I have not seen BB but I saw a footage on C4 news and my initial instinct was that the the 3 nobodies picking on the Indian woman were just plain ignorant, especially when one of them said something about Indian people eating with their fingers. I said to DH that she obviously has never eaten sandwiches, McDonalds, KFC, Fish and Chips, etc.

With any luck, after this debacle, the nobodies will sink back to obscurity where they belong.

Why anybody would want to tarnish themselves by going on this squalid programme is beyond me. Hopefully this sorry episode will be the beginning of the end for this brain rot garbage.

beansprout · 17/01/2007 08:33

Why does it have to be one or the other? It's both.

I agree with Fio. The problem is at the moment Jade is very much not a nobody, she is on the front of most mags like Heat, Now etc etc all the time. I think after ths she may regret going on CBB as she was seen very much as a people's person but now she'll be seen as a horrid bully. I don't undersatnd why she went on the programme - she's reportedly worth 8 million since she went on BB before so why does she need more money and publicity?

As a black person, the tiny glimpse that I saw of the 3 harpies on C4 news reinforced my view of the ignorant xenophobes in this country who know nothing about other cultures and who denigrate their own culture. They are a complete and utter disgrace and it bothers me that young, impressionable people watching this will be influenced in the wrong way.

My friend is a primary school teacher in Hampshire and she says that the aspirations of her class often involve being a celebrity, eg celebrity hairdresser. Heaven help us.

persephonesnape · 17/01/2007 08:59

Jades been dropped by the anti bullying harity that she's a spokesperson for.

it's disgusting, really. I have no doubt that it is racism, fuelled by ignorance, but ignorance is absolutely no excuse, it's giving the perpetrators a free pass. Shilpa is a beautiful, and apparently intelligent an cultured individual. the B listers don't liek that, they're jealous and the easiest thing to pick on for them is race, because they don't know how to challenge her on her own terms.

poor shilpa. i stopped watching a few nighst ago - I can't devote my precious time to such utter hell. channel four will be over the moon though, becaus epeople will tune in to see it now. ugh!

expatinscotland · 17/01/2007 09:01

Both.

As well as a sad and shocking example of behaviour that is rewarded in this society by fame and riches.

I hope this is the end of Jade's 'fame' and 'celebrity'.

I always thought she was a low life scumbag.

SamanthaSnurkington · 17/01/2007 09:02

It's racism, bullying and bitchiness all rolled into one, and delivered by three extremely unpleasant characters.
I think Shilpa's dignity throughout all this has been superb.

Freckle · 17/01/2007 09:05

It really is car-crash tv, isn't it? I don't watch CBB, but have seen the footage on the news programmes. The 3 harpies are merely flagging up their own insecurities and ignorance. Shilpa is beautiful and so dignified in all this.

I remember when Jade was in BB - again I didn't watch it but caught news footage and newspaper reports. There was concern about her mental health when she came out as it would come as a shock to her how the British public vilified her for being a thick tw*t then. She has merely reinforced that impression. Half of what she said isn't even intelligible. All you get is an impression of nastiness and bullying.

Who the is Danielle Lloyd anyway? She just sounds totally thick. Jo, I'm surprised at as she's always come across as reasonably nice in the past.

And I'm disgusted with the men who have done absolutely nothing to stop this witch-hunt. Not to mention any of the other women.

expatinscotland · 17/01/2007 09:08

'Who the ** is Danielle Lloyd anyway? '

She's one of those people who makes a living by posing naked and then calls herself a 'model'.

Never understood that British construct 'glamour model'.

Erm, let's call a spade a spade here.

She's a stripper.

Mog · 17/01/2007 09:11

Are these girls typical of some twenty somethings? I am genuinely surprised that people like this exist.
there have been 10000 complaints. Hope the harpees get totally booed as they come out.

southeastastra · 17/01/2007 09:15

because they're all stuffed together and can't escape i'm not really suprised this has happened. i've met plenty of girls like that.

expatinscotland · 17/01/2007 09:15

I don't think so, Mog.

I know plenty of 20-somethings, work w/them in fact, who would never dream of behaving like that.

If anything, they'd want to get to know someone like Shilpa better, b/c she's proof you can have a brilliant career w/o having to be a drunken, loutish, naked hooch.

And look at Jade's mum, she's no 20-something and she's still a sad, ignorant, loser.

SoupDragon · 17/01/2007 09:27

I've not seen or read anything about htis really, other than on MN. One thing that I was wondering is whether it is genuine racism or "just" bullying. What I mean is that bullying generally picks on someone's differences - is that what they're doing rather than genuinely having a dislike of her race? Not that it makes a huge amount of difference really but is it "simply" the same as picking on someone because they're overweight or is it backed by genuine hatred. I think the 2 are different although equally abhorrant.

Jessajam · 17/01/2007 09:47

I HATE BB anyway so am a bit biased but....

I am a 20 something ( just about!) and I would NEVER have behaved like that. So it's not an age thing.

From what I'v eseen on the news etc it seems to me that Shilpa is an attractive, successful and intelligent woman (WTF is she doing on BB??) and the bunch of slappers are jealous/uncomfortable/threatened by her.

Their reaction has been SO childish, could be a bunch of school girls picking on a classmate. They are picking up on insignificant actions of her's and turning them into reasons to bitch about her ( something to do with putting make up on in private but happy to wander around with a face mask on? So what?!)

The 'racist' comments appear more to do with an amazing ignorance ("is it china or india whee they eat with their hands..." eh?)coupled with this nit-picking bitchiness.

They need a slap!

Lizzylou · 17/01/2007 10:04

I agree with Soupdragon on this...I don't think this is fuelled out of rascism, it is simply playground bitchiness borne out of jealousy and ignorance.
You know how the pretty girl at school was always a target for some girls? These three are unintelligent, uncultured and uncouth showing themselves up for what they are. This is a by-product of our celebrity culture, we have people like this as "role models" who young people aspire to be, famous for the sake of it with absolutely no substance

mysonsmummy · 17/01/2007 10:12

previously on BB people have been picked on - i cant remember any names (sure someone else can) but some horrible events like this have occurred in there. the fact that the people involved were of the same colour it wasn't called racism. IMO

also, i am sure some people are now complaining because of the the hype about it.

please dont take me wrong way i havent really watched it cant comment on whats happening in the house at the moment.

Caligula · 17/01/2007 10:17

I don't think the initial motivation is racist. The motivation is the knowledge the three witches have that they are utterly inferior to Shilpa. She's more intelligent, more beautiful, more educated and more of a real genuine star than any of them, so it comes to down to schoolgirl jealousy; but the way their hostility to her is expressed is racist IYSWIM, because they are all astonishingly ignorant and have that sort of unthinking casual racism as opposed to BNP-type stuff.

It's all three. And it is repellent.

Vindaloo · 17/01/2007 10:24

From what little I have seen it looks like bullying and bitchiness - lets face it the other girls are probably really jealous of Shipla.

Jade has just committed tv suidicide for herself, she probably thought she would increase her 'popularity' by going on bb. What a shock she will have when shes out.

Enid · 17/01/2007 10:24

ha ha

Hattiecat · 17/01/2007 10:25

Agree with LucyJones - its playground horridness blown up - 3 nasty women unable to control their mouths, they are behaving worse than children on a playground imo. not sure that its deliberate racism though, think they just don't like/feel threatened by shilpa's beauty, intelligence and dignity - i think they would be behaving the same if she was same skin colour and culture as them.

Enid · 17/01/2007 10:26

more class bullying than racial imo

those three pikeys v one very well educated but alone woman

Vindaloo · 17/01/2007 10:27

I cant wait for the 3 witches of eastwick to be evicted - I wonder if Davina will have the balls to delve into the racist/bullying behavior when interviewing them?
