Dear Kim Perkins,
The purpose of my email is not to cause mischief or
direct unwarranted criticism against Essex police.
I have some information which I feel you would do well
to bring to the attention of the senior police officer
who oversaw the recent appeal and the force solicitor.
A significant part of the case relied upon by the
police in prosecuting Jeremy Bamber, involved the
presentation of evidence concerning the silencer being
fitted to the rifle at the time Sheila Caffell was
fatally shot beneath the chin.
Expert evidence was produced to confirm that the fatal
chin wound was a contact type shot where the end of
the silencer had been in contact with the surface of
the skin. It is by these means that her blood was
believed to have got into the silencer.
The same expert stated that the non fatal neck wound
was not a contact type shot, infact it was stated that
the end of the weapon was about 9" away from the
surface of the skin at the time that bullet was
fired..
The blood of Sheila could only have entered the
silencer at the time she was fatally shot and
thereafter she could not have removed it and taken it
downstairs and placed it inside the gun cupboard
because dead people do not have a habit of getting up
and walking about the place after they are already
dead and taking part in activities such as removing
silencers and concealing it.
The overall length of the weapon was too long when the
silencer was fitted to allow Sheila an opportunity to
commit suicide by firing the fatal chin shot.
I recently had an opportunity to examine a blown up
copy of the neck and chin wounds inflicted upon Sheila
and as a result of this I discovered a remarkable
piece of evidence which is capable of turning all the
prosecutions evidence (aforementioned) upon its head!
When a silencer is fitted onto the end of a rifle and
it is pressed into the surface of the skin, either on
the neck or the arm or wherever, it always leaves a
mark or impression that is about one inch in diameter
and which is clearly visible. No mark or impression
from the end of the silencer will be visible where
such is held away from the surface of the skin since
there has been no contact at all.
Some trials were performed at Birdwell Armoury using
an exact replica of the rifle and a similar silencer
and a model who was of the same general build, height
and body weight as Sheila was able to adopt several
poses to demonstrate that it was possible for Sheila
to have shot herself using the rilfe with the silencer
fitted.
These trials were photographed and videod!
Of particular interest is the fact that marks or
impressions left by the silencer on the surface of the
neck were clearly visible during the trial and have
shown up remarkably well in the photographs.
Just before christmas last year, some of those
responsible for making the photographic potfolio and a
separate 15 minute video clip of the trials and myself
visited Birmingham and had an opportunity to examine
the crime scene photographs which showed both the
wound sites to the chin and throat of Sheila Caffell.
It was at this time that it was noticed that there was
not a silencer mark or impression around the fatal
chin wound, but rather there was one around the non
fatal neck wound.
Close scrutiny of the surface of the skin around the
non fatal neck wound reveals that the silencer was
attached to the rifle at the time that shot was
discharged into the victim. The circumferential mark
is more defined in parts around its circumference
which align with the angle that the weapon appears to
have been offered up into position and discharged..
This discovery confirms how Sheial Caffells blood got
into the silencer!
There is no corresponding silencer mark around the
chin wound bullet hole which in my view gives a clear
indication that the silencer was not fitted!
It therefore falls to be considered that the silencer
may have been fitted to the rifle when Sheila was non
fatally wounded in the neck but had been removed prior
to her recieving the fatal chin wound. The fact that
the rifle was found on top of her body without the
silencer attached is consistent with there being no
silencer mark or impression around the fatal chin
wound and is capable of suppoting the case for her
having committed suicide as was originally thought by
the original police investigation.
I was actively involved in looking into the
circumstances of Mr Bambers conviction until very
recently but am no longer affiliated to campaign since
the arrival of Mr Di Stefano on the scene.
It was as a direct result of the discovery of the
silencers mark around the non fatal neck wound that
caused Jeremy Bamber to dispose of the services of his
former solicitor and those of us who know about the
mark. He has abandoned any hope he ever had of trying
to convince the courts that the blood inside the
silencer originated from a mixture of his parents
blood as opposed to being specific to his sister. He
never gave me or the others an opportunity to put
forward the suggestions I am making to you in this
email. He is now concerned with trying to blame
someone else and relying on details in the police
radio logs and major incident logs to suggest someone
else was present at the house who was the real killer.
He has recently witten to me informing me that I no
longer represent his or his solicitors views and he
reserves the right to take whatever action necessary
in the event I speak out about anything.
I have mentioned these matters here to give you and
essex police an opportunity to do something
constructive towards rectifying what I believe has
been a miscarriage of justice against him. I suggest
you might like to examine the crime scene photograph
of sheila with a view to confirming all that I have
spoken about and in the event you arrive at the same
conclusions as myself it might be in your best
interests to present this evidence to the home
secretary or some other similar authority such as the
crown prosecution service..
I am willing to co operate as much as possible and
will supply you with copies of all the pictures taken
during the trials conducted into these matters as well
as a copy of the video clip.
If you are interested in my proposition please feel
free to contact me again so that arrangements can be
made to get the necessary information into your hands!
