From now on the race becomes winner take all. If Trump wins Florida on March 15, it is probably all over.

I was always under the impression that Trump privately supports abortion.

I don't think he gives a shit about women's reproductive rights.

var123 · 03/03/2016 16:58

Trump has (finally) distanced himself from the Ku Klux Klan.

claig · 03/03/2016 16:59

Mitt Romney just gave his speech which attacked Trump and told Republican voters to basically vote for anyone but Trump. That is all anyone needs to know about why it is important to vote for Trump. They fear him, the Establishment are petrified, not just in America but all over the world. He will wreck their schemes, he will jail the crooks and swindlers, he will work for the people against the Establishment. They are desperate to stop him.

We will have to see if the American people follow the Establishment's advice or if they now go all in for Trump to take the crooked down.

The final debate is tonight and the Esatblishment's stooges will throw everything they have left at Trump. If Trump emerges still standing, then their demise draws ever nearer.

It just gets weirder, I only saw this yesterday

"Marco Rubio 'helped cocaine dealer brother-in-law get an estate agent's licence'

The leading Republican candidate's brother-in-law was convicted of selling $15 million worth of drugs in the 1980s"

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/12077899/Marco-Rubio-helped-cocaine-dealer-brother-in-law-get-an-estate-agents-licence.html

According to Judge Napolitano on Fox, an FBI indictment against Hillary is not yet ruled out and could possibly come in May. However, the Justice Dept may then not act on it.

Surely it's a good thing that he helped the rehabilitation of a criminal. Grin

"attacked Trump and told Republican voters to basically vote for anyone but Trump. That is all anyone needs to know about why it is important to vote for Trump."

Quite the opposite. It shows that even Republicans realise that a Trump presidency would be disaster for the US as well as the rest of the world.

I'm not worrying, though. It won't happen. Not least because nobody you went this agog about ever won an election Smile

CoteDAzur · 03/03/2016 19:40

" He said the first money he gets hes going to build a wall around Mexico not schools or hospitals, a wall."

Worse, he said he will make Mexico pay for that wall.

Mexico's answer has been the verbal equivalent of the middle finger.

BigChocFrenzy · 03/03/2016 21:17

Pitiless I was just trying to console you that the US survived 2 terms of Dubya, so you can probably survive any idiot. He left an incredible collection of public brain farts for posterity.
Your country has massive natural & human resources, plus more checks & balances than say the UK - a PM here with a decent majority in Parliament can pass a load of nasty / stupid laws, whereas a President with a hostile Congress has far more limited powers to change things.

If worst comes to the worst in November, you could post on Mumsnet asking if anyone has a spare room for a Quiet American. Can you play Scrabble ?

CoteDAzur · 03/03/2016 21:21

"If worst comes to the worst in November, you could post on Mumsnet asking if anyone has a spare room for a Quiet American"

Funny you should say that. Apparently, Google searches for "How to move to Canada" spiked to an all-time high in the US following Super Tuesday results Grin

Fascinating article in the Guardian where they interviewed a number of left wing progressives who are voting for Trump. All the usual reasons come up - political correctness, oligarchy, bought and paid for etc

The Hispanic attorney (29, Florida)
Political correctness is the birthplace of disastrous, un-American policies that will destroy the country in a death by a thousand cuts. But here comes Trump, the first person who didn’t even blink when the machine turns its sights on him.

He didn’t just fight back. He chewed it up and spit it out.

The casino supervisor (56, Oklahoma)
‘We are completely tired of government’

I am a Democrat but will vote for Trump, because he is not bought and paid for by anyone. We the American people are tired of politicians owing favors to rich businessmen, bankers, oil companies and stock markets. It should be against the law to have lobbyists involved with government.

The middle class and lower class – which I am part of – are completely tired of our government

The yoga teacher (29, Tennessee)

‘Don’t publish my name. It would ruin my progressive image’

In a match between Bernie and Donald, I’d vote for the former. In a match between Hillary and Donald, I’d vote for the latter. It isn’t a vote for Trump, but rather a vote against the political establishment (which must be removed from office at any cost – even if it means electing a reality TV star for president). The stakes are too high. Hillary cannot win or the oligarchy will continue unabated.

The retired biomedical engineer (56, Hawaii)

‘It’s too late for a cure’

I believe that Clinton will continue the Wall Street-style march to oligarchy. With her, the eventual demise of democracy will lead to a fascist plutocracy. It is going on right now, and it will continue to be slow, painful and inevitable.

The gay Arab Muslim student (20, Missouri)

‘My parents are horrified’

Trump will break the poisonous bonds that hold America and the cult state of Saudi Arabia. Clinton would never do that; she would continue supporting Saudi Arabia while bombing Islamic countries left and right.

He isn’t our enemy, he is the enemy of the globalist Wahhabi cult that has propagated mass violence and murder through out the world.

This is so ironic

We the American people are tired of politicians owing favors to rich businessmen, bankers, oil companies and stock markets

Trump is those people. He has the same interests. Except that his ego decided he wanted to run for President.

CoteDAzur · 03/03/2016 21:35

Yes. In the eternal words of Lazarus Long, "Never underestimate the power of human stupidity".

BigChoc:

"If worst comes to the worst in November, you could post on Mumsnet asking if anyone has a spare room for a Quiet American. Can you play Scrabble ?"

I do play Scrabble, a bit poorly, but I am not very quiet, unfortunately. Perhaps in return for hosting me I can provide a service wherein I go around and help Mumsnetters who have a bit too much British reserve tell off the people in their lives who need telling off.

Lweji · 03/03/2016 23:02

Maybe the American people then could go and build a wall around the White House.
With enough people, I bet it could be built quickly before the secret service realised and joined in.

claig · 03/03/2016 23:36

Diamond and Silk (the Stump for Trump sisters) have fired straight back at Mitt Romney after his speech today where the Establishment pushed him on stage to try to tell the Republican voters to vote for anybody but Trump.

They are not happy with Mitt Romney at all. They give him a piece of their mind.

"When you come for Donald J Trump, Diamond and Silk will be coming for you!"

OP posts:
Lweji · 03/03/2016 23:39

Oh, yeah.
Extra points for getting the Bluntscissor Sisters inside the wall.
And Sarah Palin.

BigChocFrenzy · 03/03/2016 23:40

I would expect that if Trump became the Republican nominee, that his qualifications for high office would finally come under proper scrutiny.
At the latest, during the Presidential debates with Hillary.

I'm thinking of the old adage:
"The higher a monkey climbs, the more you see of its behind"

BigChocFrenzy · 03/03/2016 23:42

Naturally reminds me also of H. L. Mencken's comment:
"Democracy is the art and science of running the circus from the monkey cage"

Want2bSupermum · 04/03/2016 13:48

I was talking last night to a friend who is working on a campaign (not trumps) and she said that the real reason the republicans want trump gone ASAP is that he isn't taking donations and it's killing the party financially. She said that when a candidate fundraises some of the money goes to the party but with Donald trump self financing nothing has been collected.

Btw I think Trump is a better candidate than Rubio or Cruz. I really like Kasich but I think its too late for him. Sadly it looks like HC is going to wrap up her nomination soon. I really want sanders!

claig · 04/03/2016 14:36

Trump came out on top last night, he beat the Establishment, they failed to bring him down. As he said afterwards, it was easier than he thought it was going to be. It was the first time I have seen him tired at the end, but he still won. The stress on him must be enormous, it is the entire world system vs Trump.

Former Republican Presidential candidate, Herman Cain, and former Arizona Governor, Jan Brewer, said it was disgusting what the Establishment was doing in going against Trump and ignoring the people and that they had never seen anything like it.

Roger Stone said the Establishment will try every trick they have got (and Trump's team is sending out people to check the voting etc) in order to stop Trump because they are petrified and for them it is now "rule or ruin".

However, there are already splits in the Republican Party where the non-oligarchic elements are beginning to back Trump and say we must listen to the people.

The whole world's elite is shellshocked, they are going to get such a lesson, one they never dreamed they would ever receive, all their schemes and plans will be ripped to shreds. Trump will tear up their globalist trade plans - TTIP, TPP, he will rip up their global warming agreements, he will expose all the crooks and thieves who sold America and the American people out to the global elite.

All of the world's top financial newspapers, all of the out-of-toch smug elites, all of the wonks and whizzkids who work against the interests of the people are at a loss about what to do about Trump and the fantastic American people who have ignored the media barrage against him

'The "trust gap" between a global elite and the rest of the population could explain the popularity of Donald Trump...'

"Global Elite Fear Donald Trump Presidency

This week some two thousand of the world’s most notable economic, political, and media leaders are meeting within the sprawling winter resort sanctuary of Davos, Switzerland. The primary topic on the mouths of those who are attending isn’t Middle East unrest, China’s fiscal challenges, falling oil prices, or even a plummeting U.S. stock market, but rather one Donald J. Trump.

These men and women whose far-reaching influence and wealth depends so much upon a world that runs at their discretion, see Donald Trump as the greatest potential disruption to the current global dynamic they have worked so diligently to maintain.

And they don’t like it – not one bit."

dcwhispers.com/global-elite-fear-donald-trump-presidency/

Even the man known as "Mr Moderniser", described as being "Cameron's brain", Steve Hilton, understands what is happening. It looks like he is with us, with the people.

"what is going on here is actually pretty profound, we live in a world that is run by bankers, bureaucrats ... who champion globalisation ... people are sick of it, sick of being told to suck it up"

If Trump wins, the future will be unlike anything the global elite dreamed it would be, it will be a future for the people and the end of rule by this unaccountable, bureaucratic, wonkish elite.

But he is taking donations. At least his site has "donate" buttons on it Grin

Plus as was explained upthread, he has actually loaned his own campaign his money. So presumably eh expects to recoup it at some point. So not really self funded or only in a smart ass clever dick kinda way .

The republican race has totally degenerated into farce at this stage. It's like watching something from the National Lampoon...

Lweji · 04/03/2016 17:20

I wonder if his campaign is just another smart ass way of making money.

Want2bSupermum · 04/03/2016 17:32

It's very common to loan the money to the campaign and then write the loan off as a bad debt. There are strict rules about funding a political campaign and one of the easiest ways to circumvent a lot of the paperwork is to do a loan. It's what the democrats do too.

Lweji · 04/03/2016 17:39

Ah. It remains to be seen if he does get it back or not.
