It confused me too, it seems to be a sort of failed logic. Maybe claig didn't mean to write that or his words just got jumbled?

claig · 29/02/2016 11:50

'How is he saying he abhors KKK and wants nothing to do with them or their ideology make voters think he is connected in any way with them?'

Why do you think the media sprung that question on him in the midst of a CNN interview? We are 48 hours before Soper Tuesday. David Duke and the KKK are insignificant in terms of votes, they are meaningless. The media wanted him to say that he doesn't want their votes. Trump doesn't need their votes. By getting to say "I don't want your votes" it would look like the media had forced Trump to turn down votes and the public would think that Trump was depending on those votes and that the media had unearthed a great scoop and Trump was forced onto the defensive. Trump is not on the defensive, he is thrashing the Establishment candidates, his rallies are packed out and his poll numbers are through the roof. So the only thing the Establishment and media have got left is to call him racist and tied to the mob. That is why during voting in Nevada, the media focused on two people in the voting line with KKK hoods on with Trump banners. It is a trick, the Establishment use plants to try and create the impression that Trump is connected with the KKK.

Trump refuses to play along with their game and skips their tricks by saying show me what you are talking about and I can reply and of course they can't show him on the spot and therefore they are on the defensive and he isn't.

claig · 29/02/2016 11:59

This is going to be the dirtiest election ever and all sorts of tricks will be played by the media to try and stop Trump and of course Trump will hit back in ways we have never ever seen by unloading on Hillary Clinto in a way that will shock the world.

It hasn't even started yet, it will get very, very dirty because power is being transferred from the current group to Trump.

Lweji · 29/02/2016 12:09

Actually, to me it looks like he thinks he needs those votes.

claig · 29/02/2016 12:09

You can see how the whole KKK thing is a coordinated attack on Trump, because just a few days ago before this latest media interview on the KKK, there was a protestor at a Trump rally with a shirt saying "KKK endorses Trump". These peope are plants to feed the story that Trump is somehow associated with the KKK just days before the most important day in the electoral cycle.

"Watch Donald Trump Stare Down a Protester Wearing a “KKK Endorses Trump” Shirt"

www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2016/02/27/watch_trump_stare_down_a_protester_wearing_a_kkk_endorses_trump_shirt.html

The more it looks like Trump is winning, the more tricks we will see.

It's politics, it's power and that is why it is brutal.

Lweji · 29/02/2016 12:11

You are aware, btw, that you have recognised that Trump has been the one playing all sorts of tricks and media manipulation, as well as truth manipulation, simply to get elected?
He set the tone.

Not that any US election has been squeaky clean and friendly. But he certainly started the dirty play.

claig · 29/02/2016 12:12

'Actually, to me it looks like he thinks he needs those votes.'

Yes, that is what they want people to think. Trump is in a no-win either way because they have associated Trump with the KKK. He did not want to appear defensive by following what the media interviewer wanted him to say. We will have to see if that was the right strategy. We will find out in just over 24 hours when the results of Super Tuesday are read out.

claig · 29/02/2016 12:17

'You are aware, btw, that you have recognised that Trump has been the one playing all sorts of tricks and media manipulation, as well as truth manipulation, simply to get elected?'

Yes, of course he has. He is up against the entire Establishment, Vicente Fox, the Pope, Davos etc He has to win the election because it is critical for America so he will use tricks and they will use tricks. Wait until Trump starts on Hillary, be under ni illusion Trump will do everythng he can to win. He is trying to outsmart the media, such as revealing major endorsements such as Christ Christie, the day after the media wanted to run the story of how their Establishment candidate, Rubio, had smashed him in the previous night's debates.

Trump has so far outsmarted the media which is why he has survived their attacks and is far ahead in the polls. But they will come back at him and have a whole load of tricks up their sleeve. Whether he is smart enough to fend them off, we will have to wait and see.

It will be mob accusations next. Trump knows what they will hit him with, they don't know how he will hit back.

claig · 29/02/2016 12:21

'But he certainly started the dirty play.'

He is a self-funding outsider candidate with the entire world's political class and media against him. He has to play dirty because they are experts at dirty tricks.

He is up for the fight, he refuses to back down, he refuses to do what the media interviewers want him to do, he calls George W Bush a liar in South Carolina which is "Bush country", and he still beats them. It is going to be a grueling six or so months, they will hit him with everything they have. If he ends up beating them, it will be historic, but they have more power and money than him, so the odds are still stacked against him.

claig · 29/02/2016 12:25

My guess is that Trump will outsmart the media yet again by refusing to turn up for the next Fox debate on Thursday. I don't think he will walk into a trap which will give his Establishment opponents airtime to hit him as a racist, mob connected conman which is their only line of attack left.

claig · 29/02/2016 12:53

Douglas Schoen is a brilliant analyst, he is a Democrat who used to work for Bill Clinton on election campaigns etc. He really knows his stuff. He says that Trump is still beating them for now.

"Big debate? Nah… It’s still a Trump world and the other candidates are just living in it
...
That said, it’s my belief that while Rubio took advantage of his last chance to attack Trump before Super Tuesday – and that he did it very well – it won’t be enough to change the alignment of the candidates. Trump had a decent night. It wasn’t his best performance, but what’s growing increasingly clear is that it doesn’t really matter.

More so than with any other candidate, Trump’s voters make up their minds early. They are committed to him and after big wins in New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada, Trump has shown that his base will turn out to vote for him even though they’re largely from groups that don’t typically vote in primaries (lower income, high school educated). And with leads in every Super Tuesday state except for Texas where Cruz is slightly ahead, there’s no reason to think that Thursday night’s debate changes the trajectory.
...
All this is to say that it’s a Trump world and the rest of the candidates are just living in it. We better get used to it."

Lweji · 29/02/2016 13:17

He has to play dirty because they are experts at dirty tricks.

He doesn't have to play dirty at all. He has chosen to.

claig · 29/02/2016 13:26

'He doesn't have to play dirty at all. He has chosen to.'

Lweij, Trump is a world class businessman billionaire, he knows how the world really works, he understands what the powerful really do. He knows all about the dirty tricks that will be used against him by some very powerful people. This is a battle to become President of the United States, the most important job in the world. It wil be a brutal battle with tons of dirty tricks involved because there is nothing as imortant in terms of power.

If you think that the Conservative Party overspending the legally allowed limits and not declaring their full expenses as they desperately tried to win the by-elections against UKIP are dirty tricks, you haven't seen nothing of what type of tricks will be played in the US elections.

It's not Oxbridge, it's Wall Street in the most important country on the planet.

Lweji · 29/02/2016 13:28

The thing is he has chosen to play in the same way as every other politician. Which makes him just the same as any of them.
And can't really complain when they throw tricks at him either. Because he is just the same as any other politician.

claig · 29/02/2016 13:31

According to insider reports, Trump had inside information on a weekend meeting of billionaires and millionaires who have gone all-in for Rubio. Trump probably has inside information on Fox. He probably has friends and associates in the opposing camp and knows what they are planning against him.

It's the race for President of the United States. It's Trump 2016!

claig · 29/02/2016 13:38

'The thing is he has chosen to play in the same way as every other politician. Which makes him just the same as any of them. '

Lweij, that is how the world really works. If you want to be a saint, you will be martyred. Trump intends to save America, he intends to win and he will play as dirty as they will. Just follow his twitter account to see how he attacks everyone and everything, he is not afraid of the Bushes or the Clintons or Vicente Fox or the Koch brothers or the New York Times or Murdoch or anyone else.

'And can't really complain when they throw tricks at him either.'

He doesn't complain. They complain when he outwits them and is not forced on the defensive by their tricks.

'Because he is just the same as any other politician.'

He plays the game the same as any of the other politicians, but his policies and what he will do when he wins power are not the same which is why the Republican voters have backed him to be the Republican candidate and why the Establishment want to stop him.

Remember what political analyst, Monica Crowley, said

"they hate Ted Cruz for all the reasons that Rich laid out, but they fear Donald Trump. And they want neither one to win the nomination because the truth is, the establishment cannot control them. If Donald Trump wins the presidency or Ted Cruz wins the presidency, the establishment is done. It’s over."

claig · 29/02/2016 14:26

We are just one day away from Super Tuesday. The establishment have brought out their big guns and have hit Trump with a low blow.

It is getting critcal. There is only one thing for it. This calls for the Stump for Trump sisters to set things right! It is time for the Stump for Trump sisters to get into the act. They deserve top government jobs for what they have done for the American people. They are already on twitter giving the Establishment hell.

"Diamond and Silk
‏@DiamondandSilk

.@realDonaldTrump Clearly said he disavow the KKK. Rubio Ears are big enough 2 have heard it, but he prefers 2 use a hit piece to tell lies

These Career Politicians are getting Desperate, they will do anything to smear @realDonaldTrump because they fear him #AlwaysTrump

Diamond and Silk ‏@DiamondandSilk · 16 hrs16 hours ago

Silent Majority, Don't get distracted. Some are having their Moment Performing for their Puppet Masters but we are Rolling with #AlwaysTrump

Wiser words have not been spoken.

claig · 29/02/2016 15:03

For Diamond and Silk fans (Stump for Trump sisters) here is their latest interview on CNN itself just a few days ago

It is entitled (in true Stump for Trump sisters style)

"Diamond and Silk spoils CNN Carol Costello plans to pull a fast one"

var123 · 29/02/2016 15:35

That's the big guns? Confused

var123 · 29/02/2016 15:35

Underwhelming is the only word I can think of.

var123 · 29/02/2016 15:48

When i read that Trump was pulling out the big guns, i thought it meant some heavy duty advertising expenditure, possibly including endorsements by people whose opinion is of interest to others (e.g. movie stars or famous authors). I wasn't expecting a couple of disciples who just rant over each other a bit.

claig · 29/02/2016 15:53

var123, there is no one like the Stump for Trump sisters. They rock! They are Trump fans' favourites and Trump's wife told him about how great they are and they were then invited on Trump rallies. Expect to see much more of them as the election hots up!

Trump has now increased his poll lead in the latest CNN poll and is at 49% of Republican voters nationwide. Amazing!

Here is a funny New Yorker article on a comic hypothetical scenario where Obama endorses Trump before Super Tuesday and Trump's polls collapse with Trump fans saying they have been conned.

Lweji · 29/02/2016 16:07

For Diamond and Silk fans (Stump for Trump sisters)

Not sure who you are addressing...

Any fans out there, please stand up.

claig · 29/02/2016 16:15

Lweji, I thought you were a fan.

Lweji · 29/02/2016 16:20

Because...?

Was the way I keep referring to them as the whatever sisters a clue? Grin

I think I've clicked in one of those videos once for about 10 sec.
