The Fail seems to think that the Pilot had a 'remote island' plumbed into his simulator. But doesn't say which one. Anyone know?

Etainagain · 19/03/2014 20:12

Diego Garcia?

IamRechargingthankYou · 19/03/2014 20:12

I'm going to ask for one thing - I think we should all start to maintain 'radio silence'.

  1. Because if the plane has been 'taken' the takers are thriving on all our worldwide 'chatter'. If anyone is discussing MH370 on any other forum please also ask for 'radio silence'.
  2. Amongst all our speculations, even if this flight malfunctioned and ended up in the drink, we are all giving away little 'tips' on hijacking/commandeering/bring down a/c in the future (myself included).
  3. I'll start another thread and instead of talking we should leave some Shamrock for luck.
ChaffinchOfDoom · 19/03/2014 20:15

? Hmm

themaltesefalcon · 19/03/2014 20:19

IamRechargingthankYou, I LOVE that "myself included." Are you including yourself as a possible terrorist, prompted, nay, compelled to bring down a plane by the witterings on Mumsnet? :)

Still not as bonkers as the posts blaming Putin (what the fuck?) or the Chinese government, mind.

firstchoice · 19/03/2014 20:22

I thought those that do actually have technical expertise had been EXTREMELY careful to be very responsible in what they 'chattered' about on here?

JKSLtd · 19/03/2014 20:23

Anywaaaay...

Etain- it might havebeen. What I meant had anyone read if the Malaysians had released the specific info rather than just saying 'an island'?

ChaffinchOfDoom · 19/03/2014 20:23

away with you to start up your clovery thread Grin

firstchoice · 19/03/2014 20:24

I imagine this is one of the saner threads on the net regarding this very puzzling and upsetting incident, and it certainly seems to have been calm and responsible to me?

Etainagain · 19/03/2014 20:26

JKS there was a report in Malaysian paper saying Diego Garcia was one of the top 5 landings pilot had in his simulator.

ChaffinchOfDoom · 19/03/2014 20:29

I had never heard of diego Garcia prior to these threads. who knew! CIA black zone... tin foil aplenty there

livingzuid · 19/03/2014 20:31

I don't think people are genuinely serious about some of the more outrageous theories hence why we all have tin foil suits, helmets children, animals and homes decked out in the stuff :) and it is interesting to hear other people's thoughts. Far more rational than the ravings of fox and the DM!

I believe all the technical peeps shared what is already available in the public domain, no more.

At the end of the day we still don't know much of anything. Thoughts are, as ever, with the families Thanks those scenes had me Welling up all day :(

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2584399/Malaysia-confirms-new-radar-data-missing-plane-flying-country-wont-say-security-reasons.html

Daily Fail... I know! Have you seen the latest they are saying that Malaysia does have more data that indicates it did fly over another country. But they are not saying which one.

At least I think that's what that article says... Unless they are over-exaggerating? (Daily Fail! Nooo, never!?)

JKSLtd · 19/03/2014 20:33

Bbc saying now. - end of either arc. More likely to be south. Aussies searching in a small-ish area at the end of the arc given 2 different routes.

Info has been available for a few days but not discussed by Malaysians.

Plane likely to have been on due south heading. Heading for the South Pole.

livingzuid · 19/03/2014 20:34

hmmkay I saw that somewhere else about the radar data. Let me see if I can link it.

JKSLtd · 19/03/2014 20:35

I have to say I was thinking earlier surely it must be near the end of an arc as that's when the engines stopped pinging.

Hmmkay · 19/03/2014 20:36

Maybe that's the place they are talking about in the article I just linked JKS? Although reading it, it said that they have radar data "from another country" but that might not mean it actually went over that country I assume!

I'm sure you'll find a much more reliable article than my one living!

Fridafirefly · 19/03/2014 20:38

I have kept up with all the threads thus far but am getting a bit lost now.

Can someone explain the 'theory' about suspicious cargo and who got killed and why it is possibly relevant to the missing plane please?

Also is it confirmed that disease specialists have flown to Diego Garcia? I guess not because how would anyone have this information if it was a covert operation.....

JKSLtd · 19/03/2014 20:38

I thought they were referring to Thailand. Who had already says they had seen it.

ChaffinchOfDoom · 19/03/2014 20:39

south pole! but why?

difficultpickle · 19/03/2014 20:41

From what I've learned on here if the new data is disclosed then it will be clear from which country the info has come and that could compromise their radar security. Not sure how they can keep it confidential for long as surely it has an implication on the search area.

Hmmkay · 19/03/2014 20:42

Think you're right JKS - daily fail always make new bits of info out to be more than they actually are Hmm

livingzuid · 19/03/2014 20:43

I read they want to start at the top of either arc and work their way in. Lots of stuff this evening about how investigators reckon it's the Indian Ocean for the plane, well one source close to it says.

They are searching an area of 8 million square km :( I was hoping against hope it would be on land somewhere with survivors but I guess it's back to the ocean as the end destination :(

Dh getting grumpy with me so I had best say good night :)

JKSLtd · 19/03/2014 20:43

Apolsimon my phone and im not good at typing on it!

The bbc man asked his source was it flying due south ? Source said that would be a reasonable assumption.
Am waiting for budget stuff to finish in the hope they go back to it !

They showed a pic of 2 tracks near each other flying south and a 4 sided shape about 3000km (I think!) to the west of Oz.
