FGS please start your own thread for the property links.

Very very distasteful. Sad

Eyelet · 25/03/2014 21:55

I was a little taken aback to find links to houses.

Re the comment upthread about the eyewitnesses of a plane in the Maldives, has anything further on that from a reputable source been discussed?

BoiledPiss · 25/03/2014 21:56

Hoping for some more answers for those poor families soon Sad

lessonsintightropes · 25/03/2014 21:58

Sorry but WTAF - I've been posting on threads 1 - 5 and been away for a while - how did we get from 'it looks as if everybody's died' to 'let's do property porn'? Been away from this thread for 48 hours.

Sorry if I'm being a bit of a killjoy but bloody hell some people have gone from a serious and sometimes useful discussion to something completely different. Not so much a thread disrail as massive disrespect. Did you all notice that we had confirmation less than 24 hours ago that 239 people have died? FFS

Hissy · 25/03/2014 21:59

It is an aside, distasteful is picking over every detail, now that it looks like these poor people have lost their lives.

There is 'no news' at the moment, there may never be any news. our thoughts will leave speculation behind and will be with the living for now.

These people have had to carry on their lives while wondering all the while Wtf has happened to their family or friends. They have had to put the bins out, walk the dog, wash up, work to deadlines, take the kids to school. Life for these people does go on.

The posts are no more offensive than others continually ruminating and speculating on what has or hasn't happened to the poor people aboard that flight.

Reporting them is unnecessary.

KareninsGirl · 25/03/2014 22:16

eyelet, not that I've seen. The witness statements were pretty much quashed as soon as they were reported

Hissy, I think you are spectacularly missing the point here. A lot of people on this post are people who have some kind of connection to this story, whether it's because they work in aviation, have family in the investigation teams, who fly frequently in the area, or who live locally, and who are genuinely trying to make sense of what has up to now looked like an impossible mystery. A member of my family is now part of an organisation that is being thoroughly slated in the press and by other parties for doing nothing other than trying to sort out what did happen which I personally find quite hard to deal with. So yes, I've got several personal links to what happened here.

Some of the rumination on this thread has veered into slightly more excited wondering than I've found comfortable at times, but it's almost always stayed on topic. I did come back to post after your defence of the above off topic veering into property porn because I wanted to try and say to you, rather than running off to Mum(snet HQ) why I thought your posts and those of a couple of others were egregiously out of order.

Burmahere · 25/03/2014 22:40

Hissy you are joking aren't you? An aside?? Good grief, if you really cannot see that posting links to bloody houses on a thread like this isn't distasteful then I give up.

I didn't report you or the others who seem to be in some parallel universe and I did downplay my initial criticism but dear god I honestly had to look up at the thread title to see that I hadn't wandered on to the wrong one by mistake.

It is utterly insulting to anyone connected to this disaster and baffling to someone like me who whilst isn't connected in any way feels intense sorrow for what has happened.

allisgood1 · 25/03/2014 22:49

I really hope they find something and we wake up to that news in the morning. Everyone, especially the families, need closure. I selfishly need to know what happened because the not knowing means it could easily happen again. That plane was checked before it took off and deemed safe. Yet it clearly wasn't, or someone messed with it. Either way, 239 people are now dead, including small children, and the world needs answers.

Jjuice · 25/03/2014 23:14

Thanks lesson. Words failed me. Been checking all afternoon and evening and just didn't know what to say about it.

I am in no way related to the case but am a nervous flyer since I had dc. I have spent hours on here and on tomnod. Not for the reasons suggested earlier but just because I care. Just because if it had been my mum/daughter/friend on that flight I would want people to care. People the other side of the world who don't know me or mine trying to do something no matter how small to help my pain.

JJuice it doesn't matter why you care, just that you do. Thanks

CharlieSierra · 26/03/2014 05:10

IcedFrappe I feel the same way. It's what we used to be known for. I'm glad you weren't serious.

Hissy I'm with all the others who've come back on you. And sorry to see the house posts haven't been removed. I felt justified in reporting when it looked like the thread was getting back on track and then someone came along who I don't recall having contributed anything else to the thread and just posted a property link. It disgusted me.

Burmahere · 26/03/2014 07:48

I wonder how long the press conferences will go on for? It must be a nightmare having to try and say something meaningful every day with the world's press hanging on to your every word.

Did the search planes manage to get out today (last night their time)?

mileysorearse · 26/03/2014 08:12

Yes Burma, the weather has improved and the search has resumed. The Australian PM has said that they owe it to the families to find out what happened.

DieselSpillage · 26/03/2014 08:23

If they find any real evidence, big enough to have not been planted, I'll eat my tin hat !

Purpleknickers · 26/03/2014 08:29

I am truly hoping for some news today, I was extremely relieved to see on the news that the weather has improved.

Maybe I being naively hopeful but there is still a slight chance that lifeboats may have been deployed and there could still be survivors? I know they say its a terrible stretch of ocean but there has to be hope

I totally agree an explanation is firstly owed to the families and then the rest of the world

conquita · 26/03/2014 08:36

I live in Australia and just saw on the evening news the plane could not be in a worst area. They have more knowledge of the surface of the moon than the area the plane is supposed to be. It is unexplored territory apparantly.

"Maybe I being naively hopeful but there is still a slight chance that lifeboats may have been deployed and there could still be survivors? I know they say its a terrible stretch of ocean but there has to be hope"

No, I don't think so. One, the plane would have broken up on impact so unlikely and two, I don't think the life rafts or the people could have survived so many days in the oceans with limited water etc.

Purpleknickers · 26/03/2014 09:30

Doctrine I know in my sensible mind that you are right Sad

LoopyDoopyDoo · 26/03/2014 09:45

Jesus, MN has gone mad. Rightmove comparisons on a thread like this? How disgusting.

No news today, it seems.

AnyaKnowIt · 26/03/2014 10:03

Sky are reporting that 122 items have been spotted.

Grim question but does anyone know what the chances are of finding any human remains, to give the families a chance to say goodbye?

TheHoneyBadger · 26/03/2014 10:05

does anyone speak dutch? the google translation button makes it garbled to say the least. here

wannaBe · 26/03/2014 10:20

"Maybe I being naively hopeful but there is still a slight chance that lifeboats may have been deployed and there could still be survivors? I know they say its a terrible stretch of ocean but there has to be hope." No, there really couldn't possibly be any survivers. it's been nearly three weeks now. plus ... well people just don't survive plane crashes like that.

I'd imagine the chances of finding any human remains are remote to say the least. Even if there are chances are they will be unidentifiable.

French satalites have picked up 122 objects....
