LIZS · 02/05/2006 11:58

pmsl. "low-quality confectionery " ! we lived in the land of Lindt and Sprungli - ds first school was near the fatory , ah the smell... - and still hankered after Dairy Milk and galaxy!

cod · 02/05/2006 11:58

snorts sceptically..how old is this maya, eating sugar in food is far from the worst thing that can happen imo

cod · 02/05/2006 12:00

I’d like to think, though, that Maya will enjoy so many other foods and feel a food reward is just as valid if it’s a bowl of raspberries or some Medjool dates.

IN unexpected places such as medicines!! How mcuh medicine does she give her child? Better sugar than aspartame!

If I got shaky and felt shattered after eating sweets I would go to the doctor.

Mind you, plenty of fun to be had for Maya as she grows up spiking her mother's food with crushed up Smarties

cod · 02/05/2006 12:03

lol
( oh mums off on one again)

Angeliz · 02/05/2006 12:03

DP bought me some fruit juice yesterday as i'm always thirsty. It had aspartame in!

MrsBadger · 02/05/2006 12:03

Having a nutritionist for a mum can't be much fun - I have a feeling she named the poor child after the Green&Blacks chocolate...

colditz · 02/05/2006 12:04

Someone needs to take some money off this lady, to give her something to really sink her worrying teeth into!

zippitrippitoes · 02/05/2006 12:05

there seems to be a whole world of journalists who have kids in order to write about them...a sort of media version of desinger baby as accessory..

Jimjamskeepingoffvaxthreads · 02/05/2006 12:05

what was she using to sweeten mayas food? carrots? ROFL.

Angeliz · 02/05/2006 12:05
Grin I'm off to have a jam donut.
foxinsocks · 02/05/2006 12:06

I loved reading this this morning

hhmmm Medjool dates vs chocolate buttons...that's a hard one for a 3 yr old

I think she missed the point somewhat. It's not the sweets we really need to worry about - at least we know what they are! It's all the hidden sugars/sweeteners in things like cornflakes/other cereals/ready meals that are quite astounding.

Angeliz · 02/05/2006 12:06

Grin 'No Darling you can't have that delicious caramel bar but here, have a carrot as it's full of beta carotine and will keep you regular'

oliveoil · 02/05/2006 12:06

I won't have a bad word said about this woman cod, she is fabulous

I do remember once though, many moons ago, when she did an article whereby she had a danish pastry at a friend's house and 'instead of eating half, I had the whole one and had to lie down in the afternoon' .

Ahem, but I do think she is fab.
