Time for a new thread - Part 4 nearly full

OP posts:
emotionsecho · 20/04/2014 18:41

MadcatGirl are you implying that June Steenkamp is only worried about the loss of an income from her daughter?

onedev · 20/04/2014 18:48

What a horrible thing to say Madcat - her daughter has been horribly murdered.

LookingThroughTheFog · 20/04/2014 18:49

By 'utterly broke' I wonder if it's a colloquialism for 'utterly broken'.

onedev · 20/04/2014 18:49

Utterly broken I could understand.

Madcatgirl · 20/04/2014 18:51

No, but it certainly raises questions doesn't it? Your daughter is dead and you don't care if her killer goes to jail? That's bloody strange to me.

onedev · 20/04/2014 18:53

I read that she just wants to know the truth. I can't imagine what anyone goes through when a child is murdered so wouldn't consider passing comment on how people think or feel & just pray that I never know.

Springheeled · 20/04/2014 18:56

Been following this thread and the whole story with interest. I don't believe a word of his defence, it's nonsensical.

emotionsecho · 20/04/2014 18:58

I interpreted/read June Steenkamp's comments as she didn't care what happened to OP as nothing would bring back her daughter.

Nerf · 20/04/2014 19:00

And my grandad assists me financially - regular monthly payment - I'd be devasted if he died - the two things aren't mutually exclusive. Dh is an income stream for me - equally I'd rather he didn't die because I like him, not because I like the cash.

FreeLikeABird · 20/04/2014 19:01

This is one interview Reeva's parents done last year.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2351564/Reeva-Steenkamp-Parents-Barry-June-speak-daughter-Oscar-Pistorious-time.html

Another one more recent -

m.today.com/news/reeva-steenkamps-mother-i-can-forgive-oscar-pistorius-2D79315362

June Steenkamp did say she didn't care if he goes to jail or not, she said just wants the truth, she said nothing is going to make Reeva come back.

FreeLikeABird · 20/04/2014 19:06

Hmmm another interesting article

www.theguardian.com/world/2014/feb/07/steenkamp-family-greenbushes-oscar-pistorius-trial

I have learnt to do links Grin

LookingThroughTheFog · 20/04/2014 19:08

The problem with the media stuff is that it ebbs and flows. Particularly at the moment where they feel they have to retain people's interest during the recess.

There was one today in I think the Mirror, where Pistorius was accused of taking acting lessons. I'm not going to link to it because it's all hearsay and accusation.

I do wonder how much pressure the Steenkamps have felt from Pistorius supporters.

RonaldMcDonald · 20/04/2014 19:08

Ms Steenkamp's may not have cared then, their feelings might be different now
I think some of the trial will have affected their views

The problem imo is that people often seek justice and rarely get it. Even when they get a conviction etc they rarely get to the truth and it changes nothing in outcome
This is hugely difficult to come to terms with

StackALee · 20/04/2014 19:16

I think it's odd to say these text messages show Reeva as much more into him than he is into her. She just sounds lie someone who will seak out if she feels he's been treated badly.

I wonder if the bunny thing was something to do with his mum, it certainly seemed to bother Reeva.

Nerf · 20/04/2014 19:17

OPs family have stated that they are disgusted by the twitter etc stuff about Reeva. I imagine that her parents are at the wanting to know what happened stage, until then, they can't know if they want OP in jail.
Initially her father always saying that he didn't bear ill will to OP so things do move on.

RonaldMcDonald · 20/04/2014 19:18

I think that he will have been very extensively prepared for taking the stand
whether this is called coaching, preparing, acting whatever I believe he will have spent weeks going over his version and trying to make it believable and make himself likeable/credible

Normal for a rich or famous killer pretrial I'd guess

RonaldMcDonald · 20/04/2014 19:20

with my dark mind the rabbit stuff I thought was some allusion to sex or sex toys

embarrassed to admit

FreeLikeABird · 20/04/2014 19:26

I thought the rabbit stuff was maybe to do with an ex girlfriend.

Roussette · 20/04/2014 19:48

Madcatgirl - Mrs Steenkamp explains herself very well. She doesn't care whether OP goes to prison or not because it will not bring her daughter back and she can't live with bitterness for the rest of her life. All she wants is her daughter back and prison is irrelevant to her. Brave woman who can think like this. I'm not sure I could but I sort of get it.

OP posts:
JackyDanny · 20/04/2014 20:50

Wow, the daily record article.
June Steenkamp, I take my hat off to you.
What a wise and gracious lady you are.

I think the closest we will get to the truth is what the judge surmises.

emotionsecho · 20/04/2014 22:19

Sadly I don't think Mrs Steenkamp will ever hear the whole truth about the death of her daughter from OP. I find his picking and choosing of Christian principles quite difficult to stomach.

Also, to infer that Mrs Steenkamp only misses her daughter due to financial reasons is really vile, I think she has suffered enough and to dismiss her pain so callously is reprehensible.

mary21 · 21/04/2014 08:27

Got it
The bail statement is the truth everything else added since is fabrication.
That night everything happened as he said till he fell asleep. Reeva couldn't sleep so got back up. Didn't put on flip flops as on his side of the bed. Went down stairs turning of alarms. Stayed up watching telly. Had snack. At 3 am went back upstairs. Oscar came to with noise of her coming back into room. She didn't turn on lights. She had phone with her because had been downstairs. He relocked the door after she came in and replaced the bat.. went o bathroom not passing bed
Then the story recommences as per Oscars bail application. He never saw her because she wasn't there. He didn't speak to her.
Duvet on floor because he threw it if bed when he returned to room
He did mean to kill whoever was behind door but not reeva

BookABooSue · 21/04/2014 09:29

I've just been catching up with the thread. It seems to have veered in some different directions from usual Hmm . . .
Ronald thanks for pasting upthread about when OP said he hadn't spoken to his father. I completely missed OP saying that - sorry! And thanks for posting it.
Regarding the journalist following the horrible twitter poster, it doesn't mean she is endorsing them. If you're covering a story, you keep abreast of all the angles, even the abhorrent ones.

StackALee · 21/04/2014 10:12

Mary21, why would OP fabricate?

What about th screaming and shouting?
