Wow, HB! From a superficial google, it seems McInerney is not well regarded is some circles. But what he said ...

Jjuice · 26/03/2014 12:57

Indeed a gracious apology firstchoice we have all posted things we regret. I have spent weeks before now regretting something I have said.

Honey I don't have sound here - what are they saying, in brief?

Burmahere · 26/03/2014 12:58

firstchoice Smile

It was Loopy in particular that I was thinking of too.

GarlicMarchHare · 26/03/2014 13:08

Jjuice - this'll be dead quick, as I'm late! He says the plane's in Pakistan and the Pakistan government must know this. A skilled pilot could have shadowed the Singapore plane to avoid radar. America's always known MH370 wasn't in the South Indian Ocean because it has shithot satellites (LEOs?) covering the plane's supposed southern trajectory every 15 mins.

On Monday & Tuesday, there was a massive world conference in The Hague, hence why a large plane with its transponders turned off was a fucking enormous worry.

The anniversary of bin Laden's death will be 2nd May.

McInerney is extremely paranoid about the Taliban (not saying that's irrational, btw.)

GarlicMarchHare · 26/03/2014 13:10

Oh, and the US owns a state-of-the-art surveillance plane that can fly for 32 hours at a stretch. It hasn't be sent to the Southern Indian Ocean.

GarlicMarchHare · 26/03/2014 13:11

Fox news has withdrawn its pages covering this topic.

Going for the world speed record in showering & catching bus now!

MySweetPrince · 26/03/2014 13:31

Hang on - have i just heard right....the Dutch airforce have scrambled 2 fighter jets to escort an unidentified plane in their airspace, the plane is a 777 and just happened to be flying into Holland - (from the US) where the G8 leaders
are all gathered, and somehow "forgot" to ask for permission to enter?

AnyaKnowIt · 26/03/2014 13:33

Fucking hell garlic

Jjuice · 26/03/2014 13:36

Ah thanks Garlic tinfoilhat back on....

Jjuice · 26/03/2014 13:38

$5000 to the families? are they serious?? initial payment or not!

MySweetPrince · 26/03/2014 13:47

Tinfoil hat??? I need a feckin great suit of armour ...........too many coincidences with the Dutch revelations..could a plane fly from Diego Garcia to Holland witjout being tracked?...will they now conveniently find wreckage in the ocean?

singersgirl · 26/03/2014 14:11

Honestly, the bonkers conspiracy theorists on this thread are what I find most distasteful. It's soap opera rubbernecking at its most unpleasant.

LoopyDoopyDoo · 26/03/2014 14:20

Goodness, please don't apologise to me, don't be silly. Totally inappropriate, but I can see where the house thing came from. Far too soon from where I'm sitting, but I get it.

What's this Dutch thing? Can't find anything of note on it.

AngelaDaviesHair · 26/03/2014 14:22

I can see how many families will need £ fast to cover expenses-they are not at work, contemplating a trip to Australia etc, and it seems right for the airline to help them with that.

laregina · 26/03/2014 14:22

The Dutch incident seems to have been reported two days ago from what I could Google Confused

fflonkl · 26/03/2014 14:38

Yes the money is to help with expenses. It's not compensation though I've already seen headlines about lawyers being consulted!

GarlicMarchHare · 26/03/2014 15:21

I'm reading a long & worrying article about al Quaida. It says " in Laden said that Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia and the Indian Ocean region would be Al Qaedas main battlefields in the coming years, and that he needed more fighters in the region" mobile.nytimes.com/2014/03/23/magazine/what-pakistan-knew-about-bin-laden.html Sorry for bad typing, am

MySweetPrince · 26/03/2014 15:29

O.k well massive coincidence then that a 777 plane goes missing en route from KL to Bejiing. No contact with pilots, no mayday or distress signal, no contact with passengers ( except the relatives saying that passengers phones were ringing sometime after it was reported missing),no tracking, no sightings ( except the people in the Maldives who reported a low flying plane who have been ignored) no radar (except for the pings) no wreckage, no debris. Yet. Then 3 weeks later as world leaders meet in Holland for a summit an unidentified 777 plane is diverted from Dutch airspace as it has made no communication with Dutch airspace. On the very day that all the leaders are meeting.
One huge coincidence.....I hope.

BoiledPiss · 26/03/2014 15:31

Mysweet... Let's hope! Shock

TheGirlFromIpanema · 26/03/2014 15:47

Sweetprince.

It wasn't unidentified though Hmm

It just hadn't applied for the appropriate clearance to land. Appropriate clearance only being necessary due to the summit.

Same happens here when world leaders are in town.

A 777 is probably the equivalent of an astra or something in car terms. It's common, has loads of different models and is widely used the world over. Two being involved in separate incidents is not a strange coincidence.

SolomanDaisy · 26/03/2014 17:15

I love the attempt to make a conspiracy out of the Dutch diversion. Could a plane have flown from Diego Garcia to the Netherlands untracked? Well clearly not, since the Dutch immediately spotted this one, scrambled fighter jets and diverted it. To Germany, not Diego Garcia. Presumably Hitler had been smuggled on the plane from his South American hideaway, ready to make a triumphant return to the cargo depot of Schiphol.

member · 26/03/2014 17:38

Arf at Presumably Hitler had been smuggled on the plane from his South American hideaway, ready to make a triumphant return to the cargo depot of Schiphol.

Sounds on the same level of plausibility as the plane being flown to Shetland with Elvis on board Hmm

wannaBe · 26/03/2014 17:44

Fgs the conspiracy theorists are almost as bad as the property porn viewers. Oh wait, they’re one and the same, perhaps that’s just a coincidence eh? Hmm

These threads had moved into the realms of rubbernecking ages ago IMO but tbh I think that’s all they are now. IMO it’s time mn hq started commenting or perhaps even deleted these threads.. There are real people involved here, people waiting for news of their actual loved ones, and all some can do is make up bollocks about alqaida and jump on every story about an aeroplane because they’re all linked dontcha know? Just to fuel their own need for a good conspiracy discussion.... Hmm

nauticant · 26/03/2014 18:05

The worst thing about the conspiracy theorists is that in a case like this with loose ends, their nutcase theories will cause years of doubt and misery to the families of the victims.

TheHoneyBadger · 26/03/2014 18:40

i really don't see that nastiness, insults and attacks are necessary nor that compatible with self righteousness.

not everyone has to agree or see things the same way such is freedom of thought and speech. nor does anyone have the right to silence anyone else.

if you are so sick of the thread and the people discussing this topic there is obviously a simpler answer than hanging around just to insult people and tell them they shouldn't be talking.
