Hope no one else has started this.

OP posts:
JillJ72 · 25/02/2013 17:43

I think we're trying to understand in our own minds why someone who 'had it all' carried out such a violent act that resulted in the death of a young lady. That is for the trial to determine (the truth...).

As for his website. Well, if his PR people are browsing for public opinion, mine is thus - fine, keep the website there, but remove the messages of support and reduce the ruddy great big font size. It sits really uncomfortably with me. In bad taste, not appropriate.

JillJ72 · 25/02/2013 17:45

Better still, have a wiki page and take the website down.

lowercase · 25/02/2013 17:50

Yes, the site shows so little respect for Reeva.

Her poor family :(

MechanicalTheatre · 25/02/2013 17:51

flippinada I think a lot of people just don't know what to think. At the end of the day, if there is any reasonable doubt that he didn't do it in self-defence, he'll get off. I'm certainly not trying to talk myself into anything, it's just that both possibilities seem so ridiculous to me.

I come down on one side and think "yes, it must be that" then something else comes into my mind that makes me come down on the other side.

flippinada · 25/02/2013 18:06

I do get get what you're saying. It's not a j'accuse type post - but a lot of people find it so horrifying that they cast around for reasons why it must have happened.

MechanicalTheatre · 25/02/2013 18:25

Yeah, I know what you mean.

DonderandBlitzen · 25/02/2013 19:14

I didn't know that he left patio doors and the bathroom window open. If that is true then it does make the paranoid about burglars theory less plausible. Although even if he did believe it was burglars I can't get my head around how he behaved, shooting through a door.

PuffPants · 25/02/2013 19:22

I think the doors were sliding and had burglar bars around them. Not quite as strange as sleeping with doors wide open.

I think, I'm not certain about this.

WormCanner · 25/02/2013 19:24

The doors and windows probably were open, if people could hear them yelling at each other. I doubt if he'd have left them open when he went to bed, but I don't believe that ever happened.

WileyRoadRunner · 25/02/2013 19:43

According to a piece in the telegraph he was warned to 'back off' by Cecil Myers, Reevas friend and landlord.
The impression he got was that OP was impatient, moody.
Myers said OP bothered Reeva continually calling.
Can't link from my phone, but it's still on there.

The thing with that lowercase is that you can bet that interview/statement didn't come for free. Doesn't sound like a respectful friend to me - if he was he would put that into a statement and take the stand for the prosecution not be bleating to the tabloids.

flippinada · 25/02/2013 20:32

The Telegraph isn't a tabloid newspaper, it's a generally well respected, right of centre broadsheet (just to give some background to those familiar with UK print media).

How is it disrespectful, and to whom? And how do you know he hasn't given a statement to police?

Her had to identify her body. Poor man. I think I'd be angry in those circumstances too.

flippinada · 25/02/2013 20:32

To those who are not familiar, I mean to say.

GuffSmuggler · 25/02/2013 21:00

Sorry if this has been covered before, but I was thinking about OP hearing this noise in the toilet that immediately sent him off into a frenzied shooting paranoia.

I mean, how much noise does someone make going to the loo in the night? Especially as the toilet was 7 metres down the corridor from the room, I just don't believe you would hear someone from the bedroom in a toilet down a corridor going about their business.

I could understand it more if she had gone downstairs and accidentally smashed a glass or something, that would be a terrifying noise to hear in the middle of the night and more likely to send someone on the rampage.

Just makes no sense to me whatsoever.

currentbuns · 25/02/2013 21:00

Yes, this man quoted in the Telegraph was the father of RS's best friend, and RS had been living with him and his family in Jo'burg. He was a father figure to RS and identified her body.
Given these circumstances, WileyRoadRunner, one can hardly blame him for wanting to express his own view, particularly in the face of the massive PR effort to drum up sympathy for OP and minimise what he has done.
Accusing this man of 'bleating to the media' and of selling his story for profit is in pretty poor taste.

The45King · 25/02/2013 21:05

I really like your posts on these threads currentbuns

claig · 25/02/2013 21:10

I find it hard to believe that an intruder would be using the toilet or be in the bathroom

MechanicalTheatre · 25/02/2013 21:13

claig, I don't think his argument is that the intruder was taking a piss.

His argument is that the intruder had broken in via the bathroom.

claig · 25/02/2013 21:19

Yes, that is possible. But locking the door is then a bit iffy in my opinion.

currentbuns · 25/02/2013 21:21

Er thanks, The45King Blush

PuffPants · 25/02/2013 21:23

Yes, but remember there was no intruder. OP is not saying there was an intruder. RS locked the door but presumably he didn't know it was locked. He wouldn't have tried the handle first...in his intruder story that is.

Xenia · 25/02/2013 21:23

I think we need to see the texts and emails she sent. If she were afraid of him and locked herself in the loo and there were 4 phones in there including I think her iphone she is likely to have been texting her friends. If she was just going for a wee in the middle of the night and locked the door and he fired 4 bullets in very quick succession and hit her then it might indeed have been carelessness/a mistake on his part.

flippinada · 25/02/2013 21:26

I appreciate your posts too currantbuns. Sorry if I've made you blush again!

claig · 25/02/2013 21:27

However, OP didn't know it was locked.

The45King · 25/02/2013 21:27

haha! sorry...that did sound a bit stalkerish, didnt it!

WileyRoadRunner · 25/02/2013 21:29

"People will stay away from him now. Women too, they will be too afraid, no girl wants her ae shot off.

I don't think that sounds respectful. Sorry that you do not agree, that is purely my opinion. Which I am entitled to as you are yours.

And he makes himself sound just as controlling as OP.

Again nobody knows the truth about any of these relationships, it's all subjective, opinions based on bias.

Whether OP is a horrible murdering man or someone who at best killed someone through their own idiocy remains to be seen.
