Madeleine McCann investigation

I saw today that possible excavations are to start in the resort where MM went missing.

Does anyone think the progress The Met have made is astonishing given the length of time that has elapsed? I can't help but wonder what progress could have been made if they had been involved at the start.

I really hope that somehow they can find out what happened and give her family some sort of closure. I know the ins and outs of what happened and her parents leaving her have been discussed at length on MN but from a crime point of view I would be very interested to see if the Portugese police had done enough or not.

It's ok Sabrina. I know I shouldn't get dragged into these threads, but I get so angry that so much crap misinformation is posted.

As various sites have been mentioned, just to balance things up a bit, I'll mention this one

Almaral accused them of it, Beyond - you've watched his nasty video? There's a clip of bottles of calpol on there, as though that's proof of them drugging their daughter to sleep. Hmm

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 09/05/2014 22:55

(Complete o/t, nice guidelines have changed and recommend you dont give calpol for a temp now, and as little as possible for pain)

AnyaKnowIt · 09/05/2014 22:56

I do wonder how much mis information comes from the British press?

ExcuseTypos · 09/05/2014 22:56

Not true costa.

Traces of drugs stay in the hair for months. As long as the hair hasn't been cut off, the drugs will still be found in the hair.

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 09/05/2014 22:56

Worse, actually, Almaral says the drug was indicated in her "accident" - and so they caused it.

Yes, excusetypos, me too. Shouldn't get sucked in.

Costacoffeeplease · 09/05/2014 22:57

The twins had had haircuts

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 09/05/2014 22:59

Calpol doesn't send them to sleep, costa.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 09/05/2014 23:00

Yup, what excusetypos said. Would only be of any help if the twins had the same medication though, if mm was given anything. To use my ds1 again, ds2 would show no traces of antihistimine (and coincidentally is naturally a better sleeper than ds1)

I'll have to watch the video again in the morning, dh is snoring away next to me. I have seen it before, but dont particularly remember it.

Scousadelic · 09/05/2014 23:02

Calpol is only paracetamol and does not make a child sleep unless it is pain, fever, etc that is keeping them awake so no way of drugging a healthy child with that which doctors would know.

AnyaKnowIt · 09/05/2014 23:03

I've never see the video, is it worth watching?

ExcuseTypos · 09/05/2014 23:03

Had they Costa? How do you know that?

nomorequotes · 09/05/2014 23:07

if you look up Calcold, that is basically the same formula that Calpol Night used to be.

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 09/05/2014 23:08

I expect it suits the PJ files, excusetypos.

LaVolcan · 09/05/2014 23:08

I thought that they had changed the formulation of Calpol, so that what you buy now is not the same as that available in 2007? Also countries differ in which medicines they deem acceptable, and which can be sold over the counter, or by the pharmacist or on prescription.

Costacoffeeplease · 09/05/2014 23:09

I know a lot of things

MrsMaturin · 09/05/2014 23:10

Is it now controversial to take small children for hair cuts? Hmm Obviously sinister behaviour comes in some pretty good disguises now.

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 09/05/2014 23:12

I had my first child in 2002 - calpol didn't send them to sleep then and it didn't when MM went missing.

calpol night has been introduced after, as excusetypos said.

ExcuseTypos · 09/05/2014 23:12

Costacoffeeplease-"I know a lot of things"

Are we meant to take that comment seriously?

noddyholder · 09/05/2014 23:12

Gerry McCann had a blog for a long time not sure it still is there but he said in it that the twins hair had been cut several times and so tests wouldn't show anything. Kate McCann believes all 3 children were possibly drugged by the abductor but hair cuts and time meant tests showed nothing

Costacoffeeplease · 09/05/2014 23:14

Am I meant to out myself to suit you?

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 09/05/2014 23:14

Almaral? Is it really you??

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 09/05/2014 23:15

Well, I can guess you have an axe to grind...

nomorequotes · 09/05/2014 23:20

or maybe she just has a different point of view to you and a different set of facts due to living in Portugal?

Perhaps that is okay...

ExcuseTypos · 09/05/2014 23:20

I agree Sabrina- and a big one at that.
