The white van has been transformed to a Harrods van and the England flag is now a Hammer and Sickle so Mrs Hyacinth Bouquet, Labour MP feels more at home

The thing is if it was in Eds road it would be regarded as nationalist but if it's far enough away it's seen as working class roots. UK is just full of double standards. Like xmas tree light man in my road all the middle classes were up in arms yet happy to drive a mile up the road to th big housing estate to show their kids the decorated houses there! This is just such a ridiculous news story

claig · 21/11/2014 09:48

'This is just such a ridiculous news story'

Absolutely, and yet out of such a little thing, so much is revealed. I feel sorry for her being surrounded by the press now. But Labour's reaction to such a little thing reveals a real divide between them and the people which is why the Labour command is terrified.

There is just so much image management and fake anger "angrier than he has ever been" and so little honesty and respect for the people from all sides in politics.

WetAugust · 21/11/2014 10:05

I would hope that Ed was even angrier when he heard about the Labour involvement in the child abuse scandals. that's a bit more important than a Labour Human Rights barrister MO having a giggle at White Van Man -although that does expose her thoughts about the electorate.

Badvoc. you posted rubbish First you told us UKIP was going to privatise the NHS. WRONG And if you watched the news in the last few days you would hear Farage deny that time and time again. It's the Labour peers that want to charge you to see your GP or to spend a night in hospital. but then you go on to say that Ukip has no policies. WRIONG .

Are you a cushion? Do you bear the impression of the last person who sat on you. cos you are not a free thinker

'I would hope that Ed was even angrier when he heard about the Labour involvement in the child abuse scandals. '

Wow, WetAugust, that is the best point I have ever seen.

If "has has never been angrier" about this little thing, then what does it say about his priorities? Your point above could finish Miliband off.

His spinners have made a huge mistake by taking the public for fools.

claig · 21/11/2014 10:23

Amazing, Labour are imploding over this and it is all because of spin.

"Emily Thornberry appears defiant after being sacked by Ed Miliband

Emily Thornberry, shadow attorney general sacked after Twitter storm, favourites tweets hailing her as 'woman of integrity' and criticising Ed Miliband despite admitting in first public appearance that she 'got it wrong'
...
Emily Thornberry, the Labour front-bencher sacked by Ed Miliband over accusations of snobbery, has "favourited" a series of Tweets suggesting she "did nothing wrong" and it was "ridiculous" that she had to quit."

claig · 21/11/2014 10:26

Labour need to put Simon Danczuk or John Mann in charge. People think they have integrity and understand ordinary people.

Badvocinapeartree · 21/11/2014 11:01

It's pains me to say this but Ed has to go :(
I think Emily Thornberry made a gaffe, but a sacking offence?
Hardly.
Sadly people like the BNP and EDF have made "flying the flag" a political issue.
I live in a well to do part of my town, and there are several large houses near me that fly a flag.

Badvocinapeartree · 21/11/2014 11:03

NF was filmed saying the NHS needed to be privatised last year.
It's on film.
He said it.
He is back tracking now because he knows it's political suicide to actually state that outright!!
I don't talk rubbish...I just don't agree with you!

WetAugust · 21/11/2014 11:31

he wAs giving his personal view that was not adopted by the party. Yet you insist on focusing on that instead if Ukips actual policy that gas been stated and restated

Cameron promised no inheritance tax. didn't happen Cameron promised EAW vote. didn't happen

labours Lord Winston, you know that nice chap that helps with test tube babes, wants to charge you to use the NHS

But you prefer to spread lies about UKIP

OP posts:
Badvocinapeartree · 21/11/2014 11:34

I think it's important that people know that they are his "personal views"
Because the vast majority of this country will find them abhorrent.
By all means, keep making passive aggressive comments though.
They will totally change my mind!

WetAugust · 21/11/2014 11:35

well to do houses'. Flying flags. shock horror. the BNP and EDL dont own the flag of St Georges and it's time that some people stopped thinking they dud and started reclaiming them

I gave pride in my country - unlike most Labour apologists

his anyone could consider voting for Ed and his Shambolic mates truly amazes me. You must really hate thus country to inflict him on us.

OP posts:
Badvocinapeartree · 21/11/2014 11:36

How is it lying to say he wants to privatise the NHS?
He said it.
It's on film.
He has now backtracked and said it's not UKIP policy....
For now.

Isitmebut · 21/11/2014 11:37

I just have the one comment on here and that is re Emily Thornberry, I agree that on balance, a suck-ass apology was all that was needed, not the resignation.

Moreover, as obviously a bright person who's roots show little malice in the comment, Ed running the country in 2015 will need both friends and bright people to do so, and he (and we) will miss her.

The silly thing in my opinion is WHY the flags might have been flying in this case; England had been playing over the past week or so and football fanatics would have been up for it e.g. against Scotland, so possibly bad t-t-t-t-t-timing for her.

Badvocinapeartree · 21/11/2014 11:38

I know who I am, thanks.
I see no need to "advertise" my nationality.
And I think people who do are a bit odd.
Mind you, I am the daughter of an immigrant, so you probably wont want to speak to me any more :)
#theresalwaysanupside

Badvocinapeartree · 21/11/2014 11:41

Was that directed at me?...did I say I was going to vote for ed?

Nope. Don't think so.
No idea who I am going to vote for, other than it won't be the Tories or Nigel's barmy army.
I am very very proud of the NHS. Of my country's human rights record. Of the British sense of humour. Of my home.
I just don't agree with you!

Isitmebut · 21/11/2014 11:48

WetAugust ... UKIP are anti public sector, it is in writing with UKIP's 2010 General Election manifesto and on the NHS video....'no smoke and a fire' comes to mind.....it will come back over the next 6-months and rightly so as voters kick the UKIP tyres in a General Election, very different to a by-election, as UKIPs record on votes plummeting shows, in 2005 and 2010.

“At-a-glance: UKIP (2010) general election manifesto”
news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/election_2010/8617187.stm
• Reduce public sector to 1997 size, diverting two million jobs to manufacturing and industry
• Freeze public sector pensions, bringing them "back into line with typical private sector pension provision".

There is a new document from UKIP called "Policies for People" which highlights their policies.

On the NHS, they are

"The National Health Service

– UKIP will ensure the NHS is free at the point of delivery and time of need for all UK residents.

– We will stop further use of PFI in the NHS and encourage local authorities to buy out their PFI contracts early where this is affordable.

– We will ensure that GPs’ surgeries are open at least one evening per week, where there is demand for it.

– UKIP opposes plans to charge patients for visiting their GP.

–We will ensure that visitors to the UK, and migrants until they have paid NI for five years, have NHS-approved private health insurance as a condition of entry to the UK, saving the NHS £2bn pa. UKIP will commit to spending £200m of the £2bn saving to end hospital car parking charges in England.

– We will replace Monitor and the Care Quality Commission with elected county health boards to be more responsive scrutineers of local health services. These will be able to inspect health services and take evidence from whistle-blowers.

– UKIP opposes the sale of NHS data to third parties.

– We will ensure foreign health service professionals coming to work in the NHS are properly qualified and can speak English to a standard acceptable to the profession.

– UKIP will amend working time rules to give trainee doctors, surgeons and medics the proper environment to train and practise.

– There will be a duty on all health service staff to report low standards of care."

Odd fir wanting to show you are proud of your country. very sad that some people feel that way about their fellow countrymen

You may be interested to know that Carswell and Reckless are in Parliament as we speak, voting Against NHS privatisation via TTIP

That would be the TTIP that the EU is forcing on us, that Cameron has endorsed and that Labour accept if the want to stay in the EU

and it may interest you to know that UKIP policy is to buy out these exhorbitanr PFI deals that Labour sealed us with when they were destroying the NHS by privatisation

OP posts:
claig · 21/11/2014 11:56

'Odd for wanting to show you are proud of your country.'

I think it is based on fear.

claig · 21/11/2014 11:57

i.e. the feeling that others are odd for doing it.

claig · 21/11/2014 12:03

'UKIP will commit to spending £200m of the £2bn saving to end hospital car parking charges in England.'

Absolutely brilliant. UKIP will get rid of this absolute scandal. The other parties are bound to steal that policy, so terrified are they of the rise of the People's Party.

Farage has said he will hold back his policies now because the other parties are stealing UKIP's common sense policies.

Isitmebut · 21/11/2014 12:05

Claig .... 'don't you just love the smell of policy 'flip flops in the morning'?

Farage for 2015 has to put a 2015 General Election manifesto together for ALL political colours, not just right wing Conservatives as in 2010 - and that will be when the POLICY FUN starts, UKIP pretending what they stand for, until AFTER the votes are counted.

Carswell/Reckless disagree on many UKIP policies e.g. HS2.

Hahah... and TTIPs again, where folk law says those nasty Americans get automatic contracts in the NHS without a government have a say, and don't ALREADY have the option to take legal actions against governments for dumb ass decisions (they want to change mid contract) that lead to Breech of Contract.

Badvocinapeartree · 21/11/2014 12:18

Ok claig.
Ill bite.
How are they going to pay for these "common sense" policies?

WetAugust · 21/11/2014 12:20

if you have diver shirked in the public sector you would know that the state very rarely sues any organisation for breach of contract. The companies know that. You'd also know that almost all contracts have to be published in the OJEC, so they are open to competition from across the EU. TTIP widens that.

OP posts:
claig · 21/11/2014 12:30

'How are they going to pay for these "common sense" policies?'

They are going to save £2 billion per year from the NHS budget by asking visitors to the UK, and migrants until they have paid NI for five years, to have NHS-approved private health insurance as a condition of entry to the UK.

They are going to save £9 billion a year by slashing the foreign aid budget.

They are going to save billions by ending taxpayer subsidies to windfarms and aristoicrats for erecting them on their land.

They are going to slash quangos and save billions.

They are going to save in the region of £60 billion by scrapping HS2.
