Reports on Twitter that the Australian-led search party has found objects/debris in Indian Ocean.

FairlyDinkum · 20/03/2014 03:29

They are reporting on Australian radio that Aust satellites have located 2 objects in the southern ocean that may belong to the plane. Media conference in about an hour. Sending a plane to investigate. I do hope there are some answers.

FairlyDinkum · 20/03/2014 03:29

Cross post!

Cavort · 20/03/2014 03:40

BBC news app has just gone off and woken me up saying possible debris has been sighted on satellite imagery. Fingers crossed this is the answer (but not the outcome) the poor relatives and friends are waiting for.

Looking like they.might have found some wreckage. Must be heartbreaking for the families.

HopelessDei · 20/03/2014 05:12

This must be it. One of the objects is about 23 metres long apparently.

Heartbreaking for those waiting.

Yes, Maybe a wing? I just googled and found out the wingspan of a Boeing is 60 metres. No expert though!

JKSLtd · 20/03/2014 05:51

Well I hope it is the plane and they can find the boxes and some answers.
I do wonder if we've all been led on a goose chase and the machines were not turned off deliberately and there never was a hijack situation.

Also why it wasn't mentioned that the plane must be at the end of one of the arcs before.

Now to try and get a bit more sleep.

Hope the relatives are being kept informed.

MyLegIsHaunted · 20/03/2014 06:00

I hope this is it. Then they can start concentrating on the 'why & how' rather than the 'where'.

Those poor families Sad

flatbellyfella · 20/03/2014 06:09

Sounds like it's the plane, so sad .

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 20/03/2014 06:13

I hope this brings some resolution for those poor families. Sad

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 20/03/2014 06:20

"Also why it wasn't mentioned that the plane must be at the end of one of the arcs before."

I'm not sure that it "must" have been. But if they made the simplifying assumption that the plane broadly flew straight once on a particular course rather than going round and round on itself, starting at the ends of the arcs rather than the middle was consistent with this.

livingzuid · 20/03/2014 06:34

News of sorts at last for those poor families of everyone on board. I hope they manage to get some closure now.

slartybartfast · 20/03/2014 06:34

hope some resolution today

livingzuid · 20/03/2014 06:35

Or closure soon at the very least. I can't imagine how awful it has been.

meditrina · 20/03/2014 06:36

How long will it take the planes to get a fix on the object? And then they'll need to send a ship to the location. Soit might take some time.

And though everyone must hope it is the plane, the oceans are surprisingly full of junk so right now it's a promising lead rather than a sure thing.
