Sorry, lost the end of the thread there!

Thread 5

OP posts:
Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/09/2014 13:06

Good grief, is this thread still going on???

Interesting that the same few posters are still insisting the only possible narrative is "evil Israel" ... Hmm

PigletJohn · 27/09/2014 13:33

there are certainly people who criticise the actions of the State of Israel.

There are other people who criticise the actions of Hamas.

It's curious that you interpret all posts as meaning "Evil Israel"

TheHoneyBadger · 27/09/2014 13:41

would you care to share your alternative narrative?

maybe it's that there aren't really any plausible narratives that make murdering thousands of civilians a good thing.

the only ones available seem to be 'they're nasty, dirty people or arabs therefore terrorists so it's ok'.

TheHoneyBadger · 27/09/2014 13:42

without resorting to some humans have less rights than others or deserve to be protected by international law than others there really seems to be no narrative that makes mass murder 'ok'.

KareninsGirl · 27/09/2014 16:44

One link was about Poland, the other didn't work. Unsurprising really.

No point even debating with real facts as it seems the same old bigoted and ignorant posters are still intent on demonising the only democracy in the Middle East where Arabs feel safe - Israel. Sad really. I feel sorry for you all.

One day you will be forced to admit that Hamas is the evil one, using their own citizens as targets, and that israel was simply defending itself against extremists.

But hey, you carry on.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/09/2014 16:51

Would you care to share your alternative narrative?

Not again, no

Along with a few other more measured posters I mentioned my own views weeks ago, and was instantly fallen upon by the massed ranks of hatred; I really can't summon up the enthusiasm to discuss it further with those who believe the only possible point of view is their own

Don't mind me, though ... as you were

TheHoneyBadger · 27/09/2014 17:22

lol. bit more name calling and tabloidesque posturing rather than anything coherent then.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/09/2014 17:24

If you say so, Honeybadger - I'm sure you must be right Hmm

Springheeled · 27/09/2014 17:36

I've been watching the testimonies to the Russell Tribunal- anyone else? It has been really interesting.

TheHoneyBadger · 27/09/2014 18:26

no - any links?

babbas · 27/09/2014 19:29

Karen - the only democracy in the middle east where Arab s feel safe is israel??!! Wow. Just wow.

Some posters on this thread make me feel like I've stumbled upon a bizarre parallel universe where the reality is completely inverted and the aggressor is the victim. Wow.

PigletJohn · 27/09/2014 19:54

"massed ranks of hatred"

meaning people who disapprove of slaughtering and maiming people by the thousand, most of whom are non-combatants and many of them children

meaning people who disapprove of gunboats shelling to bits children playing football on a beach

meaning people who disapprove of stealing homes and land on ethnic or religious grounds

Yeah, that's definitely "hatred"

Springheeled · 27/09/2014 20:01

On YouTube now Honeybadger- various journalists etc discussing experiences

TheHoneyBadger · 27/09/2014 20:36

collated on the website here

Yruapita · 27/09/2014 21:17

Karenins, You do know that Israel is an occupying power don't you? You as where Palestine is! Many Israel supporters like you, would love to have Palestine wiped off the face of the earth and they would be the first to cry about Hamas wanting to wipe Israel off the map! Thankfully, not all Israelis think like that. I would argue that this article in the NY Times by an Israeli-American writer is a chink of light for truth. how israel silences dissent

Londongirl are you referring to the human rights supporters and anti-apartheid supporters as regulars? I use various media sources for information and a very close friend was in Israel whilst Gaza was being bombed back to the stone age. Friend visited some Palestinian areas too. Friend is not Palestinian. It was pretty sad hearing about everyday life for Palestinians, all of which has been posted about in previous threads.

PigletJohn · 27/09/2014 21:21

KareninsGirl

you asked "just to humour you- where exactly do you think Palestine is?"

As you seem to say that you only saw the link about occupation of Poland, you had better go back and read the two links about Palestine.

There's no point in you asking rhetorical questions and then ignoring replies.

Yruapita · 27/09/2014 21:23

Some extracts from the link above: how Israel silences dissent.

On July 10, the veteran Israeli actress Gila Almagor did not show up to perform at Tel Aviv’s Habima Theater; she had received threats that she would be murdered on stage. In an interview in the Israeli daily Yediot Aharonot a few days earlier, she had expressed feeling ashamed after a 16-year old Palestinian, Muhammad Abu Khdeir, was kidnapped and burned alive by Jewish extremists.

TheHoneyBadger · 27/09/2014 21:24

i'm watching john dugards account (video number two on that link). that states very clearly where and what gaza and the west bank are in terms of international law. perhaps you should watch that kareninsgirl.

it's actually a very clear outline of international law, the legal status of gaza and legality of israel's actions. really have to hope palestinian leadership signs up with the international court - it could really help them potentially

Yruapita · 27/09/2014 21:24

In an interview during the Gaza war, the popular comedian Orna Banai said she felt terrible that Palestinian women and children were being killed — she was subsequently fired from her position as spokeswoman for an Israeli cruise ship operator.

Yruapita · 27/09/2014 21:28

For most of Israel’s existence, the majority of Israelis have allowed the state, in the name of Jewish sovereignty and security, to violate Palestinians’ basic human rights — including access to water and the freedom of movement and assembly.

Yruapita · 27/09/2014 21:31

Now it is the few Jewish Israelis who speak the language of human rights who are branded as enemies.

This post and those above are from how israel silences dissent

Yruapita · 27/09/2014 21:34

I hope ICC helps the Palestinians. There is crazy pressure on the Palestinians by Europe and US not to join the ICC. There is also pressure on ICC and there will be a lot of technicalities to work through. I just hope that human rights prevail in the end.

Yruapita · 27/09/2014 21:50

Thanks for that link velvet. Mahmoud Abbas stood up to the bullies and pointed his finger at the bullies and now the bullies don't like it. So much so, that now they have started likening him to Hamas! Credit to Abbas for speaking up against the aggressors.

KareninsGirl · 27/09/2014 22:11

I have posted enough FACTUAL links on precious threads which have been overlooked due to them completely shattering the myth about Israel that you seem - bizarrely - intent on portraying.

I suggest you go back and find them.

I am weary of the bullying on this thread which is why I left it for so long.
