Wish Goldie hadn't taken tonight off!

Burmahere · 19/03/2014 21:43

Wonder if she might sneak back when her DH goes to bed Grin!

TypicaLibra · 19/03/2014 21:44

I missed some of the last thread and also lost my place at some point on this one ... and reading the last few pages I'm being bombarded by mentions of tin foil hats? Can someone explain the metaphor / reference here as I've not quite got it? Blush

ChaffinchOfDoom · 19/03/2014 21:45

crazy sci-fi believing nutballs wear tinfoil hats to avoid being controlled by aliens, basically

DowntonTrout · 19/03/2014 21:46

That'll be me then.

ChaffinchOfDoom · 19/03/2014 21:50

Grin do not stick your head in the oven trout

JKSLtd · 19/03/2014 21:53

ChaffinchOfDoom · 19/03/2014 21:55

yes

TypicaLibra · 19/03/2014 21:59

Thanks Chaffinch Smile

DowntonTrout · 19/03/2014 21:59

Chaffinch why not? What will happen to me? Confused

JKSLtd · 19/03/2014 22:00

New phone doesn't want to sync with laptop but can only do photos on MN from laptop so it's a puzzle. Think I solved it by emailing the photo to myself.

Anyway - will we wake up to an Oz announcement of finding some debris tomorrow?

ChaffinchOfDoom · 19/03/2014 22:12

trout just take care

Bakingnovice · 19/03/2014 22:14

Must admit to shedding a few tears seeing that desperate grief stricken mother crying for her son today.

Absolutely disgusted with the way she was manhandled and the journos there who chased. Kay burley makes me absolutely sick. She is a pariah, and has no tact or empathy.

Sometimes it's easy to forget that so many families lives have been utterly destroyed. I mean, what the actual fuck is going on??!

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 19/03/2014 22:17

Angela is right about that though. This is after all the country that thought up baby hatches for people to dump their unwanted children, as opposed to abandoning them on the street, and said baby hatches have now been closed fore "clients" due to high demand. www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-26607505

The Chinese didn't think up baby hatches. There are several in 300 year old Italian buildings, for example.

GarlicMarchHare · 19/03/2014 22:17

Well, if it's a microwave oven, Trout, you'll turn your head into a miniature lightning storm Wink If a normal oven, wrap your tinfoil hat securely and bake your head on a medium setting for 45 mins or until crisp to the touch.

I hope they do find it tomorrow, and the flight recorders. It feels wrong to be hoping they find a plane full of people in the sea :( ... on land would be better, freezing temperatures notwithstanding.

Etainagain · 19/03/2014 22:18

I can't believe I've got into all this conspiracy stuff...normally very sceptical. But the Diego Garcia theory is very interesting, and if you're going to land a huge plane somewhere, why not on an island where flights are a daily occurrence? Or are they? Well not according to the Diego Garcia Passenger Terminal Facebook page (they've got a passenger terminal?! I'd never even heard of the place until a couple of days ago!). Seems that there were no scheduled flights on 8 March and for a couple of days after that date, even though there are normally daily flights.

GarlicMarchHare · 19/03/2014 22:18

Cross-posted, Chaffinch. Yours is better!

GarlicMarchHare · 19/03/2014 22:20

OMG, Eta! That's true!

Etainagain · 19/03/2014 22:23

I am still hoping and praying too that against all the odds the passengers and crew are alive. For the first few days I was utterly convinced that the plane had ditched in the Indian Ocean, but I've been sucked in by all the conspiracy theories which, oddly, have given me some hope and that hope will remain until they find a wreckage.

Grin Garlic Grin

Is Diego Garcia on the way to the South Pole then?

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 19/03/2014 22:39

I'm the daughter of a real, proper tin-foil hatter. May I join in?

My dad was a bunker-digging crazy person who actually fastened a satellite antenna to the top of his ceiling (inside the house!) as he believed it would interfere with the CIA's recordings of the area. Hmm

Anyway, the Diego theory is very interesting. What was the thing about mangosteens? Could they have been concealing bio weapons?

Etainagain · 19/03/2014 22:40

It is south of the Maldives.

GarlicMarchHare · 19/03/2014 22:41

There were no flights into or out of Diego Garcia from the 6th to the 11th March, because the US Navy was testing its whizzy new, Star-Wars-like laser weapon system.

US Navy promotional video (dated 6th March)

US Defence Science blog, also 6th March, with more info: science.dodlive.mil/2014/03/06/lasers-rail-guns-and-the-future-of-the-u-s-navy/?fb_action_ids=10152284210064776&fb_action_types=og.likes

I'm totally not making any connections here. Not before someone comes out with more logic around it, anyway.
