Rather shocked and saddened about Whitney

Never was a fan to be honest but along with other stars she formed part of my soundtrack to my youth.

I know she had issues. I'm still shocked, maybe not suprised (we'll see as details come out) and without frothing and candle lighting I'm still pretty sad.

Feel quite low about it if I'm honest, maybe that's because I'm an 80's girl, just another thing that passes, but I think her story is a very sad one.

TotemPole · 12/02/2012 07:25

It is sad. RIP.

Megatron · 12/02/2012 07:44

Very sad. Still young and very talented, what a waste of life.

Saving All My Love For You came out when I was 18 and had just met ex H. It was 'our' song and reminds me of when we were young and totally in love, looking forward to our future together. Makes me sad thinking about it now.

tribpot · 12/02/2012 07:51

An absolutely amazing voice. I feel so sad for her family, especially her daughter.

Charlotteperkins · 12/02/2012 08:04

Bobby brown is a murderer as far as I'm concerned. I hope something good can come from this in that at least one woman in a toxic relationship can break free before its too late and end up like Whitney.

Kayano · 12/02/2012 08:08

If it was drugs then bobby brown is not a murderer... Hmm sorry but death shouldn't just absolve people of any wrongdoing... She put that stuff in herself for long enough

Kayano · 12/02/2012 08:18

Sorry that sound really harsh but it seems to always be someone else's fault when it's a celebrity Sad

Ladyjaxo · 12/02/2012 08:35

Yes, I have to agree with Kayano here, no disrespect to Whitney, have always loved her, but she had her demons before Brown. They also divorced in 2006. She was model in the early eighties with all the drugs around that industry. And it was well known within the music industry about her drug use before they married. Remember this is pre-internet days when things were easily hidden. Brown has also said it was her that introduced him to hard drugs cocaine etc before that he only drank and smoked weed. The saddest thing is her daughter was caught on fb last year doing cocaine.I hope that she now rests in peace, she had an illness.

porcamiseria · 12/02/2012 08:41

oh no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JustHecate · 12/02/2012 08:46

It is very unfortunate. She appeared to be a nice person, who was just unable to fight off her demons. I am saddened, but not shocked. I think we all know which people we think are going to meet early deaths, sadly. This doesn't make it any less tragic and my heart goes out to her family who are undoubtedly heartbroken.

porcamiseria · 12/02/2012 08:47

listening, fuck she did some lovely songs. rip

imoanruby · 12/02/2012 09:05

She made some terrible choices in her life, which i believe she alone was responsible for, but she was a such a talent and more than that she was someones mummy, so sad for her daughter.

Whatmeworry · 12/02/2012 09:13

Drug addicted Pop star dies in hotel room......sad, but hardly a shocker

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 12/02/2012 09:16

I don't understand how people can say 'I blame Bobby Brown'..do you know him personally?

CiderwithBuda · 12/02/2012 09:20

Very very sad. Bloody drugs. Bloody bloody drugs.

She seemed to have it all at one point.

RIP Witney.

PosiePumblechook · 12/02/2012 09:22

Blame is a funny thing isn't it? Blame who? The person that took the drugs? The person that sold them? The industry that promotes it? The labels that commodify people?

She was a talented star but she wasn't immortal. Hard drugs are always a gamble, not many people win.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 12/02/2012 09:29

Of course its sad.
She seems to have had a very sad and lonely end to a troubled life.

Her music was not my thing but she had a bloody amazing voice.

She has a daughter and a family. They must have gone through hell watching her decline.

Poor Whitney.

I am really not looking forward to the mass outpourings of grief from people who never knew her. I will certainly not be straying over to NMs as I can only imagine the weeping and wailing going on.

I dont think Bobby Brown can be blamed. They were both adults when they met. The relationship definately seemed to be the catalyst but he cant be blamed for what she did surely?

TantePiste · 12/02/2012 09:54

i first saw her as a model in my teen magazines. even then i was struck by how gorgeous and also wholesome and glowing she was. when her first album came out i was amazed at her talent, tho it wasnt my thing.l her voice was everywhere then, and every little girl sang her songs into their hairbrush

wannaBe · 12/02/2012 09:56

It's sad when anyone dies.

But I think that it says a lot about the music industry that death is rarely a shock.

Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse, Whitney Houston, I wasn't surprised to hear about any of them dying. In fact when a singer dies suddenly drugs are always the first assumption - I remember when Stephen Gateley died the first reactions were that he must have been doing drugs, and it was almost more surprising to hear that he wasn't.

The "I blame Bobby Brown/Bobby Brown is a murderer" comments are ridiculous. Nobody made her take drugs - we all have choices and she made her's and paid the price for it.

TantePiste · 12/02/2012 09:56

ladyjaxo, sad to know whitney was doing drugs even before her career took off. what a fatal flaw when she had so many gifts.

Jemma1111 · 12/02/2012 10:16

When I first started going to nightclubs, my friends and I would get ready whilst listening and dancing to Whitney's ' I wanna dance with somebody ' video, loved her music.

My 'first love' also bought me her album and so, for me also, its sad that someone who was an Idol to me in my younger days has gone.

Greenshirt · 12/02/2012 10:19

I hope Rhianna takes note.

LisaD1 · 12/02/2012 10:22

Very sad. A very talented lady has died far too young and leaving behind her family and daughter.

I have many fond memories of dancing the night away to her songs.

RIP Whitney, thoughts are with her family/friends.

HoneyandHaycorns · 12/02/2012 10:23

Agree with MrsDeVere (as usual Grin) and WannaBe.

It's very sad that someone so talented lost her life at such a young age. But perhaps even more sad that it isn't at all surprising. :(

I think it's absurd and very unfair to blame bobbi brown or anyone else for what has happened. Whitney was an adult and responsible for her own choices. It doesn't always have to be someone's fault.

NorthernWreck · 12/02/2012 10:28

I don't know how anyone can blame Bbby Brown without knowing the facts.
It has been documented that Whitney was taking cocaine back when she was a model (that would have been really common) and it was when she started on crack cocaine that she got all messed up.

It is sad. She was really young and could have pulled it together before this happened.
