and on the other threads have said things along the lines of 'she's getting paid... etc etc' and it's a point i think is ludicrous.

however, having read what i wrote i can see that i was not wholly explicit that i wasn't talking to you directly on that point, so i wholeheartedly apologise if that was the impression that i gave.

I utterly agree UCM, the whole farce of a show should just be pulled.

I'm wondering why Shilpa's putting up with this, or why indeed she figured she'd join the show in the first place.

I'm thinking it's probably a matter of principle for her at this point not to be seen to be backing down in the face of the bullies.

It's always been like that in this country.

Bullying is bullying. I don't think you should narrow it down to racism. Was Jade being racist when she asked if us Northerners used different currency? No.

They are thick bullies. I hope they lose their careers. I hope realism TV dies a death. But above all I do hope common sense prevails!

Ok Custardo, if Shilpa wasn't in the contest but there was an Asian contestant who was slaggy, dim, nasty and not so attractive, I think she could also have been bessie mates with Majory Dawes and her sidekicks. It's not her race that Jade objects to per se, she hates her for other reasons so makes racist comments, just as if there was a contestant who was posh and refined and clever and had red hair or a flat chest or anything really, she'd go for that.
That does NOT excuse racist comments, of course.

It's almost saying that this behaviour is acceptable by keeping it on.

My stepdaughter is watching this. She's 15. She is as appalled by Jade as anyone. In many ways I think it is a good thing that people can see this, and see how ugly it is. After all, it is very common behaviour which usually goes unremarked upon.

Cleo is much older. She's no threat. Jade et al just won't see her as a rival at all, due to her great age (ie about my age!). Also Shilpa is more assertive and clearly not intimidated by Jade, whereas Cleo is.

I don't think she's doing it for the money (her daddy's rich).

And after Dhadkan, her star kind of catapulted.

I assume she wants to increase her exposure in the West, maybe get a few movies done here to al la Aishwariya.....???

i think that probably most of us will continue to watch it on the tele only because we now want to see the ghastly three and the lapdog get their come uppance.

They are saying that Shilpa doesn't feel her treatment is racially motivated but no-one has mentioned the fact that Shilpa has not been party to all the comments.

They have just confirmed that Jack used the 'c' word in relation to Shilpa

Cleo is not so DIFFERENT i reckon is rweason, jade is prejudice, ignorant etc
