"To be fair, some of Goldie's guesses have been wrong.
And she has been dismissing things she cant talk about."

When more info comes to light, then yes, I've had to change my analysis of what's happened. Everybody has.

I haven't dismissed what I can't talk about. I simply haven't talked about those things.

GoldieMumbles · 18/03/2014 07:41

Does MN always descend into personal attacks?

Time I wasn't here. Tata.

PartyPoison · 18/03/2014 07:43

Oh Goldie what a shame you have to leave on the note. Thanks

I'm a Goldie Groupie and proud.

ImpOfDarkness · 18/03/2014 07:43

Waves at NumanoidNancy, I know who you are! TG here.

SundaySimmons · 18/03/2014 07:47

I've appreciated your info, Goldie. You have presented your posts in an easy to understand manner and your knowledge and insights have been of benefit to my reaching a greater understanding of the situation.

NeverTalksToStrangers · 18/03/2014 07:48

Goldie, don't leave. Please.

There will always be haters.

tiaramasu · 18/03/2014 07:48

You have been leaving go. You have been ignoring some awkward questions.
Your choice of course.

lifeisgoodwithsleep · 18/03/2014 07:48

Delurking to say I have appreciated Goldie's posts and hope she does come back.

clux73 · 18/03/2014 07:51

Goldie, you are brilliant and I for one have found your information incredibly helpful. I look forward to your posts as I know they will be informative, concise and far more believable than anything I have read on pprune!

ImpOfDarkness · 18/03/2014 07:52

Goldie, the guy elsewhere who challenged you on grounds of gender was roundly denounced as being an utter twat if that's any consolation...

tiaramasu · 18/03/2014 07:52

Back to the pilot.
He did set up a flight simulator group.

And he is anti the current Government in Malaysia.

Perhaps he is doing this against the current Government in Malaysia?

[and his wife and 3 kids left him the day before. Perhaps she couldnt take his anger when the opposition leader was put in jail on possible trumped up charges?]

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 18/03/2014 07:52

Tiara that was uncalled for. Would you like all possible weaknesses in an aircraft posted on a public forum? Would you like goldie to lose her job for posting them?

Sheesh.

Thanks for your posts, Goldie, hope you come back.

ExcuseTypos · 18/03/2014 07:55

Dsis is cabin crew. She has said that crew do have a way of getting into the cockpit. Crew have communication with the pilots every 20 minutes. If they don't answer they would be able to open the cockpit door.

This is a British airline- not sure if it applies to others.

cargotrousers · 18/03/2014 07:56

One of my school friends became an aeronautical engineer. We lost touch. I'm now wondering if Goldie and I went to school together (especially as female aero engineers are still so rare as to cause some people to faint at the mere idea of a girl knowing about planes...!

PartyPoison · 18/03/2014 07:57

I think it's more indicative of knowledgeable person when someone changes their hypotheses when more information comes to light.

Previous speculation on what happened to the plane were made on the information that had been released at the time. It was always a possibility that it could have been a hijack or action from the crew but it was one of the remote possibilities. Information from Malaysia hasn't always been correct.

SolomanDaisy · 18/03/2014 07:58

The trouble with the internet is it gives some people the erroneous impression that their opinions are of equal value to those of people who know what they're talking about. These are the same people who find it difficult to comprehend that new information tends to lead experts to reevaluate their opinions.

Thanks for the information on the search arcs, Goldie and others. I had completely misunderstood how they'd been generated.

livingzuid · 18/03/2014 08:02

tiaramasu did you not see my comment from yesterday?

Goldie can go into too much detail on some subjects due to security reasons smile; this and the cockpit access spring to mind. We may have to content ourselves with our own musings and conclusions on some points!

Goldie herself yesterday:

I've tried to give all the hints that I can that I cannot talk about such a scenario on an open forum. I really can't. You have to draw your own conclusions. Sorry.

Also hankyspanky's comments just now:

^I've been following this thread (and relevant others on Pprune) avidly.

I've worked as crew on this particular aircraft and can say that the crew would have known the access codes for the flight deck.

Obviously, being a public forum, I can't elaborate further.^

Goldie, hankyspanky and anyone else who works in this area can't talk about some things due to security issues. Why is that so hard to understand?

Your comments were uncalled for.

livingzuid · 18/03/2014 08:03

Goldie hope you come back. Please ignore some of the unnecessary bitching on here. We very much value and appreciate your input :)

Virtualhaggling · 18/03/2014 08:03

Goldie, thanks to your input, these three threads have been amount the best I have ever followed on mn Flowers. Have a nice day in your very interesting job!

Virtualhaggling · 18/03/2014 08:03

*among not amount

hackmum · 18/03/2014 08:04

Goldie sounds pretty knowledgeable to me. If you read the papers, there's all sorts of speculation and counter-speculation, with experts contradicting each other all over the place. It seems to be the nature of the beast. So I wouldn't say that just because Goldie's assumptions haven't been completely right on a couple of occasions, she doesn't know what she's talking about, it's just that as more and more information comes to light, people change their mind about what's happened.

tiaramasu · 18/03/2014 08:05

I understand that livingzuid, though it would have been helpful if she had said that before.

I am just describing how she is posting, not that she shouldnt say what she has said.

Virtualhaggling · 18/03/2014 08:05

Tiara, you are dragging down the thread with ignorant comments. What a pitty.

Quinteszilla · 18/03/2014 08:05

"You have been ignoring some awkward questions.
Your choice of course."

Indeed her choice. And Goldie is not paid to talk us through this, nor is she an official spokes person, and we are not her bosses.

yggdrasil · 18/03/2014 08:06

Goldie's posts have been fascinating.

Of course she cannot post everything she might know. Of course. She is an aeronautical engineer. There are security issues.

What she has done is come on here night after night and patiently explained everything she can. I think this is about the best forum right now for that, because of Goldie's contributions and because of the interesting questions being asked as a result.

She's also, in addition to being patient (even with the mobiles!) and exceptionally knowledgeable, been kind, and non-patronising.

I'm kind of stunned that she's managed to come in for any kind of an attack, tbh, when all she's done is share what she knows. And what she knows is a heck of a lot.

I've been on MN for 11 years now, though very infrequently in the past five years or so. I've seen this happen before and its really not us at our best. We really should not be attacking women for knowing stuff.
