I'm agog. I'm so agog I bought the Radio Times to read all about it.
There will be sheep, clouds (yes, clouds), maypoles and all manner of shit. Moshpits, apparently. Glastonbury Tor. Ploughs.

And 3 hours? What happens - we watch the clouds, then we watch the sheep? What are the billions of people involved going to be doing?

I cannot wait. Anyone have any further info?

The first I heard of it all was from DD - there will be luminous sheep apparently Grin

I'm trying not to find out too much more - that's enough for me to be going on with. Sounds classic - I can't wait !

MrsVamos · 26/07/2012 14:57

Is it going to make me cry ?

It all sounds much better than I was expecting. Am I right to look forward to it and keep the DCs up to watch ?

maybeyoushoulddrive · 26/07/2012 14:59

Sounds fab Grin We're very excited here!

BTW - thought it was only me with a problem with Macca - isn't he a national treasure or something?Hmm He makes my teeth itch - and his voice is awful nowShock

WopBopALooBop · 26/07/2012 15:01

MrsVamos yes let the DCs stay up!! :) I'm sure they'll love it but there is one bit which was quite scary.... But a well known English saviour who your DCs will probably know comes to the rescue and it's all OK in the end :)

FannyBrawne · 26/07/2012 15:01

Did anyone at the rehearsal get any sighting of Sir Kenneth Brannagh?

I am sure he will do a great job; he is a fine actor - but I am so sad (on many levels) that Mark Rylance couldn't do it.

MrsVamos · 26/07/2012 15:02

I really don't like Macca. Or his music. I just wish he'd stop dying his hair and grow old gracefully.

Can't wait to see George at the closing ceremony, though. Grin

MrsVamos · 26/07/2012 15:03

Thanks for that, Wop.

I was going to anyway, I am a terrible mother. Grin

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 26/07/2012 15:08

Oh, poor old Macca - we had to have some Beatles input surely ? Smile

ThePan · 26/07/2012 15:18

just wondering which bits of Brit history will have to be edited out, as it may lead other competitors uncomfortable...

and yes we can do sans Beatles and celebrate Britpop stuff with Rolling Stones, Oasis, Status Quo, Queen. and Cliff Richards.

ajandjjmum · 26/07/2012 15:25

DD and DS were there last night. DD phoned before it started, to say she felt so proud to be British. They both said it was amazing - with parts that would appeal to different age groups.

So, my decision's made, I'm definitely going down to London to watch it on TV- and look at the stadium and fireworks in the distance! Grin

MrsVamosGOTEAMGB · 26/07/2012 15:34

Come on over to Spark's Olympic Name Change thread !

ihatethecold · 26/07/2012 15:35

I went last night. It was brilliant. I felt very lucky to be guven tickets. We had a really good laugh.
The troops were great. Very professional and friendly. Lovely atmosphere.
I thought the volunteers did a fantastic job.
I cant wait to watch it on tv tomorrowSmile

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 26/07/2012 15:37

How many people were there last night, cold - was the stadium full ?

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 26/07/2012 15:39

I have a terrible vision of a few sheep, bewildered, trotting about, visible in that giant stadium only to the TV audience and those in the place with binoculars, and a pathetic stream of fake birds like the ones in his production of Frankenstein, again lost in the huge arena.

But I'm willing to be pleasantly surprised. Grin

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 26/07/2012 15:41

Oh yeh, and get in the Olympic spirit MNHQ ...

Change strap line (in discussions of the day) to ...

Olympic opening ceremony .... will it be FAB ?! Smile

... or "insider tip offs" ?

jamdonut · 26/07/2012 15:41

Matthew Pinsent said on telly that it might not necessarilly be a sporting icon that lights the olympic flame, and that it might be lit very unusually.

I'm hoping (as a Whovian, lol BlushGrin) that they are going to use the Doctor,The tardis, a dalek something like that....not really likely ,I know, but I can hope ! Then it would be totally surreal, after having had the episode Fear Her (a few years back), where The Doctor does indeed light the flame!!GrinGrinGrin

WopBopALooBop · 26/07/2012 15:43

Juggling te stadium was pretty much full, I thinkout was just 1 block of the upper tier that was empty.

WopBopALooBop · 26/07/2012 15:44

*THE stadium
*THINK IT

Bloody hell. I'm going now.

jamdonut · 26/07/2012 15:44

Oh, and |I'm really hoping Muse will be in the "Glastonbury" part of the set ,with the Mosh pits etc. Again, I may be very disappointed, but I luuuuuuuurve Muse, they are awesome!

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 26/07/2012 15:49

Oh, I'm glad the organisers were generous with tickets for the rehearsal - great that so many people were able to enjoy it ! I'll be watching tomorrow night from the Lake District ... with all the Lakeland sheep !

jubileemum · 26/07/2012 15:51

My husband is in the Royal Navy and we were given tickets to go on Monday night and it was fantastic! I feel very lucky to have gone and can not wait for it all to start!

DilysPrice · 26/07/2012 16:00

I've got my heart set on all the living Doctor Whos lighting the torch together, holding hands with all the British Bonds

Nanabana · 26/07/2012 16:03

DH and I went to Monday nights show, felt very privileged! There were a lot of instructions given to the audience at the start which was dull but it was fantastic overall.
All a bit odd to start with but like nothing else.
I did my first ever mexican wave! I'm easily impressed :)

MrsVamosGOTEAMGB · 26/07/2012 16:05

I wondered, with this whole flame lighting thing, if maybe Mr. Beckham is going to kick a ball, which will light the torch in the stadium ?

ajandjjmum · 26/07/2012 16:24

He's not an Olympian - he can't do it!!! Grin

So jealous of all of you who got to see a rehearsal.
