Warning: it's a distressing read.

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/12149716/Milly-Dowlers-family-Now-we-know-the-final-hours-of-Millys-life.html

Her poor family, being manipulated and made to suffer yet again by this monster. And he insisted on giving his "confession" to female officers, no doubt because he got a kick out of it.

And the list of unsolved murders and attacks that he's under suspicion for is truly chilling.

Prison is too good for him.

I fail to see why this information has been shared outside of the police & the family.

How is it in the public interest?

VagueIdeas · 10/02/2016 18:08

Yes, the parents chose to release the information both so the public know what Bellfield did to Milly, and also publicise the fact they had to keep silent for eight months while his claim of having an accomplice was investigated (and eventually dismissed). Their years of torment are just unimaginable.

I cried when I read this. My dd is just a year older than Milly was and I just keep thinking how terrified she must have been. Her poor parents having to cope with this, I don't know how they do.

I don't think he will ever be allowed out of prison. He's up there with Ian Brady in the sicko league as far as I'm concerned.

Wardrobespierre · 10/02/2016 18:09

Her family must be utterly crushed by that level of detail.

I will never condone the death penalty's reintroduction but I can see why this case provokes such a visceral reaction. It's abhorrent.

MissyMaker · 10/02/2016 18:09

My heart goes out to the Dowlers - their lives were ripped apart when this monster took Milly. Their 13 year old daughter was brutally murdered and they have been treated shamefully ever since - by the police, by the press, by Bellfield's defence lawyers. They have continued to show remarkable grace in such adversity. It's unbearable to think about it; to live it must be so, so hard.

NellysKnickers · 10/02/2016 18:10

Utter fucking cunt. Hope he rots in hell. That poor child, it sickened me reading this today, my heart goes out to her family.

expatinscotland · 10/02/2016 18:13

Fucking scumbag.

Helmetbymidnight · 10/02/2016 18:13

The family have been through so much.

There was a beautiful photo of milly with her mother shortly before she was murdered.
How all their lives have been shattered since then.

Stradbroke · 10/02/2016 18:16

It was awful to read this today and has been on my mind since. Her poor parents, sister and wider family. And poor, poor Milly. She must have been so scared.

I shan't be reading the details and I'm surprised that so many of you appear to have done so. That's exactly what he wants - people to be horrified by the salacious details, and to add to his notoriety. Don't read it shutupandshop - there is absolutely nothing to be gained, unfortunately.

Helmetbymidnight · 10/02/2016 18:21

I haven't read it.

However, I understand the urge sometimes to bare witness to awfulness.

VimFuego101 · 10/02/2016 18:25

He's an utter bastard. Apparently he claimed compensation for an assault against him while he was in prison by another inmate.

clam · 10/02/2016 18:25

I can usually block off connecting with horrific cases like this. However, when I stupidly clicked on a link to this report, I felt as if I'd been punched in the solar plexus. I then looked across at dd, also a teenager, who was giggling at something on her phone, and I was reduced to tears.

Horrific man. I'm ashamed to admit that I found myself wondering if castration might be an option in this country.

DickDewy · 10/02/2016 18:26

Why was this information released to the press? I fail to see why.

As bibbity says, there is nothing to be gained from it.

The family released the info as he blabbed bragged to another inmate who was due for release.

He should be locked in solitary (with some fucking big hungry dogs).

Odd how Islam has the kind of justice that is reparatory (is that the right word?) - 'an eye for an eye'.

How does he square that with his filthy conscience (not that he probably has one)

ThatsNotMyRabbit · 10/02/2016 18:33

As a rule I'm firmly anti- death penalty but I do struggle in cases like this.

If prison spaces were infinite fine - lock em up and keep them away from human beings.

But space isn't infinite and keeping scum like this alive means other scum walk free. I dunno.

VagueIdeas · 10/02/2016 18:34

I'll say it again: THE FAMILY RELEASED THE INFORMATION.

Their statement concludes:

"Now we know the final hours of Milly's life, perhaps her soul, at long last, can finally rest in peace. The general public have always played a huge part in supporting us, for which we are eternally grateful and thankful. We believe that they should know what Bellfield did to our beautiful daughter and sister Milly."

Chilling.

Poor Milly and her family...and all of his other victims for that matter.

It's hard to believe that a thing like him exists in this world - I wish he didn't.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 10/02/2016 18:38

Yes, the family released the information. I think I can just about understand why they wanted to do that, but I think its misguided. Perhaps they wanted to share the burden, but it's a very big ask of the average person.

Wardrobespierre · 10/02/2016 18:38

I think everybody knows the family released the info. No need to shout. Smile I think it's normal for people to wonder why.

SouthWestmom · 10/02/2016 18:39

Reading it, it just makes you wish someone had walked past, or heard something unusual.
There was another case years ago where neighbours heard screaming in the night but didn't check and it was a girl being murdered.
It's that kind of news item that makes me a nosy interfering cow.

Sidge · 10/02/2016 18:40

My heart aches for her family. Bellfield is just an evil man, rotten to the core. I've got the news on TV here and they summarised the details the family have shared - it's not gory or salacious but it's heartbreaking to think how scared and hurt she would have been.

I also feel for his other victims, and those that were attacked but didn't die. As with the families of the deceased they have to live with what they went through every day and seeing his face over the media must be agony.

RIP Milly.

VagueIdeas · 10/02/2016 18:45

People WERE asking why the information was released, Wardrobe, even after I said it was the Dowlers (the first time that is). Then someone said it was "salacious" and no one should ever read it. I just felt it was important to emphasise - yet again - that it was the wishes of the family. I felt the statement was quite touching and eloquent. And yes, why not share the burden? Public support must have been an incredible comfort to them in the past, especially when they have so many grievances - with the police, News International, you name it.
