OP posts:

Didn't the photographer say he spread the duvet out on the floor?

SirChenjin · 11/04/2014 10:45

I've missed the bit about the duvet - and the DCs are all up and about so I'll miss the rest of the trial today, dammit - why was the duvet on the floor important?

Roussette · 11/04/2014 10:45

Thanks stack because I have been wondering the significance of the continued questioning about the jeans being next to, or on top of, the duvet. Now I know!

StackALee · 11/04/2014 10:47

"you only would go onto the landing to go to stairs or bedroom 2 or 3."

Isn't there testimony that he locked the bedroom door anyway - so anyone going out would have had to unlock it.

FreeLikeABird · 11/04/2014 10:47

He said today before he carried reeva down stairs he went and unlocked the front door for paramedics etc, he got his door keys and the alarm system keypad is on his door keys, he said he must have turned it off as the alarm didn't go off.

The eating thing I'm not sure of as there has been lots of info stating they can't pinpoint any time, 2 witnesses spoke about this, I though there was a time scale and also it depended on what foods were eaten etc.

FreeLikeABird · 11/04/2014 10:48

Redcoats I believe the photographer did say that.

nauticant · 11/04/2014 10:49

I am a bit baffled by comments on this thread that OP must have heard RS get out of bed. How noisy doesn't getting out of bed tend to be? When I get out of bed, there's the slight rustle of the duvet getting pushed back and then soft padding noises as my feet touch the floor and I walk away.

I know some people clump about* but many people just don't.

  • I swear next door wear clogs when they walk around the wooden floors of their house
FreeLikeABird · 11/04/2014 10:49

Yes stack that's true he did say the bedroom door was locked, although wasn't there mention of a lock broken so he put the cricket bat against it too?

StackALee · 11/04/2014 10:50

I think he just unlocked it but he said that he always locked his bedroom.

He says 'I don't remember that part of the evening' a lot.

FreeLikeABird · 11/04/2014 10:51

Sir, because if the duvet was on the floor where it is, the fans can not be where OP said they were as he said they were where the duvet is.

StackALee · 11/04/2014 10:52

"I am a bit baffled by comments on this thread that OP must have heard RS get out of bed. How noisy doesn't getting out of bed tend to be? When I get out of bed, there's the slight rustle of the duvet getting pushed back and then soft padding noises as my feet touch the floor and I walk away. "

well, he wasn't on the balcony (He says) he was in the relatively small room. I think it's strange he didn't hear her.

is he now saying he ran out to balcony to get help? Didn't he say at some point that he didn't?

LouiseBrooks · 11/04/2014 10:53

Didn't the photographer say he spread the duvet out on the floor?

I also read that Von Rensburg had said it was moved and I think OP is trying to point this out. It's a question of how far it was moved I suppose but it seems to me that there is some corroboration for OP's suggestion that it was moved, therefore the scene is contaminated.

StackALee · 11/04/2014 10:54

it does seem like...

every time he realises he's saying things that may be damaging...

he get's all 'this is the night I lost the person I cared about'

Roussette · 11/04/2014 10:54

another adjournment because OP is upset. I may be wrong, but it just seems to me, when he gets to the 'I don't remember' bits, he breaks down. Nel has no choice but to back off from his questioning.

OneStepCloser · 11/04/2014 10:55

Its going to be very difficult for OP to talk about what actually happened that night as he seems physically unable to talk, I dont know where thats going to leave this case?

AnyaKnowIt · 11/04/2014 10:56

With the jeans/duvet
Op is saying that the jeans were on the floor but duvet was on the bed.
Nel is saying the duvet was on the floor because the jeans are on top.

OneStepCloser · 11/04/2014 10:56

I know Rousette, I can be interpretted either way cant it.

LouiseBrooks · 11/04/2014 10:58

This from Alex Crawford
"so even at night and at home, OP covered his prosthetic legs"

Whether he killed her deliberately or not, I find that incredibly touching. What a field day a psychologist would have with it.

FreeLikeABird · 11/04/2014 11:00

Louise - do they mean covered them when he had taken them off ?

LouiseBrooks · 11/04/2014 11:01

Apparently, yes.

OneStepCloser · 11/04/2014 11:04

Its a funny thing Louise, its been 12 years since I lost my leg, I still dont like looking at either my leg leaning up against the wall or when my body is under a sheet you can see where my leg ends, I still find that sad. I`m fine under a duvet or when its on, I feel complete.

I didnt take it off for some time when I met DH, had sex with it on, that was erm, different, it was a major day when I had sex without it.

Sorry, a little tmi, but its a very personal thing, so I understand him covering them. I sometimes wake up now and forget, until I see it. (In the early days I did jump out of bed forgetting once, only happened once!)

FloralPuddles · 11/04/2014 11:04

It really does seem as soon as Nel starts to really break apart OP's version with an unexpected line of questioning then Oscar breaks down, buys time.

Also I find the statement "I lost someone I cared about, why does no one understand that" strange for a few reasons;

Cared? Has he ever said I loved Reeva in a sentence without being asked? Cared seems so strange given the enormity of his sweetheart dying in such a tragic way.

I also find the 'whinning' of no one understands a bit hard to swallow with Reeva's parents watching on.

LouiseBrooks · 11/04/2014 11:07

OneStepCloser, is sad and I suppose it's something you could never relaly get used to. I think because he wouldn't remember a time when he had his legs I thought it would be easier.

FloralPuddles · 11/04/2014 11:08

Onestep, thank you for that really interesting insight into what it is like to 'forget' for that split second, intimacy. It's things like that, the real everyday things that I would never of thought of before in that way.

OneStepCloser · 11/04/2014 11:13

No, Im fine, its part (or not as the case may be) of me, but Im in a happy place, family, career etc...

But I can understand how hard it is for him, he maybe comfortable with it but unfortunately not everyone in the world is, so he may not have been comfortable with a gf seeing them on the floor. If they were arguing, he may not feel equal without them on?
