I'm agog. I'm so agog I bought the Radio Times to read all about it.
There will be sheep, clouds (yes, clouds), maypoles and all manner of shit. Moshpits, apparently. Glastonbury Tor. Ploughs.

And 3 hours? What happens - we watch the clouds, then we watch the sheep? What are the billions of people involved going to be doing?

I cannot wait. Anyone have any further info?

So eh have we got so far then?
Macca
Ken Branagh talking in ulster brogue
Clouds on strings
Sheeps
Possibly becks
Some secret mumnetters
A sprinkling of school kids from various regions
Torch lighter ( unknown)
A mosh pit
Dark satanic mills
Glastonbury Tor
Stonehenge

God I'm gonna burst!

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 27/07/2012 15:33

I now have an image of a Spinal Tap scenario with a teeny tiny Stonehenge being lowered down. Grin

recall · 27/07/2012 15:46

funnyperson I have seen the rehearsal and I'm afraid that you will be disappointed - no flop.

ExitPursuedByABronzeBear · 27/07/2012 15:53

I'm ridiculously excited now.

VivaLeBeaver · 27/07/2012 15:55

A friend of a friend is in it.

He's involved in a dance routine where they're dancing while pushing hospital beds. Hmm

MrsVamosGOTEAMGB · 27/07/2012 15:57

I'm very excited too, Exit.

HipHopSkipJumpomous · 27/07/2012 16:08

I'm very excited - I saw the flame yesterday and I am going to an Olympic party in a flat overlooking the stadium so I shall see the fireworks on the telly and for real in a weird kind of stereo.

Hassled · 27/07/2012 16:34

I saw the episode of Twenty Twelve last night where they work out the fireworks are going to set off the surface to air missiles :o.

I too am finally and out of nowhere feeling the Olympic love. DCs will stay up and we will enjoy tonight - right up until the point SirMacca first does a thumbs up thing.

Oh oh I am so excited! Grin

Very pleased Sir Ken will be there.

DH is due home from work early, hopefully we can get the sproglets into bed and settle down to watch it with something chilled.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 27/07/2012 17:02

The best bit of that Twenty Twelve episode was when Danny Boyle's 'people' had rung up to complain that there weren't enough nurses in the NHS for the show.

Someone said 'Well, they'll just have to have fewer nurses dancing harder.' GrinGrinGrin

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 27/07/2012 17:02

Hassled - my excitement has come out of nowhere as well, much as it did for the Royal Wedding.

DS1 (4) has been galloping around the house and garden pretending that he is in the Olympics all day Grin

Cremolavelodrome · 27/07/2012 19:09

Look it s on. There's a cottage with the fire lit!!! And a sheep pen

whatinthewhatnow · 27/07/2012 19:21

v excited! ds is 4 and is staying up late to watch it. I'm getting over the massive wast of public funds thing to embrace it now. Plus I do love watching certain sports, and DS can't wait.

Fiderer · 27/07/2012 19:29

Why aren't they wearing normal microphones like telly people do? They seem to have Maltesers that someone's sucked the chocolate off bobbing on a wire.

The set looks like Hobbiton out of The Lord of the Rings. Any chance of Viggo Mortensen?

Denise34 · 27/07/2012 19:38

Sharon Davies must have had some work done to look like that at 50.

rainydaysarebad · 27/07/2012 21:22

Wow, good job Danny Boyle.

Hassled · 27/07/2012 22:31

That was completely bloody MARVELLOUS. I'm still agog, but in all the right sort of ways.

I missed the queen and James Bond though due to my pesky bladder - gutted.

claig · 27/07/2012 22:38

Very good job. Boyle done us proud.

I think he missed a trick. When the Queen parachuted out, I think Bond should have said "After you, Ma'am"

Some bits dragged on like teh industrial revolution bit and the pop music bit, but it was very good overall and kept changing and was interesting.

LeB0F · 27/07/2012 22:45

I bloody loved it. Ballsy of Boyle to just play his 'Now That's What I Call Music' collection back to back.

ThePan · 27/07/2012 22:47

Soo well done. I can be such a cynic, but loved this from the start. Strokes of genius. And yes I could name all of the tunes!

snapespeare · 27/07/2012 23:02

Tardis! Tardis!! Come ooooon.

claig · 27/07/2012 23:11

'And yes I could name all of the tunes'

I must admit that some of teh 'grime' tunes escaped me!

Shame there was nothing from the fifties. Sir Cliff is one of our biggest selling artists and he had some big fifties hits like 'Move It' and 'Living Doll'. Britain did do something in the fifties too. Even the Clash's cover 'Brand New Cadillac' was a British produced fifties hit, and then there is also Charlie Drake's version of 'Sea Cruise'. But I guess it was Boyle's musical taste that ruled some of those classics out.

Dr Who - that would be cool!

happyAvocado · 28/07/2012 00:18

We all loved it, I felt as if it was a film not a lead up to ceremony.
Cinderells loosing her phone and Mr.Bean playing my fav melody - top my list :)
