If you were cynical you might why the paper included gossip stories on previously-unknown legal types in the first place. How lucky to then be able to try and use your own industries interfering as an argument agaist the trial for aspects of that interfering.

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 18/05/2012 13:45

not going to say where I would dispose of incriminatiing evidence just in case I ever need to Grin

edam · 18/05/2012 13:56

isn't Brook's London flat in Chelsea Harbour? I'd have chucked the laptop into the river, not left it lying around a car park. I assume by the time a laptop's been dragged out of the Thames the data is beyond recovery. Not that there would ever be any reason for me to get rid of a laptop, of course.

FrankWippery · 18/05/2012 13:59

My brilliant DD1 is such a crap waitress that she has managed to spill red wine and coffee on RB. More than once. I am so very proud of her uselessness there.

She has also done the same to DC and JC and doesn't even need to be told to, she's that bad.

hiveofbees · 18/05/2012 14:01

And she kept her job? Grin

PostBellumBugsy · 18/05/2012 14:02

I didn't know JC was back! Do the 7th day adventists know? Grin - sorry couldn't resist!

edam · 18/05/2012 14:03
Grin

Going back to laptop, couldn't you wipe the memory, do something horrible to it so it's hard to recover data - coke on the keyboard is especially bad, I think (the soft drink, not the other stuff) and then leave it accidentally in a public place where some fecker will nick it?

Not that I'm thinking about this too much or planning anything norty or owt...

hiveofbees · 18/05/2012 14:06

I dont think coke on the keyboard will wipe the hard drive Grin

FrankWippery · 18/05/2012 14:08

She totally kept her job. I think we can safely guess where her boss stands!

Hahaha PostBB!

Aboutlastnight · 18/05/2012 14:36

rebecca Edam

I think you have to incinerate the fucker. HTH Grin

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 18/05/2012 14:57

FrankWhippery good on your girl!

Ponders · 18/05/2012 15:02

tie it in a sack along with a large rock & drop it into some very very very deep water (preferably with a lot of mud at the bottom)

the dim bulb they did show a startling lack of creativity

MrsEdinburgh · 19/05/2012 00:14

Makes you wonder if the lap top was meant to be found...?

I'll say one thing in RB's defence: she is a dogged, clever & brilliant journalist (please don't shoot me.)

There's more to come & it will be RB who will get the scoop of the century.
Be very afraid some people...you know who you are....

MarySA · 19/05/2012 00:21

I was wondering the same about the laptop Mrs Edinburgh. Also I seem to remember when it was first reported that the items were found in a bin in a car park. I heard that RB wasn't a very good journalist. And I couldn't admire anybody who used such tactics in their work and operated the way she did.

ComposHat · 19/05/2012 00:39

No she isn't a brilliant journalist, Paul Foot was a brilliant journalist, John Pilger is a brilliant journalist, they worked to expose unfairness, inequality and shine a light on the grubby aspects of the modern world others would prefer you not see.

Rebekah Brooks is a muckraker and sleazemonker- no actually as an editor she didn't write any of the shit in her papers, she was muckraker's pimp.

donnie · 19/05/2012 08:32

ompo - very eloquently put Smile

Paul Foot was God, IMO.

donnie · 19/05/2012 08:33

sorry, Compo!

donnie · 19/05/2012 08:41

blimey just looked at that link Jess. My first instinct was to check it wasn't dated 1st April!

JessCartandahorse · 19/05/2012 08:43

I know, you couldn't make it up! I guess it has all the ingredients of a good story. Could be a long time coming out if they're waiting till the end of legal proceedings.

NicholasTeakozy · 19/05/2012 09:45

She is not a journalist. Robert Fisk is, as is Nick Davies. I can't imagine either of them hacking voicemails or setting up stings.

That movie could be a while in the making. :o

Great post Compo!

QuickLookBusy · 19/05/2012 10:05

I also wondered about the finding of the laptop.

It was either very incompetently binned or someone wanted it to be found. It's just seems so unbelievable that someone would bin it next to their own house. At least if it was binned on the other side of London they could have claimed someone had nicked it then binned it. It doesn't make sense.
